regarding the infobox

I have seen and also worked along with your new adjustment of the infoboxes to automatically include the items category whilst checking the item class. I would like to know if what you have done works in both ways with the creatures, too. (As in, for example in a Fire Elemental page to display who are the elementals of Tibia and so on). If the infobox is edited to work that way, let me know, and I'll add the templates and remove the category links in the pages, the same way I did with the helmets, light sources, food and other stuff along with Pudd.

Edit: I have seen how the infobox works, it checks the class and tries to find the corresponding page in the templates pages.. perhaps we should edit it to include another parsing to the template Infobox_Creature, in a way we could add the race of the creature and thus adjust to the new template standard you have created.

-- Maverick the hunter 09:36, 1 April 2007 (PDT)

For creatures, it is more complicated than that. I'm still trying to figure out something good for creatures... I'm sure it will look a lot like the new lists for items, but I haven't figured out how it will work behind the scenes yet.

I guess it is already in Wiki as well, but Cip uses different name about some of the Traps (maybe Magicthrower) --Ville-v 00:35, 4 April 2007 (PDT)

That's interesting... is that maybe like "elemental forces"? Where the Magicthrower, Flame thrower, Lava Hole, Shredderthrower, etc. are all called "Magic Pillars"?

Haha. Anyway, I was browsing the kill stats, and magic pillar is separate from magicthrower, shredderthrower, etc... so it must be a new one... unless CIP changed the name of one of these others. I'll go ahead and add a new page for it.

--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 05:59, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

According to Ferumbras page, "Also there are 2 Magic Pillars at his room, which can summon up to 3 Demons each."

If this is true, anybody killed by Demons in Ferumbras' Room (when Ferumbras isn't there) would show in kill statistics as "killed by magic pillar".

Somebody should test it, by going there, killing normal spawn, and watching if more demons are being summoned (by pillars). --Ville-v 05:15, 9 April 2007 (PDT)

Items' Category Revision

Hello there. I've thought about doing a full revision on all items pages, to fix their categories (and their respective lists). I know it will be a huge job, but I'm up to it. I'll also take the chance for applying certain standards (like weight always with YY.X0 oz, etc).
However, I supposed you could be working with similar project, so I'm asking here first to avoid working uselessly on something that will change in a near future. So, let me know what are your plans and I'll be able, then, to know what exactly to work with ^^

··  ¤|¤ Master Player  Talk ¤|¤ ·· 15:40, 3 April 2007 (PDT)

I think that would be fine, to fix the "itemclass" for the items... it has been a while since that's been done across the board, and I don't have any "big plans" to change how that works.

Keep in mind, that items can only have one "itemclass", but they can belong to multiple categories. Clearly the "itemclass" should be the primary group that the item belongs to.

Good luck updating the items!

Also I think that we should remove all {{Items}} templates, so you could add it direct to the infobox, maybe me, master player and even maverick could do this in no time... since he'll start something we could do it altogether.. just tell me if the idea sounds good :)

I was adding the items template to the Infobox_Item template, and there is going to be an unforeseen side-effect... and spoiler tags and everything placed outside of the infobox template will be pushed to the bottom of the page. This makes any notes like this basically "hidden" on the bottom of the page. As I see it, we have two options (don't hate me, I'm only the messenger):

  1. re-add the items template to the bottom of every page (I don't like this idea very much)
  2. find every place that has any text placed outside the infobox template, and move it into the "notes" section of the infobox (better solution, but still lots of work)
  3. leave the items template off and pretend it doesn't exist (also seems like a poor solution, but would simplify the issue)

Is there any other ideas? What do you guys think?

-- Tibi gratias agimus quod nihil fumas
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 06:17, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

I had this on mind, a long time ago.. ;P In the start I added the spoiler inside notes and then moved out... well I think solution 2 is fair better and easier. Leaving pages without item template would be a "poor" way, spoilers, we have many but including items again is much harder.. I'll start moving spoilers to notes today, not now, but tonight

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 12:24, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

I don't like the idea of not leaving the items template, however we could try to work a roundabout on this issue. You could, for instance create something that would work a lot like the spoiler extension, but instead of being the spoiler, it's something that would show "Click here to show all the items classes". That way, it would work a lot better, by clicking in that button, it would extend the boxes with the items category, and beneath it, it would show the spoiler information. It's still weird, but better than leaving the pages without any kind of items template, and it could even be fixed alongside the spoiler information without making the page too messy.

It's your call, though.
-- Maverick the hunter ω talk ω contribs 12:27, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

There seems to be some limitation in the wiki software that will not allow the spoiler block to be used in a template... it has to be on the final page.... what that means is we cannot use the spoiler tags in the Infobox Item template... anything in the spoiler tags seems to be discarded.

I think the best solution is to move the spoilers and other things into the notes section of the infobox, but I am still open to more ideas.

-- Utinam barbari spatium proprium tuum invadant!
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 12:33, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

When the item has multiple attributes, they are added following way:

Attributes: attr1 attr2 attr3

Couldn't you add comma between them? Then it would look like

Attributes: attr1, attr2, attr3

It would be clearer that way. --Ville-v 05:08, 9 April 2007 (PDT)

First of all... I had not thought about items being included through the "Featured" item template... you are correct. It would be best to leave the "noinclude" tags around the spoilers.

Next... I will look at adding commas between attributes. Commas were not originally added because it would have involved more processing for some simple formatting, but I'll see if I can find a "good" way to do it that will not impact the server any more than necessary.

-- Stultus est sicut stultus facit
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 07:09, 9 April 2007 (PDT)

I have added the commas in between the attributes, but there are a couple places that the formatting is slightly wrong (extra comma where there should not be one). This appears to be related to the different ways that people type "yes" ("Yes", "yes", "Yes.", etc.), and the case-sensitive nature of the mediawiki parserfunctions. I will take another look at this later, but for now it is mostly correct.

About key list

I was adding missing list for the items infobox, and then on the keys I got a doubt:

Making a list of colors (cooper, silver, etc) or make a list like it's on the keys page, refering to their places... ?

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 21:19, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

Another option would be listing the keys in numerical order. Depending on how the list will look, numerical might be the cleanest approach. ~ Uno time

The other option would be to just have "Keys_List" be a full list of all keys... probably sorted numerically.

What do you think would be most useful? When looking at a key page, what makes the most sense for a list on the side?

-- Re vera, potas bene.
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 06:20, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

In my opinion as a player, I would first search for their color (example, I have a cooper key #xxxx I'll see cooper keys). BUT, sorting then numerical is somehow better, since every key, doesn't matter the color have your own number, the color is just some reference... but what do you think is better? Numerical or color? (I just discard the location sorting, it's completely useless)

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 12:28, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

I think the key list by numerical order is good u can follow the exampleof the fansite Tibiahispano in their section of keys    Asklan †  Talk †   12:44, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

That would be the easiest way to do it, but consider this.... there seems to be two main ways that people look for keys. First of all... they might have the key number, and want to know what the key is for... another common thing is that a person comes across a locked door, and wants to know which key fits it.

As far as I know, both of these scenarios are common, and I don't know which would be "best" to use on the key pages.

Maybe there's an alternative to the lists like we have on items pages? Any ideas?

-- Aio, quantitas magna frumentorum est.
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 12:49, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

Yes you can make the key list kinda the same as quest list to put a kinda page as in order of quests instead of looking in number order by place. (Slect by number or select by place)

   Asklan †  Talk †   12:55, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

Well, then we could add to the end of the list in small font a link "see also doors and their respectives keys" (or something similar) this link would the Keys page.. what do you think?

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 13:06, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

The present Keys page already is divided by area, so what do you mean by sorting it by doors? Once nice thing to do for each key, as it is still possible, is to provide a picture or link (tibia.pl?) to the corresponding location of the key's door. If this is done, should it be in a spoiler or not? I think that if a side list is made it should be by area (doors?) since the template already links to the Numerical List of Keys. I tend to have an idea of where most keys come from, but maybe others prefer to check by number..? Also could not two lists be added of location and numerical?

Creature Templates

As you may or may not have noticed, I have been trying to make the creature pages more identical to each other (though not as fast as I had hoped). I have a couple of proposals concerning the creature pages. First, I would like to propose the deletion of the sub-sub-templates (ie necromancers) as most of the creatures in these categorys can be shared among many creatures and just seems to make an uneccesary loop in finding creatures. Second, I like how the item lists turned out and I was wondering if that could be done with the creature sub templates (ie human-like, animals). I don't know much about coding so I would probably need someone else to create the template. If a list template was created for each sub category, that would also make the previous sub templates deletable. Thanks and I can't wait to hear from you. ~ Uno time

I agree. Yes, I am working on a way to add lists similar to the items list, but there are some issues I need to work out first (I want to do it right the first time).

Expect to see something in the next week or so. Until then, it's probably best to just leave the "sub-sub-templates" as they are.

I have an idea, maybe very simple and not creative, but it would copy somehow items infobox... Add a list of similar creatures to the right, and create a template similar to {{Items}} for creatures. It's not an original idea, but I think it's better than many sub sub sub templates..

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 12:33, 6 April 2007 (PDT)

One of the issues with creatures is that there is no "creaturetype" or "class" value, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to choose one for each creature (Maverick suggested this before). I am trying to figure out a "good" way to have multiple lists for any given creature, but the largest problem seems to be formatting and appearance... I'm having trouble getting something that is functional, looks good and is easy to read. I'm also in the middle of another project... but hopefully I'll get to this one soon.

I've moved mostly spoilers to notes field with some help from Maverick.

I've checked almost every item, but some items that that are obviously not used in quest, like most rubbish items and some other items I din't checked, so there's maybe one or another item needing spoiler move, but I'm sure 95%+ are OK. Also about the noinclude tags, I've added to some items, in the start I was not adding. I think it's necessary, as happened to Soft Boots, it appear on the main page and it's somehow strange, also for instruments, the notes field appear in the instruments list, so I added to all other edits noinclude tags to prevent anything like that. That was a hard work, but I think now there's nothing more to change to add items template on the infobox (if there's something else, this time I'll be surprised).

That's all for now

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 14:08, 8 April 2007 (PDT)

After doing that combo of edits, me and Pudd found out that there isn't a template for Quest Items to adequate with your latter infobox adjustment, and after we found it out, we figured it might of fall under the category of quest spoiling if we add it. This is because someone watching the Ice Pick page might see the item that is needed in a following mission, therefore we haven't done anything.

There are a lot of items that are still unsorted, but I'll keep finding them and fixing them out. If you need any major editing to adequate within your infobox adjustment please let us know. Although like Pudd had forementioned, it's hard to think anything else needed to be done.. <looks at sore fingers>

Okay... it's not a problem with the Items infobox... its a few of the changes you guys made to some of the items pages.

Everywhere you added a <p> to fix some formatting.... it either needs to be removed, or it needs to be closed. (see this edit and edit to see how I fixed these pages).

The wiki software sees the opening <p>, and it tries to "guess" where to put the closing </p>... this is what is causing this problem. You either need to use extra lines to manipulate the formatting, or you need to supply the closing </p> where it belongs.

-- Caesar si viveret, ad remum dareris.
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 07:19, 10 April 2007 (PDT)

If the P tags are causing these formattings problems, why not include them in the Spoiler template? Sounds like a lot of unnecessary work to add them all one by one...

Mathias (profile, talk) · Favelets · Formulas — 09:12, 10 April 2007 (PDT)

Nice idea, but not possible. The spoiler block is a MediaWiki extension, not a template.... and the opening <p> tags are on the individual item pages, so that's where they need to be fixed.

The "<p>" was added when Maverick and Pudd were moving spoilers into the notes section... they added the p tags to make it look better, but they didn't add the closing "</p>".

I'm not upset or anything, just letting you guys know what happened, and how it can be fixed.

I have seen that in a few shields page there seems to have something wrong with the infobox that is causing to an additional comma to be placed in the end of the defense line. Is Eva a male?

The description of the banker in Carlin, Eva, may contain an incorrect form ('He exchange...') and has bad grammar. OK, the grammar I could change, but about the sex I'm not sure.

I suppose, the NPC is female, as a male character in Carlin shouldn't be feasable...

Eva is a female. You are also correct that the phrase was improperly. I have fixed it.

Showing another page in my page

Hello :) i made my damage calculator on a sub-page as u told me on bug reports page ,But Can you tell me please if i can somehow show this sub-page in my main user page?

I added another comment on the bug reports page. It should provide you with another option if you want to put the damage calculator back on your main user page.

About Equips Set template

After yours last change (I'm not sure but I think it was after that), the template is not showing ring and belt images, even if you fill the info... Just look here to see by yourself. It works on the Template:Equips Set Basic, I don't know if I did something wrong or if it's the template

It should be fixed now. I accidentally left those two out when linking the Equips_Set_Basic template. Thanks for letting me know!

Warlock Mortimer

This guy has been editing the attack peaks on various creatures and they seem unproper. I have a feeling he's a vandal.

He has already been in an edit war with User:Kwigon the sharpshooter previously, but i do not think he is intentionally trying to cause problems. Frankly, without knowing the actual calculations for every monster's attacks i do not know how you could easily sum up every monsters max damage. There are too many factors, which do change with updates, to be sure. Art, i think as long as the numbers are close it should not be a big deal. If a troll's max damage is changed from 30 to 100, that looks like vandalim, not a GS's max from 270 to 300. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 18:15, 22 April 2007 (PDT)

From what I can tell, DM's observation is correct. It does not appear to be vandalism. If there are specific changes he has made that are questionable, please talk to him about it, or ask on the creature talk page. We should always check eachother's edits to make sure no "bad" information is being added to the wiki.

I have blocked Warlock Mortimer, but not because of the content of his edits.... he was warned to discuss his edits, and then he continued to engage in edit wars over minor things.

Art, I also placed a warning on your talk page for warring over the same edits. Wikipedia has a three-revert rule that seems appropriate for determining if you are in an edit war or not.

New Monster

countess sorrow

--Erig 01:06, 23 April 2007 (PDT)

woot prolly a lost soul boss ;) bcause of the name
--  Farscaper   Talk   -- 01:10, 23 April 2007 (PDT)

Most likely it is Nightmare's boss, because Bazir's Throneroom doesn't have any boss yet. --Ville-v 02:51, 23 April 2007 (PDT)

I added a new page for her. I'm just speculating here, but it sounds like a Priestess-looking boss to me.

Proposal for new category

Hey Whitelaces, Many items on the wiki aren't in a category, especially the loot from bosses (such as orshabaal's brain, countess sorrow frozen tear, imperor's trident). Most likely more of these items will come (possibly juggernaut boss). Mamny of these items are now valuables or creature products. So how about making a category "Boss trophies" or something like that?

It might be useful to have a list like that, but I also think they should be placed in categories by what type of item it is...

For example, the imperor's trident should probably be in the "Tools" category, with the pitchfork, rake, and other tools ... Orshabaal's brain should be in the "Creature Products" category, etc., etc.

No matter what different lists (or how many lists) an item is on, the "itemclass" should always be descriptive of the item's primary function in-game, or in real life if it has no known function in-game.

A page should be deleted

I think it isn't where it should be and I think that this page is just pointless. Could someone delete it? -EMbet 29 Apr 2007

DM has redirected it to the Creature Spells page, which is exactly how it should be.
