Need Some Help with a Few Things

Winter Wolf

Hello Whitelaces,

I was wondering if you could help me with a few things,

First I think we should move the Wyvern to the Reptile Misc Catagory, since it makes more sense than the Lizard Catagory.

And then I think we can remove the please delete this page tempalte form the Shenlong Sword page, I posted an offical picture from the www.tibia.com showing the Shenlong on the talk page to clear everything up.

If you could help with these small matters when you have some time I would greatly appreciate it. ^_^

Regards,

Jake Command Wolf

I understand you are confused, but according to tibia.com Wyverns are lizards. I quote: Some scholars consider the Wyvern as a distant cousin of the dragons. This is far from truth though. The Wyvern we know nowadays are the result of constant breeding of some significantly smaller, only mildly poisonous flying lizards. retrieved from wyvern page About the Shenlong Sword, your picture only proves the sprite exists. It doesn't prove it's actually an ingame item.

Winter Wolf

Yes, Yes, but they are reptiles more than lizards, Wyverns are in no way dircetly related to the Lizard race, and now than we have broader categories to categorize them it makes more sense to but them in the reptile misc category, as it looks rather silly where it is.

And as far as the Shenlong, we dont need to delete it, if I may take a quote from myself on the Shenlong talk page [1]:

"Since the Shelong can be seen in an offical screenshot, as far as I can see it is a real weapon, weather or not its named the Shenlong Sword, if its looted from an Undead Dragon, if its stats are what are stated, or if it was ever looted is all up in the air, but I can say for certain that the Shenlong is a real weapon."

I rest my case. ^_^

Administrater Issue

Hi Whitelaces,

In the discussion about this here Erig left the task for you to add/remove administrators since you are a bureaucrat. You lacked rights to remove admins and needed to contact wikia staff. I wondered if you had done this. There are 2 admins who weren't active for over 1 year, User:Diggersmith and User:Rune Farmer. It makes sense you can't remove admins, if I may quote from here, They are able to add users to the 'administrator' group, but not remove them. If you aren't that busy in real-life, could you sort this out please? If you won't read this in the next few weeks I'll ask it to erig.

Thanks in advance,

Your character damage template...

Hey, just checked your template and i see a few problems...

i have a lvl 43 pally with skills 80/67.

I have max mana of 575 and it only shows 560.

Also i have noticed that the Max Weapon damage is not correct. Its says that max Distance damage is 250, but i have hit a max of 283 so far with a weapon that has a weaker attack than the one i have stated.

I use royal spear:

This item is in the Weapons class. Royal Spear It can only be wielded properly by players of level 25 or higher. Attributes: Atk: 35, Def: 0, 3 Sq. range, stackable.

I have stated that i use Enchated spear:

This item is in the Weapons class. Enchanted Spear It can only be wielded properly by players of level 42 or higher. Attributes: Atk: 38, Def: 0, 4 Sq. range, stackable

Maybe you could also add attack spells to the template too?

I think it may already have some for mages, but the pallys spells such as divine missile and divine caldera would be cool to add if possible.

Anyways if i can help you with gaining information to use for the template, such as max damage and things like that i will be happy to help.

None creature category

Why is it that there a create list for none in the creature list scroll box to the right of the creature infobox. If anything why is it called none?Craggles

It took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about.

It looks like that is an unexpected result of changing the way our templates work in order to improve performance (transcluding the template from a sub-page and separating it from the documentation). I think I know how to fix it, but my edit is being blocked by the spam filter.

I'm trying to send a message right now to Wikia to see what we can do.

I used a different solution for e.g. the Wyvern page. Adding the code secondarytypewill fix it. This is of course by default 'none'which creates a creature class called none.

When I am editing the common block reasons and common delete reasons and press Show changes button, it's the same when a new page is being created. And there aren't edit history for these pages here nor here. Can I edit these pages? I would to know the page of common delete images reasons too.

Those are just the defaults. Creating those pages will change the lists, but the default values are defined by Wikia staff, and they are there even if the page does not exist.

How do you create a new page?

Winter Wolf

Hello aging Whitelaces,

I know to you as an admin this may be a silly question but are normal users like myself able to create new pages on the Main Page? I have looked high and low but have not found a help page on the general Wiki page about acuttaly how to create a new page.

I'm asking because I wanted to create a page called "Norse Set" since there are many norse themed weapons since the 2007 Winter Update, more than enough for a set.

If you could shed some light on this subject I would be very grateful. ^_^

Regards,

Jake Command Wolf

Bow The Wolf Paladin Wolf Tooth Chain

I'm not an administrator but i know how to create a new page :P you just have to write on the browser "Norse Set" and then click on the message that says "create this page"
Ghazbaran  Rafailo Sagara   Talk  Contriutions  Morgaroth 00:23, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

To then get it linked on the front page you'd need to ask an admin like whitelaces to put it there
Craggles

---

These guys are right, Jake. To make a page, the easiest way is to simply point your browser to the URL where the page would be, then it will allow you to "Edit" and create the page.

Another way would be to go to the Sets page and add a link to the article you want to create. When you click on that new link, it will let you create the new page.

Whitelaces, Inreference to your tasklist didn't we fix the Template:Legs and Template:Lizards by adding the item list, side scroll boxes and other such

Craggles

You are correct, craggles. I haven't updated my to do list for a while, and I've been very busy with RL since my wife had a baby.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, though! I'll go ahead and update it real quick.

Creature Images:
Is there anyway of creating a template that will automatically assign the same categories as in it's creature counterpart?

Craggles

Nope. To the best of my knowledge, there is no "easy" way to do that. The only automated way I can think of would be to make a Mediawiki bot to do it.

-- Nullum gratuitum prandium
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 19:20, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Is there a method of creating a template that refers to the conetents of a page you define? So the template would pick out data from another template from another page.

Craggles

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but you may find the answer by reading up on substitution.

If you can't find the answer there, then please explain your question a little more.

Pictures

Hello

I'm quite new here, I have made some edits on wiki already(I hope I did it right). However even after reading what I think is all the guides I still have several questions. For example I'm unsure about how to upload a picture of a NPC. Is there any way I could contact you that is easier than "user talk". Or is there any more detailed guide about how to add pictures from the game? Hope you can help me! Since I asked Craggles, and he didn't know either.

Kseni Of Chimera 15:17, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Kseni, I made a guide about npc pictures some time ago, Help:Screenshot Guide. It might be bad or unclear so for any questions you can ask me here or Hunter of Dragoes or Pudd Knight. They are very good at it and I, well I uploaded like 300 npc pictures :) Good luck!

A Slight Error

Winter Wolf

Hello yet aging Whitelaces,

Thanks to you and the others for your help, i cant belive i did not notice that before, or did and forgot about it. ^_^

But back on subject,

I noticed that they wyvern has disspeared form the global creature list. (aka the {{}} catagory)

A few weeks ago I tried to move the Wyvern into the Reptile Misc Catagory, but it removed him all togeather. I than undid my own revison an the Wyvern reappeared in the Lizard Catatgory.

I didn't notice it until now but I'm quite sure how it happend and hope I didn't do it by mistake. ^_^

Could you look into the matter when you have the chance?

Regards,

Jake Command Wolf

Bow The Wolf Paladin Wolf Tooth Chain

Btw- turns out the Norse Set already existed in the Barbarian Set. ^_^;; oops, good thing I caught that before I created it.

1, The tibia library specifically says they're lizards so moving them to Reptiles (misc) is an unnecessary move (misc moves everything but the defined).
2, You (I assume) set the secondary type as Reptiles (misc) also this does is say this creature is both the primary and the secondary where the primary tends to take priority. If you intend to edit the Classes of creature in future think long hard about how it will fit in, the consequences, why you're doing it, and whether the tibia.com library says different. Please also try and keep the same creature in only one type. I can only think of a single situation where the secondary type is necessary and that's with the ruthless seven, the triangle of terror, and them both being archdemons. I know your intentions were good but I've spent a long time categorizing these creatures and I'm pretty sure they're in fairly good working order now.

Craggles

I added that secondary type line. Otherwise it will be in the None catagory. You say I shouldn't add it?

^^  º Bennie º  ¤ Talk ¤  º Credits º  ^^ 10:56, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm saying whitelaces said he'd fix that secondary type = none line and that putting a wyvern as a miscv reptile aswell is wrong to me.

I'm just trying to be gracious and help, incase you haven't noticed this page becomes more freeform discussion after a while anyway, and I sincerely felt that my input was both useful and direly necessary. I really don't want you taking a wrong turning and editing several pages with incorrect information.

Craggles

Winter Wolf

Yes but i was adressing a simple technical question to whitelaces, and if you take a close look at what I said at the head of this title I UNDID what I had done with the undo function, for some reason the wyvern has disseaperd from the alphapical list of monsters, weather its my fault or not doesn't matter.

Regards,

Jake Command Wolf

Would you have rathered me message you directly? i had to say what i said one way or another and I thought it'd be best here.

Spell infobox

Could you add a few more categories other than just attack spells, such as, Holy Damage Spells, Fire Damage Spells, Death Damage Spells, Earth Damage Spells, Energy Damage Spells, Physical Damage Spells, Ice Damage Spells; and the same but for runes if you can. I'd like to reorganise the spells and runes section if possible. See User:Craggles/Spells

Craggles

Thanks for stepping in and helping answer some of these questions you guys. I don't mind when other users answer questions on my talk page. I will almost always put my answer here, too, when I have time, so I appreciate splitting the questions up under their own headers whenever possible (that makes it easier for everyone to read).

Concerning the "None" category of creatures, I updated the template, and when it has propagated to all of the creature pages, it should be fixed. This will also take care of the "None" list on the right side of the infobox on creature pages. If a creature does not need or have a "secondarytype", then simply remove that parameter or set it to "None".

About the spell groups, go for it, Craggles. That template is not protected, so you should be able to edit it. If you are making dramatic changes, then it may be a good idea to post on the talk page and ask for some input before changing it, but I have no problems with reorganizing different areas when they need it.

-- Ridiculum sum, ergo sum
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 21:26, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

The infobox is protected and that's mainly what needs to be changed. Instead of the attack group section I'd like it to be broken down into elemental attack damage groups

Craggles

Template:Spells is not protected (it's not actually part of the Spell Infobox). Is there some other page you were talking about?

-- Braccae tuae aperiuntur
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 21:37, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I was under the impression that the infobox needed editing to add a new class of spells but nevermind

Craggles

Hate to burden you but would it be possible for you to edit the spell infobox so it says "This is an Instant Spell or This is a Rune Spell In the top right hand corner like with the creature types of the creature infobox. Please
Also the None glitch is still broken - leaving as blank or none or removing it completely won't work

Craggles

The "None" creature category will go away when the edit I made to the template propagates to all of the creature pages. Right now the Job queue is pretty big, so it may be a couple days.

About the spell infobox, it says that right under the spell name, so the information is there. Is there some other reason you think it should be added?

-- Omnis Minervae homo Petronius.
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 12:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

So it adheres to how the creature infobox is laid out, creatureclass in the top right (spell class in spells and runes cases) a scroll box of other spells in that group i.e physical damage spells healing runes fields runes.

Craggles

Oh, I see what you mean.

Yeah, re-formatting the infoboxes to have a more standard look has been on my mind for a LONG time, but I haven't taken the time to do it.

I can't get to it right now, I'm just too busy with rl, but I will add it to my list and hopefully it won't be overlooked for long.

about User: Slyver

Take a look at what he have been doing; changing correct information to incorrect (Seromontis and MDW pages) and he f*cked up the keltera page.

//JockeLundberg 18:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

It looks like he is just trying to clean things up a little bit. I don't think he's trying to vandalize the pages or add incorrect information.

I suggest you post a message on his talk page letting him know what information he changed was incorrect.

Next time you edit some incorrect info, try putting an explanation about why in the "Summary" box on the edit page. This way people will know why you are making the edit.

It looks like Slyver is just trying to make normal edits like everyone else, and I think he will respond well to a simple message on his talk page.
