Hi,

this user made a page about nothing, i tried to delete it, but i cant seem to. I marked it for deletion. he also made offensive language on it. I removed it.

Please, inform me if i can somehow delete pages? Im active during the day when not many are. I would like to help make this wiki clear of vanadals.:)

The warning on his talk page is sufficient for now. If it continues, then he'll be blocked from editing. Art deleted the page for you. You have to have sysop privileges on the wiki to delete items. I think you handled it very well. Thanks!

You're welcome. I try to check during the day (atleast for me), so i see most vanadals quit soon and can take actions.. I will just mark for deletion then.:)

Classing

Hi Whitelaces, I got a question about classifiying items/objects. Some objects could be placed in 2 object classes. E.g. a Wall Lamp could be on Wall Hangables and in Illumination. If you but two lines with those 2 object classes on the object page the dpl table will only read out one of them. I think I understand why, it's like with CSS, the cascading arguments (which is stronger) will be followed, e.g. if body says background-color: white and table says background-color: red the table argument will be followed because it's stronger. Is there a way to put 1 object in two classes? Thanks in advance,

It's actually based on the article categories. I added a "secondarytype" parameter to the object template, you can look at the wall lamp page to see how to add it to other object pages, when necessary.

This is very similar to how the Items template works, but without a lot of the other "bells and whistles". If I get around to it, I'll add the lists on the right and some other things to make them more alike.

HTML Tables

Hi,

im trying to make a image the background of a table, take a look here. This works for html, but not here. Is it even possible? Let me know if you know any thing more. Thanx.

I also tried that at one time (when I was re-writing the main page), and I discovered that it is, sadly, not possible. Because it could be a very large security hole, the wiki parser will not allow it. It will either remove background declaration, or it will convert it to literal text (depending on how you try to set the background).

The closest that a normal user will be able to come, is setting the class on the table, and editing their user css to set the background image.

Ok, thank for the clerification. I was trying to update the Skills template close to the 'real' thing. Sadly, but so. Maby some day.....

Looks like he was just goofing off. I left a message on his talk page.

About deleting the forum, I don't know if we should yet. Forums definitely act differently than wikis, and serve a different purpose. Maybe it would be a good idea to couple a forum with the wiki to facilitate community among the wiki users. Then again, maybe it would confuse people about how the wiki should be used, and may cause a lot of people to start treating the wiki like a forum... I don't know.

Thank you for reporting, but I don't think it's needed as he has been reverting his edits. I have a feeling it's a new guy simply testing the wiki features. If he starts vandalising again, but without putting all together afterwards, we'll block him.

Infobox NPC

Hi Whitelaces, I got a question. The situation now forces to manually add a link for the npc pictures on their page. I think the NPC pictures should be included in their infobox. I want to have it looked like items or objects infoboxes. I tried something on my testpage but it didn't quite worke out very well. I know you are busy but maybe you could take a look at it and change the Template:Infobox NPC (since it is protected). Thanks in advance,

TavinBot_TypeLists

I don't know how wiki bots work, but yours seems to have an error. It is listing Avalanche on Template:Arena_Bosses_List and Template:Cryo-Elementals_List when it should be Avalanche (Creature). Think you could fix it?

→  « Alreth »  « Talk »  « Contributions »  ← 22:23, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

All of my bots are actually disabled since we implemented DPL2. All pages can just me manually edited for errors, or better yet, converted to use DPL2.

Now that I look at it, that page is not even used anymore. The creature and items infoboxes now have embedded DPL lists where these template lists once were.

I got no idea what DPL is. I'm not as advanced in wiki coding as you are and haven't been active here the past year or so. :-P

DPL is actually very cool, and has relieved a lot of the maintenance requirements for this wiki.

The documentation for it can be found here: http://semeb.com/dpldemo/index.php?title=Dynamic_Page_List

I feel like a cave man when I visit the wiki nowdays with all these new cool DPLs, bots and template stuff. ^^ I remember the good old days when we actually did all the work ourselves. ;-)

Javascripts

Is it possible to use javascripts on the wiki in some way? I was looking at the Route: Demona and those maps are horrible. So I made a new bit it's quite large and best viewed using a javascript which replaces the images, enabling you to go down or up a floor in the map. You can have a look at it here http://tibia.rookira.se/demona. Maybe add the function to the wiki header and then have a template or something to use it? As mentioned before my wiki skills are very basic.

→  « Alreth »  « Talk »  « Contributions »  ← 01:05, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

There's not an easy way to add javascript, but there are a few options.

First of all, that page you linked to can be easily accomplished without javascript, and simply using multiple articles and adding links between them.

To actually implement some javascript, one of the admins can add some site-wide script, but all events would need to be "attached" in script, since the wiki parser would strip out any attempts to add javascript on individual tags. Doable, but a little more complicated.

The last thing that comes to mind, is writing a custom MediaWiki extension (the <spoiler> thing is a custom extension that uses javascript). This is more advanced, but I think it could be great if we have a few developers that would be willing to spend the time writing up a "real" javascript map viewer. Once it gets going, then I'm sure there would be wider interest from other gaming communities as well.

Anyway, those are the options that come to mind at the moment.

bug on invisibility

Hey Whity,
I just got killed by 2 Vampires, apparently they can see Invisibility. Although they are listed wrong on that page. It's a dpl-list so I can't manually change it. Could you fix it? Kind Regards,

^^  º Bennie º  ¤ Talk ¤  º Credits º  ^^ 14:39, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

I fixed the list, and made it like a table. I had to remove the list of creatures not able to see invisible, since there isn't a real simple way to make that list without making the page take a LONG time to load. I'd spend some more time trying to figure it out, but I don't have time right now.

Unlocking hellgate library?

Is there any chance to have you (or some other admin) unlock the Hellgate Library page? a few edits need to be made (Talk:Hellgate Library), on top of that I don't think the whole discussion with the wrinkled beholder belongs on a libraries page, i.e Melchior has it's own page specifically for convos (Melchior/Transcripts), and the beholder language has it's own page too (469).. The page itself hadn't gone under that much vandalism considering what happened with Rashids page when people heard of him. so I can't see why unlocking would be of harm.
Sixorish ~~ Talk ~~ Contribs

I unprotected the page. Keep an eye on it, though. I don't remember exactly why it was protected in the beginning (probably just for vandalism), but if it becomes a vandalism target, it may need to be protected again.

I believe it was after the 469 dechipher thread on WoT was mentioned on Tibianews and someone had posted a link to this article in the thread. But I believe it was a very long time ago. :)
