What makes you think the plural of carniphila is carniphilia? -- Sixorish 11:31, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Well, I checked around the net, and there were several sources which stated that the plural was Carniphilia, and I believed them. I saw your proof on this matter though, and thanks for pointing that undeniable fact out. I will first check the official Tibia website before making similar changes in the future (this idea didn't even occur to me while making the change). -- Wouterboy 19:30, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Crowbar

I found the door in desert dungeon that needs a crowbar to be opened. See the crowbar talk page for the link. foggy 13:03, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

Thumbs up

Hey Wouterboy,

I see your edits coming by every now and then in the recent changes page and I think they are good quality, so I wanted to give you a thumbs up. Keep up the good job! :) -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 12:06, October 5, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the nice compliment! And to make use of the attention, I noticed a mistake. Every one of the Lukosch brothers' names ends in -sh, whereas in-game they appear ending in -sch. I already edited this on the pages themselves, but I couldn't quite figure out how to edit the titles as well. Also, when I go to pages with 'dropped by'-sections, I notice that the normal dropping creatures are alphabetically ordered and are then followed by the alphabetically ordered bosses. Is this intended or should all the names be alphabetically ordered together? -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:32, October 5, 2013 (UTC)

About the Lukosch brothers, to edit the titles of pages you need to rename them by moving the page. Renaming is the same as moving, you can do it by pressing the dropdownlist triangle near the edit button and choose 'rename' from the options (I'm not 100% sure if you need to be an admin to do this, just give a shout if it doesn't work for you).

Abou the separation of normal creatures and bosses on those pages; it has been a custom on TibiaWiki to separate boss creatures from normal ones, so I assume that's the reason this happened on those pages as well I can't tell if it is intended since I never edited those pages. Does it bother you? It could arguably be changed of course.

I hope this answers your questions. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 15:28, October 5, 2013 (UTC)

If the separation of normal and boss creatures is a custom, it doesn't have any reasson to bother me. I just wanted to know if there was a reason for it or not.

And I can't edit the titles, since the redirect pages have already been edited, so the two pages (redirect -sh and actual -sch) can't swap (at least that is what I understood from the error I got).

Also, some of the creatures that can see invisibility are listed twice in the corresponding table (on the Invisibility page) and I don't know how to change it. -- Wouterboy (talk) 15:47, October 5, 2013 (UTC)

I fixed the Lukosch brothers issue. The problem was that you had to check a box marked "Yes, delete to make way for move".

As for Invisibility, there are 2 different ways to input the immunity in the creature template (same with paralyze). This may be the cause of the problem.

Keep up the good work!

Weird

Hello guys, can someone please fix the the bp and bag section of the shops page? The only thing I did was changing a disambiguation link (Water) to the right link (Water (Liquid)) but for some reason that section got messed up and reverting my edit didn't help. Thanks in advance. -- Wouterboy (talk) 15:14, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Maybe you accidentally removed a character while editing which broke the format? Anyways, I just reverted it and fixed the water link for you. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 12:46, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Well, apparently I did. Anyway, thanks for the fast reply (and cleaning up my mess)!

The Heavily Rusted Armor page stopped displaying the percentage at which Damaged Worker Golem drops it after my edit on loot statistics and reverting my edit didn't work (again). Same goes for Madareth with Slightly Rusted Armor and Slightly Rusted Legs, for Ghastly Dragon, Zanakeph and Zulazza the Corruptor with Slightly Rusted Armor and for Werewolf with Rusted Armor. Someone please come to the rescue. -- Wouterboy (talk) 15:14, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Traveling

What were you trying to achieve here? Spaces like that will be inconsistent between browsers and screen resolutions, and those spaces make the page seem unprofessional. Is there something you were trying to achieve and are there any other ways we can do it? -- Sixorish (talk) 09:11, October 13, 2013 (UTC)

Those spaces were already there when I started editing it. I have no idea how they got there or how to remove them and they were quite a nuisance for me as well. Feel free to somehow fix it, because I wasn't trying to achieve anything with it and the person putting them there wasn't either probably. -- Wouterboy (talk) 10:21, October 13, 2013 (UTC)

Wikilinks

Hey again,

I saw in your recent edit here and also in other edits that you add wikilinks to a lot of words. In principal this is ok, but I think it is custom to only link once to a certain article in a section. E.g. the first time the word "city" appears in a section of text you could link to the corresponding article, if somebody wants more info they can click on it. The next time the word "city" appears in the section it is not necessary anymore to link to it, since people interested in more info about cities could have clicked on the first link.

I think this is not really an official rule, but more of a consensus between wiki editors. If you have good reasons to disagree please let me know. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 12:17, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Well, the reason I do it is because some people tend to skim the article for the information they need, and may therefore miss the first (and possibly only) link to another article of relevance to them. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:26, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Email

Hello, Wouterboy! Can you check your inbox and reply my email as soon as possible? Thank you.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 10:44, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure you sent it to the right adress? I haven't received anything in the inbox of the adress I gave up here. -- Wouterboy (talk) 17:41, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I used the email user function. Are you sure it wasn't detected as spam?
In case you can't find it, it's an invite to the next Test Server. If you want to be one of TibiaWiki representatives, just send me your character name.

I honestly don't have a clue. Try asking someone more avid in this (like User:Shockermontu).

Admin

Hey!

I think most admin things are pretty self-explanatory or well documented, but if you need any help don't hesitate to ask. A good place to look at is here. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 19:49, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I recognise most of these pages... always fun to fix some double redirects, right! Anyway, I was actually wondering if there's any page which listed all broken links, so I could turn them into working ones (or create some desperately needed pages, of course).

Congrats! And to answer your question there are 2 such pages for broken page links and file links: Special:WantedPages and Category:Pages_with_broken_file_links
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 21:41, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

Thank you! I always figured it would have to be one of those Special pages, and was quite surprised when I didn't find it there. Never thought of the possibility of it being a Category page. Anyway, another question: should mentions along the lines of "This item was first obtained in this-and-this contest" be on history pages, or on regular pages? -- Wouterboy (talk) 22:02, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

I do not think we have a strong standard on that. I think history pages are treated as a way to displace info which is currently not relevant to a particular article so as to not clog the main article. E.g. a spell used to be a different amount of mana or how an NPC used to look (old image).
Magic Longsword seems to be similar to your example, where the main page references some of the long history, which is no longer relevant to obtaining the sword, but the history page has a lot more detail. I consider this a good example to follow but feel free to elaborate on any specific areas of concern. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 02:09, May 18, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I agree that those kind of pages should be preserved. But look at Nightmare Doll/History, for example, which I marked for deletion some time ago. Not only is this information already mentioned on the actual page, it's also supposed to be mentioned on that actual page (considering the fact that this is done with all Contest Prizes). Therefore this kind of information doesn't belong on history pages, right? I just want to have this straightened out before deleting any pages. -- Wouterboy (talk) 10:42, May 18, 2014 (UTC)

I think that page can be deleted since the info is duplicated. On the other hand the owner information could all be moved to the history page. At some point it was discussed how to handle "personal" info like who owns certain rares, but there is no established standard i could find. For now i think it is best to make sure that info is not duplicated on multiple pages, whether it is all on the main page or history page. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 18:23, May 18, 2014 (UTC)

May I know why did you delete the page I was making?

Referencing trivia

Where did you find this? I assume some NPC says it or it's written in a book?

Would be cool if we could reference these historical facts, make it more wikipedia-like and encourage readers to follow references to books and NPC transcripts. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 10:08, November 1, 2014 (UTC)

I got it from a timeline made by Julien Brightside, a renowned RPG'er (here). I don't know myself which books she read or NPCs she spoke to for every piece of information. The only thing I know is that it must have taken a lot of research... -- Wouterboy (talk) 11:35, November 1, 2014 (UTC)

Oh whooh, I'm amazed (full scale version). Thanks for sharing! -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 12:57, November 1, 2014 (UTC)

Nina

Wow.. That is some mass editing. About this edit, I'm not sure what your source is, but I went to check out Nina a few days ago on TS, and made a screenshot (so I could make an outfiter image later): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14919964/tibia/2014-12-02%2015_54_43-Tibia%20Flash%20Client.png

I will make a proper image later, if you don't beat me to it. What was your source btw? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 21:38, December 5, 2014 (UTC)

I got the images from the Portuguese Tibiawiki (almost all of their pages requiring a picture have the picture). Perhaps they just based Nina's appearance on assumptions? Anyway, go ahead. I'm certainly not going to beat you to it :). -- Wouterboy (talk) 22:16, December 5, 2014 (UTC)

Dear, when some contest say

  • All entries must be submitted before January 8th, 2015, 00:00 CET.

That means that I have until "before January 8th, 2015. Untillll 00:00, that means that until 23:59, January 8th I can submite my entries.

But the worst was, I was uploading my entries in January 7th, and was missing about 4 hours until midnight.

Dear I really need your help because it is really unfair, If I was wrong I will just be sad and accept, but not in this case.

Thanks,

Yours

Jessica Maciel

I'm very sorry that days start at midnight. -- Wouterboy (talk) 10:04, January 8, 2015 (UTC)

Why would you delete the page I started just because I was the only contributor. The page was all of 2 hours old.

Name branding

Hey Wouter,

I saw you moved TibiaWiki to Tibia.Wikia. Can you convice me with good arguments for this decision? I don't really like it (to be a bit blunt). We always branded ourself as "TibiaWiki" the wiki about tibia, although later other wikis appeared. Regardless of our previous domain tibia.erig.net or our current domain tibia.wikia.com, I think we should still be called (and therefore call ourselves) "TibiaWiki".

-- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 16:45, February 18, 2015 (UTC)

I wanted to create consistency in the names we use for our fansite referrals. I thought the standard naming policy was to take the domain name and erase all URL stuff from that name (such as 'http' and 'com'). This is why I changed the names of some other fansite pages, too. However, when I started thinking about the problems it would create in our site's case (because TibiaWiki is used everywhere), and because I wasn't too sure if we even had a standard for fansite page names, I wanted to revert the edit (but apparently I forgot). I just changed it back, though. Anyway, your response isn't as much 'blunt' as it is 'logical', so don't worry. -- Wouterboy (talk) 17:08, February 18, 2015 (UTC)

I have always used common sense when it comes to fansite page names, i.e., the name the fansite owners call their fansites. I even remember moving TibiaCity to Tibiacity after talking to their staff. Although, I wouldn't like to move the article about the Brazilian Wiki to Tibia Wiki just because they call themselves that way.

Hi, just noticed that this one still remains unbanned - User:Walenty13 -- Cauli92 (talk) 11:24, April 20, 2015‎ (UTC)

Thanks for taking care of him, could you please also protect this page? They edit it what results in their hacklink files being seen on dozen of pages. http://tibia.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Protected -- Cauli92 (talk) 14:51, April 20, 2015 (UTC)

White Dress

Hello, I have a picture of the probably last white dress in Tibia, may nor many lefts, I think there is no picture about a player holding one, and I just want to share before I got retired after 16 years of play :), just make me know how I can send you the pic since I cannot upload photos! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mayesto (talkcontribs). Just put your screenshot up on an image hosting website and provide me with the link to it. I'll take care of the rest. Also, don't forget to sign your comments. -- Wouterboy (talk) 16:39, May 17, 2015 (UTC)

I cannot add a link due spam, I invite you to visit my photobucket, and look in the folder "Breaking news" and you can find the pic what I means :)

Hello Mayesto, you have such beautiful items.
I guess you're talking about this image. Could you please take another screeshot with the item on the ground (you can do it in your house). And, please, mark "Don't Stretch/Shrink Game Window" in Options → Graphics → Advanced.
And, can you tell us the story behind this item?
Thank you and good luck in RL!

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 00:10, May 18, 2015 (UTC)

Unlucky it was sold by 120kks some years ago to Imperatur Rush, i think he got namelock or so, the picture it was taken before I sold the item and was in my laptop, thats why the size of the creen, hehe and I got it from Pepelu, he got retired and gave me this item as present because we were good friends, he was a GM before and rumors say he knew many old quest and many ways to get the items, as Demon legs that he gave me to me aswell at the sametime :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mayesto (talkcontribs). Remember to sign your comments!

Just as a note as I'm editing anyway - Imperador Rush aka Slayer Rush was deleted a year or two ago on at least dozen of his high level botchars. Presumably he kept the dress along with his other rares as his house on Shanera(quite famous back then) was assigned to a safe char, Slayer House. However, since DSLs have popped up in venorean house on Nerana not long ago, it's highly likely that all of these items were sold to various buyers.
-- Cauli92 (talk) 19:32, May 18, 2015 (UTC)

Yep, possibility its true since he got golden helmet, great shield, and white dress from me by 240kks or so.. long long ago -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mayesto (talkcontribs). Remember to sign your comments!

DPL caching

Hey Wouter,

I think it's good practice to add "allowcachedresults=true" to DPL lists from which you know they don't change frequently (like daily or more often or something). It's better for performance (server load), some Wikia staff guys once told us. For the rest, good job on changing those lists to DPL, they are easy to miss with updates. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 20:49, June 5, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, the code was there on all DPLs initially, but then for some reason they wouldn't work with it, so I removed it. Now there doesn't seem to be any problem, though, so I'm going to add them now. -- Wouterboy (talk) 20:56, June 5, 2015 (UTC)

Water Tile

Hey Wouterboy!
May I know why did you replace Water Tile and Shallow Water Tile gifs? I have made a change of them not long ago as now the regular water(blue) is called "Shallow Water", while underground(light blue) is just called "Water".

Cauli92 (talk) 23:05, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

The water near Rookgaard is light blue and called Shallow Water. Should be the same for all oceans then. -- Wouterboy (talk) 23:08, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

Yes, correct, the water in ocean is indeed called Shallow Water, but the picture you have replaced is way ligher blue. The current shallow water tile(lighter) is the underground water, and the ocean water is the darker one, currently being under Water.
Check IDs 629-634 for yourself, and you will see that water from ocean is darker one - it's the only water tile that has waves on it and that's how you can easily confirm it if in-game setting/light might have confuzed you a bit.

Cauli92 (talk) 23:18, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

"You see water" will appear only underground, ex. next to steamboats in kazordoon/cormaya. See for yourself how light it is in there.

Cauli92 (talk) 23:20, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

Just reverted it, sorry. -- Wouterboy (talk) 23:26, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, and no problem at all, easy to make mistake in this kind of areas. Great job with the rest of Tiles! I will try to add some ids and images tomorrow, when I have more time.

Cauli92 (talk) 23:29, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

Small Gloothworm Tubes (Floss)

If I remember correctly there are two different kinds of these, with and without floss. That's why it has the (Floss) suffix, to allow a page about the kind without floss. -- Sixorish (talk) 12:04, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

Uh... I don't think the game actually can have "the" as an article. If you search the market you'll find that a lot of items actually have "the" as the first word in their names. The article is either a, an or blank as far as we have seen; it's "the avenger", not the "avenger". -- Sixorish (talk) 12:12, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

I changed the names of the device and the orb simply because there's no 'the' in the names for World Board, Voting Results, and Market. If what you say is true, then those three will have to be renamed (along with reversions of my two renames, of course). Also, Inbox will then have to be renamed to 'Your Inbox'. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:19, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

I agree with Sixorish, article should be either a, an or blank (according to my experience and TibiaWiki:Standards#Naming Articles). Btw, Inbox is actually named "your inbox" as you can see when you open it.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 13:13, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

I can't go there right now, so could anyone assign ids/images? Thanks

  • 21828 File:21828.gif Blocking/Immobile
  • 21829 21829 Blocking/Immobile

I guess we will actually need 4 pages?

Cauli92 (talk) 13:40, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

Alright, just fixed the article stuff. On an unrelated note, could someone add a third category parameter to the object template (something like 'tertiarytype'). One object needing this is Lever, which is a machine that occurs both as quest object and utility.

Also, Cauli, I have no idea what those pictures are supposed to represent. -- Wouterboy (talk) 14:40, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

Aren't these the Small Gloothworm Tubes this section is about? There seem to be two kinds - more and less of gloothworms and both have their before and after-raking. But I'm just assuming basing on spoiler, so it would be nice if someone could actually confirm and assign them.

Cauli92 (talk) 15:12, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

I had never seen those tubes before and had already forgotten about Six's first post, so I was dumbfounded. I'm not really in a position to confirm them either, though. -- Wouterboy (talk) 15:27, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

Tiles

Hey Wouter,

I think a lot of pages still link to tiles pages, maybe it was better if you didn't delete e.g. Ocean Floor Tile but let it redirect to Ocean Floor. You can see with Special:Whatlinkshere/Ocean Floor Tile which pages still link to it, for example. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 07:21, June 12, 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of redirects... especially ones taking the name of inaccurately named pages. You can bring them back though, if you see the need. -- Wouterboy (talk) 13:40, June 12, 2015 (UTC)

Old Parchment (Brown)

Look through the dat file. The item ID for the old parchment comes around Lion's Rock items (10.7). What evidence do you have that it's from before 10.7? -- Sixorish (talk) 11:44, June 27, 2015 (UTC)

Ugh. Just found the document that was my proof, but it is a Scroll (Brown). I have been misled.

Oh, and also, I don't even know how to access the dat file. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:00, June 27, 2015 (UTC)

Renaming Pages

When you move a page and not leave a redirect behind, please, use Special:WhatLinksHere to find and fix broken links to the old (and deleted) page name.
Today I found some broken links to "Parchment (Grey)", when I checked Special:WhatLinksHere/Parchment (Grey) I noticed there were around 50 of them. I fixed some of them, but in the end I chose to make a redirect.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 02:22, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

I don't like such redirects. There are too many of them already. Redirects should not be created just to make links work, that's not their purpose. Fewer redirects taking on a faulty name --> more organisation on the wiki. -- Wouterboy (talk) 09:08, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

Well, it's not about what we like or not, it's either that or changing it on every page one by one, else we end up having milion red links causing confusion. We simple cannot leave them like that.

Cauli92 (talk) 09:29, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

If it's the matter of few dozens of links, I guess Six could give us a hand with his bot if we nicely ask him, but what needs to be done has to be written down somewhere.

Cauli92 (talk) 09:33, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

I know it's not about we want; it's about logic and organisation, and that happens to be what we want, right? The purpose of redirects is to help players find the pages they are looking for, not to make links work. I've also seen many redirects no page even linked to, which simply existed because the box wasn't checked off when renaming the page. That makes no sense. -- Wouterboy (talk) 09:46, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

Well, it will not be organised if links on pages lead to nowhere, so to me it's more logical if we leave redirects for a while until all the potentially broken links are dealt with. That might also help with the people who know only the old name of an item they are looking for, they will have a moment to notice the page movement as they will be redirected.

Cauli92 (talk) 10:05, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

We could think of some category for cases like ~Parchment (Grey). Something like Template:RFR as "Redirect for removal". we would add it to all redirect page of this kind and ask Six to take a look at the at free time and possibly change all the wrong links from redirect to actual page. What do you think about it?

Cauli92 (talk) 10:29, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

I guess that could work. Anyhow, regarding your previous comment: the redirects you are speaking of are the useful ones, which should of course be retained and even specifically created. There is no use for redirects not helping the users of our wiki, however. When someone sees the grey parchment in-game, they will look for 'Parchment' rather than 'Parchment (Grey)', so such redirects only function to make links work. You are right that every link should then get updated, and I try to do so by using the page Hunter mentioned, but that's inconvenient because many items in the same category have it in the 'Related Items' section of the page and therefore don't actually link to the wrong one anymore. As some time has passed since the renaming this problem is now gone, and therefore I will stand by my words and both update all of the pages really linking to it and delete the redirect Hunter created later today. -- Wouterboy (talk) 10:39, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

Regarding the existence of old unnecessary redirects, in the past we did not have the box to not create a redirect when renaming a page. Things changed, now we have this option but we still have many unused redirects (that's even one of our deletion reasons) and something has to be done.

Your Recent Edits

Hey Wouterboy,
I didn't understand some of the changes you made to the content I added to some pages today.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 03:33, August 8, 2015 (UTC)

  • The pages have nothing to do with each other. I thought such similarities in names was noted above the template instead of in the notes (didn't think of doing that, though)?
  • The fewer bytes = the cleaner the edit page = the better, right?

  • I don't remember any standard related to this. Anyway, when we see a solution to a problem that is not the standard one, we should apply the standard solution instead of leaving the problem with no solution.
  • It's subjective. Someone could argue that we should use the items' and creatures' actual name to be more more accurate. Again, we don't have standards supporting any of these points of view.
  • Sorry?

Grimeleech sound

Hello. The Grimeleech is not expected to say proper english. I think we ought to be as accurate (to the source) as possible when describing its sound. Thascius (talk) 14:39, November 11, 2015 (UTC)

Including a space before an ellipsis is simply incorrect orthography, and has nothing to do with the Grimeleeches' command of the English language. We admins have decided some time ago that when Cipsoft makes a mistake such as this one we correct it. This is also what the caption on the card already does. -- Wouterboy (talk) 15:19, November 11, 2015 (UTC)

If you are sure it is a mistake, not intentional (figure of speech), and the admins have decided so, I have nothing to add... but the caption reads Death...Taste (with no space). Thascius (talk) 16:00, November 11, 2015 (UTC)

I mean no space between "..." and "Taste". Thascius (talk) 16:05, November 11, 2015 (UTC)

Vandalism warning

Hi, could you please fix this page I edited on Pharaoh sword, that is, it appears this red box with a warning saying some sort of a vandalism thing, I meant to correct the pricing, making it more adjustable to the game on each server, with this respawning boss that makes it easier to loot like the other pharaohs. Thanks

Wikwak (talk) 20:32, March 21, 2016 (UTC)

We dealt with a large wave of vandalism here rather recently, so that box is a warning to other users that some user (in this case you) that cannot necessarily be trusted (low edit count and not whitelisted) has edited the page. Your edit is of course totally fine, so please don't take it personally. -- Wouterboy (talk) 21:07, March 21, 2016 (UTC)

Basilisk changes

Hi, I would really like to know why the changes I made on that page were reverted considering the information is correct?

The video you saw was shot on an OT server. -- Wouterboy (talk) 18:02, August 8, 2016 (UTC)

Hello.

Was wondering if u can help little bit. I haven't been doing editing for long time, lost info about my old account so i created new one.

My question is: "Can i,if im allowed, how i can edit picture and info about new item...example: i have enchated rod of mayhem for 150lvl and wanted to edit picture and info about it"?

Tabox (talk) 15:33, August 11, 2016 (UTC)

Greetings.

Today i jumped into vortex that lead me to the nightmares of Gaz'haragoth. I wanted to check their abilities and add here, but I'm not allowed to add this info because it's saying it's spam or something like that.

Some info that I've gathered was: their Melee (0-500),Distance attack that does Life Drain damage (500-800),Some kind of beam (like energy beam) that does life drain (500-1000). If u don't believe me,then please go check on your own. It's funy not have this info and so much time has passed.

Better have some info then nothing at all for some creatures. There are some things that was not shared,i don't know why people keep hidding here that info....

Twines (Creature)

Are you sure such creature exists?

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 17:53, August 20, 2016 (UTC)

I am. Two of them were shooting Earth Missiles at me while I was fighting Boreth. The quest page still referred to them as Plaguethrowers back then, but that's incorrect. -- Wouterboy (talk) 19:42, August 20, 2016 (UTC)

If you try cast Summon Creature or Creature Illusion on that monster, you get a message saying it doesn't exist.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 00:16, August 21, 2016 (UTC)

That's odd. You can go check it out at Boreth's yourself if you want. -- Wouterboy (talk) 10:12, August 21, 2016 (UTC)

I asked Art to check it for me last year. The damage message is something like "You lose XX hitpoints due to an attack by a plaguethrower." So, the creature you mentioned is actually a Plaguethrower.

The confusion might have happened because this kind of creature, I believe they are all categorized as trap creatures, which we can't see the name and life bar in the game window and they don't appear in the Battle list are actually invisible. Just because Cip initially placed all ~throwers on Oriental Pillar, we thought they shared the same sprite as the object. Interestingly, Cip has made the same with Opticorder Forge (NPC), Mysterious Ornate Chest (NPC) and Mysterious Device - they are "invisible" NPCs placed over objects.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 23:38, June 28, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I remember discussing this with you over Facebook, and I stand corrected. -- Wouterboy (talk) 23:19, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

Update Name Standards

We should follow Cip's standards which is "Summer / Winter Update year".

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 16:01, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

But we shouldn't take over their errors, right? -- Wouterboy (talk) 21:15, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

CipSoft is the one who develops the game and, consequently, its updates and patches. Cip can name them as they please. We just accept the names as they are. For example, if Cip wanted to call the new client "Tibia 2016" instead of "Tibia 11", we would call it "Tibia 2016".

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 01:13, November 12, 2016 (UTC)

Tibia 11 and other update/patch numbers are of course as official as can be, but "Summer / Winter Update year" is just a colloquial way of referring to one of these numbers. It's nothing official and therefore just incorrectly formatted English. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:28, November 12, 2016 (UTC)

Just out of curiosity, what English grammar/formatting rules would make you say this? My English language feeling feels more for "Winter Update 2016" (sort of short for "the Winter Update of 2016") than "2016 Winter Update". -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 09:56, November 13, 2016 (UTC)

The year is used adjectivally in such constructions. Check out Wikipedia and you'll see this is the norm in English. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:35, November 13, 2016 (UTC)

Some game franchises as FIFA and PES/Winning Eleven follow the same naming standard as "Summer / Winter Update year".

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 23:38, June 28, 2017 (UTC)

If it's deemed an acceptable alternative across the English-speaking world (as you indicate), then I no longer see a problem with using it on this wiki as well. -- Wouterboy (talk) 23:19, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

Plural of "tooth file"

According to this automatic edit, the ingame plural form of "tooth file" is "teeth file". There's also a chance for "teeth files" with the final "s" being suppressed.

Have you checked this item's plural form ingame before making this edit?

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 23:38, June 28, 2017 (UTC)

Better ignore Cipsoft's take on the matter. I'd report it as a bug if I were you, as the only correct plural is 'tooth files'. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:15, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I know. However, this wiki is about how the game is, not how it should be. Otherwise, we would have to fix all typos in books, for example.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 12:27, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

Cipsoft can blame typos in books on intermediaries, i.e. in-game authors. However, they are directly responsible for any mistakes that transcend the in-game realm, with the way they name stuff being a prime example. If they claim Tibia is an English-language game, they should adhere to the guidelines of English. The way 'teeth file' should be treated is no different from the way you would treat some typo in the newly-added Compendium, for example, or a typo in an article on the website. Such mistakes are part of the real universe, not the game universe. To put it another way, names of objects are meant for the players of the game (in the same way e.g. the Compendium and the website are), not for the characters those players control. -- Wouterboy (talk) 23:04, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

What if someone look at a stack of teeth files (or teeth file, I couldn't check it yet) ingame and search for the plural name on TibiaWiki? If the plural in Tooth File is tooth files, "Tooth File" won't show up as the first search result and the visitor won't easily find it.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 23:24, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

That's why it should be reported to Cip and treated as any other bug. If Cip had misspelled 'Compendium', for example, players might have come looking for the misspelled version on the wiki and not find anything, as we would not have taken over a non-word. We should point out such mistakes to Cip rather than accommodate for them, and it's not unreasonable of us to fix Cip's mistakes before Cip officially do so themselves. -- Wouterboy (talk) 13:14, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

Are you saying that while a typo isn't fixed by Cip (typos always have low priority for them), our visitors will not be able to find the information they're looking for in our wiki? Does it make sense to you?

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 15:15, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

Can't we fix the spelling on the wiki and redirect the wrong spelling to the correct one? In that way people can find it on the wiki, looking for either of the spellings. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 18:48, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

We're not talking about an article's name, but an item's parameter (plural). If you search for a parameter, you'll find the article that contains it even if it is only visible while editing the page.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 19:17, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

All I'm saying is that I find it a bit extreme to take over such mistakes. Besides, if people with a stack of tooth files really want to arrive at the page Tooth File, they would probably first try to look for the singular anyway, as that's the template wikis tend to use for naming their pages. I just think that they'll be able to find the information they're looking for with no problems whatsoever regardless of what the plural parameter says. -- Wouterboy (talk) 22:08, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

Medusa Tower

Hi there, I like your avatar...it looks like an Indigo Bunting which I have many photographs of   The reason I'm contacting you is that I'm trying to improve the Medusa Tower page.  I want to expand it and include tips and images on how to hunt it.  I don't have a lot of experience with constructing or updating a wiki.   I added a lot of images and discovered today that I added an entire series of images and tips under the wrong heading.  I posted them under "First Floor" when I should have posted them under "Ground Floor."   I also inserted a bunch of images individually and somebody, I think, put them in a gallery.   I would like to move them under the correct floor, moving the gallery from "First Floor" to "Ground Floor."   Can you help me?

Alexander the Grape

Why did you delete my article? Alexander the Grape is way more famous on Amera now than eternal oblivion was then, he deserves an article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HaItsMe (talkcontribs) 16:46, January 5, 2018. Remember to sign your comments!

I disagree. Eternal Oblivion was considered a legend across all servers, not just on his home server. -- Wouterboy (talk) 18:55, January 5, 2018 (UTC)

So why can't just any player have an article so long as the article is correct? Is there some kind of article maximum? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HaItsMe (talkcontribs) 22:57, January 5, 2018. Remember to sign your comments!

There are strict Guidelines regarding characters that are considered famous enough to have their own page here on TibiaWiki. You can find these guidelines here: Historic Players. As you can see there very few characters that fall under that category. One of the main reasons is that the character's importance must be recognized among all servers, not just in one. - Molx (talk) 14:52, January 6, 2018 (UTC)

This wiki only covers things that are actually pertinent to the game of Tibia, not simply everything that's merely related to it. As Molx explained, there are hardly any players of the game that reach the high standards required to be considered a pertinent/historic part of Tibia. Moreover, our wiki's users would soon drown in information that's in no way relevant to them if we were to allow anyone to make a page about their character. -- Wouterboy (talk) 18:16, January 6, 2018 (UTC)

Scurge of Scarabs

1. Why have moved this page to "Scourge of Scarabs"?

2. Why did you move it without leaving a redirect? The old name is already consolidated.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 16:43, January 21, 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, I completely messed that up, sorry. I just rolled everything back. I didn't leave a redirect because I reckoned nothing would prompt anyone anymore to go looking for the misspelled name, although I just realized that old mentions of the achievement anywhere around the web could still have that effect and consequently necessitate a redirect regardless. -- Wouterboy (talk) 17:49, January 21, 2018 (UTC)

Objects without sprites

Hey Wouterboy,

I noticed you have been adding information regarding some objects that do not have sprites uploaded. This is something I try to work on every now and then, but it's very inefficient since it requires actually searching for the objects in game, and some times there's not even location information on their pages.

Anyway, since you've been visiting them, I think it would be nice if we could use the opportunity to get their sprites for wiki. There are 2 ways we can do it:

  1. I can share with you the dat reader I have and you can search for the IDs yourself;
    1. In this case you can either simply add the itemid to the page and I take care of uploading the sprite;
    2. Or you generate the GIF and upload yourself
  2. You can send me a screenshot of the object so I can look for its ID and do stuff.

Regarding 1., since the reader is not public we would need to talk in private about it. :)

Molx (talk) 14:59, August 31, 2018 (UTC)

Cauli provided me with the reader some time ago, and I just added some IDs. However, since it's so long ago that I made many of these pages, I often don't remember myself what exactly the objects looked like (especially if CipSoft keeps introducing such similar-looking objects...). I had no idea ID omissions made things so much harder for those looking to upload the sprites, though, so I will definitely be more thoughtful in the future. -- Wouterboy (talk) 16:56, August 31, 2018 (UTC)

Jules Fortescue

I noticed you created a few book pages including Map of the Old Sewers of Rathleton. I got curious about the author of such book, Jules Fortescue. She has the same surname as Mr. Wilbur Fortescue Brandon. I wonder if you've also noticed this and if you've tried to talk to Mr Brandon about her. It might be worth talking to Roswitha, too.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 02:26, April 12, 2019 (UTC)

I noticed that too and talked to Roswitha about it, but I got no response. I might try Mr Brandon later on. -- Wouterboy (talk) 12:25, April 12, 2019 (UTC)
