Tribal Mask in helmets list

I tried to add the Tribal Mask in the Helmet list you added today but something went wrong with the Template.

Maybe you can add it.

--Kaio 13:11, 10 January 2006 (CST)

  • No problem.... there needs to be a small change on the Tribal Mask page before it will work in the list. You can check the source of any of the pages I updated to see the difference. I will go ahead and add the tribal mask... thanks for noticing it!

NPCs

-Do you think if for Shopkeeper NPCs the item categories were divided up. For instance instead of saying someone sells say small, round, square and big table, say they sell [[tables]] that links to page with all sellable table, who sells them, their weight, etc. ... i was thinking about doing this for other things as well, but i've been busy. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 18:35, 10 January 2006 (CST) oh and still thinking about weapon types, since it doesnt make sense to refer to page with all of each type and select them, that'd be confusing... and sounds it too.

  • ------------

That sounds like it might work. Those furniture NPC buy/sell lists have been bothering me! I haven't come up with a better way to do them, though. Having a separate page for tables, pillows, etc. makes good sense! I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are describing, though. I'll work up a quick prototype in the TibiaWiki:Playground of what I think you are talking about, then we can figure out the best way to do this.

yea i had something like that in mind. i tried the playground with plants and it showed the whole of each plant page instead of the box form you made. i couldnt figure out how to make it follow format. and another issue is the item page have to be made first to add them to the list.
so its a long waiting list. complete the necessary npcs, correct items with sellers/buyers, then make these types of pages. but i think we should stick with your idea for it. --DM

  • ------------

Sounds good to me! I got the whole buy/sell list for the guy in Ank done, and I updated every page for the stuff that he sells (every page that existed, anyway), so you are right... it will be a gradual process, but I think it will be really helpful when it is done. Also, when we have it done, it will be really easy to update with changes.

The issue with the plants not showing up correctly is because the page for each one needs to be changed a little:

{{Infobox_Item |

needs to be changed to:

{{Infobox_Item<includeonly>/{{{1}}}</includeonly> |

Small change, but makes all the difference.

Good work, i saw you adding that to all the pages and was confused until i read this.

-Another note on NPCs: I still have not done the Green or Blue Djinn Quest, so i do not know all those djinn NPCs, which are still to be added. If you contiue to fix items pages, change any of the 64 with '''Nah'Bob''' to [[Nah'Bob]] I don't know why they weren't linked in the first place. I will try to do some myself as well. --User:DM

  • ------------

Yeah, I noticed that a while ago and have wondered about it ever since. I haven't changed those pages, since Nah'Bob is the name of a blue djinn npc. I'm in the process of doing the green djinn quest, and there is no green djinn with the name Nah'Bob. Actually, there are 2 or 3 green djinn npcs that look like they buy/sell items. One looks like it sells just magic items, one just appears to sell weapons, etc.

I can ask them about stuff. They might tell me what they buy/sell, but I don't think they will tell me prices until I finish the quest (which may be a while).

At any rate, I will try to get the green djinn npc names and what they buy/sell, instead of starting the pages with the wrong names.

On a side note, I think that whoever first put those on there was referencing the pricelist on tibianews. It mentions the name Nah'Bob, but not the names of the green djinns. This may be why the pages are like that now. Not a huge deal, but I'm sure we can get it straightened out.

Okay, I was able to talk to the green djnn npcs and get prices (they wouldn't sell me anything, though), so I have added pages for each of them and updated all of the pages for stuff they buy/sell. The only thing I didn't get was the price for the Scarab Shield. I apparently forgot to ask  :) I'll get it next time I'm there, or someone else can get it.

Since I have started the green djinn quest, I can't go upstairs in the blue djinn fortress to talk to those npcs. Is there anyone that can go and get those prices? Since the green djinn buys rods, I'm sure that the blue djinn buys wands. Also, that the djinns buy/sell scarab shield and strange talisman were missing from the wiki (even tibianews didn't have it), so there might be other things that the blue djinn buys/sells that aren't even listed here.

Whoops. I went back to the green djinns, but he doesn't sell scarab shields, only ancient shields. I'm not sure what I was reading when I thought that. Anyway, I fixed it. Green Djinn price lists are now complete. Just need someone to verify the blue djinn prices and npc names.

  • -------------

hm wow this is getting cluttered. I was going to mention it earlier, but forgot. What User:Red Un was doing to the extent of a central page, then your redirecting all to it with different and also similar NPCs. There are NPCs that don't fit a specific job, like the sorcerers, druids, etc. should all be converged into say Mage NPCs. This would apply to the guild leaders/spell sellers/magic shopowners/blessing sellers/necros? and some more.(yea i saw the explorer quest images, good job) --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 15:07, 23 January 2006 (CST)

  • -------------

Yeah, I think it would be best to have as few pages about the npc jobs as possible, especially when considering the "non-occupation" npcs. I think that it would be best to have the listed "job" on the NPC page be exactly (or really close to) what they tell you when you ask what their job is, and then have all those small differences redirect to a main page of similar-type npcs.

For example, Tothdral in Ankrahmun says he is an "Astrologer and Supreme Magus" or something like that... I think it should be exactly like that on his npc page, but the link "Astrologer and Supreme Magus NPCs" should redirect to "Sorcerer Guild Leader NPCs" or something like that, since his primary purpose is to teach spells to sorcerers.

I think that would be most useful, but if you have any other ideas, please let me know.

images

On another note i have not got to the Explorer Society Quest yet, and i was wondering what the botanists and butterfly collection kits looked like. I don't know where you get your images, but i was wondering if this is one of those items. If you are a member of mytibia you can check the library in the 'Other' section. Thanks. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 21:16, 16 January 2006 (CST)

  • ------------

Thanks! About the ES kits, I didn't see them on MyTibia anywhere... I will try to track down the images of them, but since I can't get them again, I will have to find someone else to get screens for me. I do not think that anyone would sell these, since they are only good for collecting the specific butterflies/plants for the quest, and each kit can ONLY collect the ONE butterfly/plant it is intended for. I will try to find images today and upload them if I can.  Salve! Crepidas meas per clavos ad solum adfixinte?

I still haven't been able to get a screenshot of the butterfly or botanist kits. I will keep looking, but if anyone else has them, don't wait for me... go ahead and upload them.

By the way, nice fish, DM!  Salve! Crepidas meas per clavos ad solum adfixinte?

ferryman npcs are captains now?

Hey, it's Cameri. I wanted to tell you that the redirect you made from ferryman npcs is wrong, the Ferryman are the 3 npcs with the little canoas in port hope, not all the boat captains.

Yeah, I just thought of that after I made the redirect. I was trying to decide if they were different enough to have their own page, since there are only three of them. I think that you are right, they are not the same as the other Ship Captain NPCs. Along those same lines, should Dalbrect and the other guys on the ice islands be listed as Ferryman NPCs or Ship Captain NPCs?

I haven't spent very much time in Port Hope. Thanks for updating those pages! I'll try not to rush into making those updates without having all of the info I need. You can go ahead and fix the Ferryman NPCs page, or I will later.

--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 11:07, 27 January 2006 (CST) --Cameri 19:11, 27 January 2006 (CST) No problem, I usually update everything I can when I have the time and dedication. On the other hand, I'd like to see a list where I can find where I can sell items, since the Shops contains Buy/Sell which makes it huge and not very legible.

Plus, I'll be very willing to add the plants around tiquanda and whole Tibia, if someone makes a template for it. :D We got a great variety now!

Cameri 14:03, 27 January 2006 (CST)

Sounds good, but I think for now that we shouldn't include things that can't be taken or moved. It doesn't seem very useful to just have a list of plants that we can't do anything with, or that have no real use in the game. Maybe there are some special cases, like the plants involved in the Explorer Society Quest, but I don't think they need their own template, just a screenshot or picture on the quest spoiler page would be best.

About the buy/sell list of items... it is in progress. Before it can be finished, we need to have complete buy/sell lists for all of the NPCs, and complete buy/sell lists for all of the items, too. Then we can play around in the TibiaWiki:Playground and see what will work best.

Currently (even though they are not all complete), you can get good buy/sell lists by looking at the NPC's page or the Item's page. I have highlighted all of the best "buyout" and "sellout" prices (except on pages where there are no differences in the prices), so these should be very useful for now.

A agree, the Shop page is hard to read, and it doesn't usually get updated when people update one of the item or npc pages. With the new Shopkeeper NPCs pages, this shop page doesn't seem to serve much purpose. It might be deleted sometime in the future if it is fully replaced by the other pages.

I do intend to improve the list, but i'm waiting for all information to be gathered and time. I will change the format though since it is very akward, and the code is worse to deal with. Probably a format like the redone NPCs page. --DM

I'm working on the Sell list, not the Buy/Sell one, since when you are looking where to sell stuff you wouldn't care how much you can buy one right? --Cameri 19:11, 27 January 2006 (CST)

About Wand of Vortex

I'm absolutely sure the range of the Wand of Vortex (for level 7+ sorcerers) is 3 sqm. You can attack squares that are not adjacent.

-- Liquen.

You are absolutely correct. I was working from the assumption that all of the wands and rods that cause Energy damage were limited to one adjacent squares. Thanks for catching that! I'll fix it right away!

Re: Critter Classes

Whitelaces,

-- Many thanks for the input. I'll go back through my edits and edit them... I'd much rather link to a Class page that gives all the general blurbishness about the species than just the list :)
