Yes you can make the key list kinda the same as quest list to put a kinda page as in order of quests instead of looking in number order by place. (Slect by number or select by place)

outfits

I don't know where else to suggest this, so I'll do it here since your character page is the basis of most other people's.

There are templates for damage calculation, for rune making costs, etc. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a template to display which outfits you have on your character? Unfortunately, I lack the knowledge to make this myself. I did think about how the input could be though:

I have been thinking about this a little, but I am kinda stuck on it.

What do you expect it will look like? Just a series of pictures of the outfits you have gained? Would there be some "placeholder" image for outfits you have not obtained? Some fancy formatted table (which would end up taking a full page)?

I kinda want you to think about it a little bit, too, but I also am wondering what you kinda expected.

Well, I just saw your outfits page and I must say I'm impressed. This is a perfect visualisation of what is needed for a certain addon, plus it displays the image :) What I was thinking is something like you did there, but then even more user friendly by putting it all in a template. You could write...

{{Template:Outfits/Summoner Outfits|
| apefur = 10
| honeycomb = 35
# etc, you get the point
|}}

...which would display one of those fancy tables with all required items. In the above example, I'm talking about a template for a full outfit, which would include all items needed to get the outfit and all addons for that outfit. My suggestion would be making separate templates for each outfit/addon. Those templates only include how many of which items are needed, and are based on another template which creates the tables based on the calculated numbers.

I do realise this sounds like a lot of work though :) So don't worry, I'm just sharing my thoughts.

Alright, I finally got around to making some of those templates:

I didn't do more than that. Most of the other outfits and addons should not have templates like this, since they only require one kind of item, or only one or two items. These templates only apply to outfits and addons that require a large number of items.

I'd like to add some more templates I made this morning:

I added new base and called it base2 so that it will use Addon 1.gif pictures. It is the same as base just with this little correction. And, btw, preview picture is not good in Assassin Outfit template as it uses base for template, and template:base shows addons, not outfits. I think it should be made another base for showing outfits.

Thanks for doing that, Djomla, but it was really unnecessary to make ones for the Druid Paw addon, or the Citizen backpack addon... you only need to collect two different kinds of items for these. I won't delete them, but it would probably be best to only make these templates for outfits/addons where you need to collect at least 3-4 different kinds of items.

I changed a little bit your Assassin Outfit temp to add appropriate image, and than figured out that there was no need for adding base2 as image can be changed without it, but, who will change all that. Keep it as is :) p.s. If u think there should be more temps, just tell, I'll made them.

Mysteries

Is there a page about mysteries in this wiki? (With mysteries I mean things like Colossus in Kazordoon, GM Island, how to talk to Arkhotep etc.) I haven't found one and it would be nice to have one :)

No, there is not a page about mysteries in Tibia yet. The closest thing I think we have in the quest spoiler for the Serpentine Tower Quest... it is incomplete, and there is an ongoing discussion about it on its talk page.

I think I would be a little cautious about making such a page. It would be great to have that information on the wiki, but since I'm sure all of the information it might contain would be considered quest spoiling, it needs to be done carefully.

Maybe the page could be exclusively "Unsolved Mysteries".... then as soon as any confirmed information is discovered, that particular item is moved to its own quest page/spoiler (like the Serpentine Tower Quest).

regarding the infobox

I have seen and also worked along with your new adjustment of the infoboxes to automatically include the items category whilst checking the item class. I would like to know if what you have done works in both ways with the creatures, too. (As in, for example in a Fire Elemental page to display who are the elementals of Tibia and so on). If the infobox is edited to work that way, let me know, and I'll add the templates and remove the category links in the pages, the same way I did with the helmets, light sources, food and other stuff along with Pudd.

Edit: I have seen how the infobox works, it checks the class and tries to find the corresponding page in the templates pages.. perhaps we should edit it to include another parsing to the template Infobox_Creature, in a way we could add the race of the creature and thus adjust to the new template standard you have created.

For creatures, it is more complicated than that. I'm still trying to figure out something good for creatures... I'm sure it will look a lot like the new lists for items, but I haven't figured out how it will work behind the scenes yet.

Items' Category Revision

Hello there. I've thought about doing a full revision on all items pages, to fix their categories (and their respective lists). I know it will be a huge job, but I'm up to it. I'll also take the chance for applying certain standards (like weight always with YY.X0 oz, etc).
However, I supposed you could be working with similar project, so I'm asking here first to avoid working uselessly on something that will change in a near future. So, let me know what are your plans and I'll be able, then, to know what exactly to work with ^^

I think that would be fine, to fix the "itemclass" for the items... it has been a while since that's been done across the board, and I don't have any "big plans" to change how that works.

Keep in mind, that items can only have one "itemclass", but they can belong to multiple categories. Clearly the "itemclass" should be the primary group that the item belongs to.

I was adding the items template to the Infobox_Item template, and there is going to be an unforeseen side-effect... and spoiler tags and everything placed outside of the infobox template will be pushed to the bottom of the page. This makes any notes like this basically "hidden" on the bottom of the page. As I see it, we have two options (don't hate me, I'm only the messenger):

  1. re-add the items template to the bottom of every page (I don't like this idea very much)
  2. find every place that has any text placed outside the infobox template, and move it into the "notes" section of the infobox (better solution, but still lots of work)
  3. leave the items template off and pretend it doesn't exist (also seems like a poor solution, but would simplify the issue)

Is there any other ideas? What do you guys think?

I had this on mind, a long time ago.. ;P In the start I added the spoiler inside notes and then moved out... well I think solution 2 is fair better and easier. Leaving pages without item template would be a "poor" way, spoilers, we have many but including items again is much harder.. I'll start moving spoilers to notes today, not now, but tonight

I don't like the idea of not leaving the items template, however we could try to work a roundabout on this issue. You could, for instance create something that would work a lot like the spoiler extension, but instead of being the spoiler, it's something that would show "Click here to show all the items classes". That way, it would work a lot better, by clicking in that button, it would extend the boxes with the items category, and beneath it, it would show the spoiler information. It's still weird, but better than leaving the pages without any kind of items template, and it could even be fixed alongside the spoiler information without making the page too messy.

It's your call, though.

There seems to be some limitation in the wiki software that will not allow the spoiler block to be used in a template... it has to be on the final page.... what that means is we cannot use the spoiler tags in the Infobox Item template... anything in the spoiler tags seems to be discarded.

I think the best solution is to move the spoilers and other things into the notes section of the infobox, but I am still open to more ideas.

About key list

I was adding missing list for the items infobox, and then on the keys I got a doubt:

Making a list of colors (cooper, silver, etc) or make a list like it's on the keys page, refering to their places... ?

Another option would be listing the keys in numerical order. Depending on how the list will look, numerical might be the cleanest approach. ~ Uno time


The other option would be to just have "Keys_List" be a full list of all keys... probably sorted numerically.

What do you think would be most useful? When looking at a key page, what makes the most sense for a list on the side?

In my opinion as a player, I would first search for their color (example, I have a cooper key #xxxx I'll see cooper keys). BUT, sorting then numerical is somehow better, since every key, doesn't matter the color have your own number, the color is just some reference... but what do you think is better? Numerical or color? (I just discard the location sorting, it's completely useless)

That would be the easiest way to do it, but consider this.... there seems to be two main ways that people look for keys. First of all... they might have the key number, and want to know what the key is for... another common thing is that a person comes across a locked door, and wants to know which key fits it.

As far as I know, both of these scenarios are common, and I don't know which would be "best" to use on the key pages.

Maybe there's an alternative to the lists like we have on items pages? Any ideas?

Creature Templates

As you may or may not have noticed, I have been trying to make the creature pages more identical to each other (though not as fast as I had hoped). I have a couple of proposals concerning the creature pages. First, I would like to propose the deletion of the sub-sub-templates (ie necromancers) as most of the creatures in these categorys can be shared among many creatures and just seems to make an uneccesary loop in finding creatures. Second, I like how the item lists turned out and I was wondering if that could be done with the creature sub templates (ie human-like, animals). I don't know much about coding so I would probably need someone else to create the template. If a list template was created for each sub category, that would also make the previous sub templates deletable. Thanks and I can't wait to hear from you. ~ Uno time


I agree. Yes, I am working on a way to add lists similar to the items list, but there are some issues I need to work out first (I want to do it right the first time).

Expect to see something in the next week or so. Until then, it's probably best to just leave the "sub-sub-templates" as they are.

I have an idea, maybe very simple and not creative, but it would copy somehow items infobox... Add a list of similar creatures to the right, and create a template similar to {{Items}} for creatures. It's not an original idea, but I think it's better than many sub sub sub templates..

One of the issues with creatures is that there is no "creaturetype" or "class" value, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to choose one for each creature (Maverick suggested this before). I am trying to figure out a "good" way to have multiple lists for any given creature, but the largest problem seems to be formatting and appearance... I'm having trouble getting something that is functional, looks good and is easy to read. I'm also in the middle of another project... but hopefully I'll get to this one soon.
