Mimics

Question answered on my talk page.

I didn't summon on test server, I summoned on real Tibia... What was it? 7.4?

Hey Dm

April 21, 2006

About those keys you were wondering about. 39** series keys were for guild halls, so most likely the large majorty of them were for the merc tower, or Red rose guild hall. But there used to be a flat + some odd buildings on fibula that made use of the same series of keys. The alpha keys were for areas when the game was in alpha, and were not flat keys. I don't have any concreate numbers on flat keys themselves but I know they were also in the 00** series of keys, 0013 was lady rebel's house key from when she owned a flat (to the best of her memory)

Shapeshifter

Hi there

About Shop page. I have no idea where the prices at Nah'Bob you took from. Some items are terrible mistake eg Cape, Doublet, Jacket, Golden Armor, Halberd - 9k/30k ?!

Umc

When i made the page that information was correct. yea i did make a mistake too, :P. The code for that page is very big and easy to mess up, soon i will update it, thanks. If anything else is incorrect you can edit it yourself or tell me the correct information to edit, since the code is rather confusing. I am still gathering all the info i can. thanks for pointing that out --DM

Furniture and other stuff

DM, in response to your idea (which was a good one!), I made a prototype of what I think you were talking about. Check it out at TibiaWiki:Playground/Containers. Since most of these items are not dropped by any creature (or we don't care if they are dropped by them), it has the list of sellers. I think this will help to reduce the clutter and ugly long lists on some of the npc pages. I also made one that has a buy AND sell list (TibiaWiki:Playground/BuySell List), which could be used for stuff you can sell back to npcs (not just buy from them).

Anyway, check it out and please make any suggestions... or if you have some other ideas.

I like your idea about teh buy sell list, but i'd like it more if it ONLY showed the BEST places to sell things, since, that's what everyone wants, right?

Cameri 22:21, 13 February 2006 (CST)

Well, it's true that the best places to buy/sell stuff is more desireable, but especially for free account players it is important to have all options. Not really an issue for furniture, but for everything else. Also, if you have the option to buy something for 10gp more in your hometown, or pay 150gp to travel and buy it, I would just stay where I was, instead of spending more money on the travelling.

I also like the lists. I'm sure that there are some problems that will come up once we start implementing them (especially for those furniture npcs, their lists are so long), but I'm sure that there is a good solution to this.

Moving pages

I know you know this, but you must have just forgot when you updated the Templar Scytheblade page. If a page is misspelled, the page should be moved instead of copying and pasting the content in the new page. It automatically creates the redirect for you, and the page history is moved with the content (it also moves the talk page if it exists). It's just a better way to do it.

--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 08:02, 13 February 2006 (CST)

Sorry i don't redirect things like that much and must have forgotten that or something. All my sources show its spelled 'scytheblade' but others thought it was spelled 'schyte,' i am just curious as to how they got that. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 10:02, 13 February 2006 (CST)

It was probably just a mistake when the page was created. There are still quite a few mistakes in the wiki. I come across them almost every day, and fix them when I can. Please don't think I am trying to discourage you from making updates!

TibiaWiki en Español

I finally decided to start a Wiki for Tibia in spanish. I've gathered some people to help and I've been in touch with the staff of Tibiamx.com.mx

I have almost everything set (in the technical part). Now I need resources of information. Of course that this Wiki will be the first resource for many aspects, as the info itself as the metainfo of the Wiki (templates and such).

So, the question for you, as admin here, is:

Do you think that would be possible to take some of the information containted in this Wiki to used in the new Wiki in spanish?

We'll make a lot of translations from the english articles and I'd be great if we could take some of the Templates and (of course) the images aswell.

I already left a message to Erig, to ask him for permission.

Editing of other People's Profile

Well I've received your message on the Editing others' profile thing. I'm sorry about that. I've only done that to allow my friend Rosie & Lethal'Hunter to understand and make use of the template efficiently.

Isle of the Mists

There are 2 pages - Isle of Mists and Island of the Mists. According to tibia.com maps, correct name is "Isle of the Mists". All information are on "Island~" so maybe it's possible to move/redirect "Island~" to "Isle~"? I'm not experienced enough with moving/redirecting pages :/

Rook Depot

i added some info to the Rook Depot page and you removed it. i want to know why. maybe i wasn't following the site's rules. if i did, I'm sorry. but i would like to know what i did wrong. if you look at tibia's main page, you'll see them mention it.

got it. sorry for the inconvenience..

@ vandalism on Lucera article

I dunno if you have noticed it already, but the Lucera page is being the target of continued vandalism, by more than one editor

I feel that someting should be done about it.. perhaps locking the page against edits, or removing the reference to the guild which might be the cause of the erraneous edits

hope you can do something about it. bear hugs,

What's the point of Depot (Object) and Mailbox (Object)? I don't think there's any moveable depot and mailboxes, I think it's useless to make double page about those objects...

about the pirates edit

The Lethal Lissy doesn't have 3 'L's (nor 'T')...
Ron the Ripper doesn't have 3 'R's .. nor do these names ahve any 3 leter repetitions

that's why I removed it
 Nagatho Goldenflag   Talk   Contributions   14 February 2007 - 01:01

Strictly speaking, The Lethal Lissy does have 3 L's, and Ron the Ripper does have 3 R's, even if they are not the first letters of the words.

Aside from this, it's a pretty insignificant piece of information, and does not have any large bearing upon the game or players.

More about the shops

I noticed some blaring discrepencys in your shop page, (spike sword cant be bought in venore for 85) as well as a total lack of fibula loot (hatchets, bows, xbows) please contact me if you're interested in my opinions on how a shop/loot page should be organized

I agree, modifying every weapon page and creating a template would be 1) lots of work and 2) not as useful as an all in one location for seeing where loot sells. So i recomend the following arrangement:

ItemSellTownNPC BuyNPCTown
Plate Armor 400 Venore Name here 1000 Kazordoon Name here

And people who desire to buy or sell for less/more then the best bargin, can do the extra research required. Enumerate

Ok i see where you are going with this. It has previously been debated to make the Shop page exclusively the best bargains. This detracts from the nature of a wiki to include all information but we can make another page and so have one be the all encompassing pages and another be the best bargain page. I am quite busy in (RL) presently so perhaps you can go ahead and make such a page. You could either make a shop extension page or another page. Possbile names: Shop/Bargain, Shop/Best_Buy, Shop/Best_Price... and i am not really sure of a good independent page name.
In a week or two i will try to get back to correcting the shop page or this new one. If i do not start in a week or two you can give me a reminder. I mix my priorities :P --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 17:58, 21 February 2007 (PST)

I suggest Shop/Best Prices, since shops sell and/or buy, Best Buy doesn't really apply and Bargain is just like Best Buy. Here's my two cents. --

Quick Question DM

Hello there DM. I was wondering if I could ask for your help with something. I was just reading the Elvenbane Quest, and you said that you have been there twice on the talk page. After i read about the quest I scrolled back up to the top to see that the level requirement for the quest is zero. This worries me, that a rookie player may think the quest is easy and try to do it at a low level.

So having gone twice yourself, what would you recomend the level requirement (or level recomend) be?

Thank you for your time and concern,

Regards,

Jake Command Wolf

I'll field this question.

The level requirement on the quests is the "hard requirement" for what level you can do a quest (usually determined by a Gate of Expertise). As for a "recommended level" for this particular quest... that is very subjective. If you can solo a Dragon in a small room, then you can probably do this quest without much of a problem.

-- Labra lege
--  Whitelaces †  Talk †  -- 07:17, 9 July 2007 (PDT)

Following up what Whitelaces said, the level requirement is just what is required, usually in the instance of a "gate of expertise" in which you cannot pass unless you are that level. Even if someone only reads the unspoiled section of a quest it names the creatures like Dragon and Elf Arcanist. A rookie player should know by the creatures if they can handle the quest, or read further in the guide if they have any question to their chances of survival. - The first time i did the quest i was level 16, i believe, and the only mage so i had to SD the Elf Arcanist. I knew what was there but only went because of the large team. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 19:36, 16 July 2007 (PDT)

Dear DM, I am Bennie and glad I became member of you, the administrator team.
As can be read here you, as an admin of a supported fansite, could represent TibiaWiki during private test servers. It would be very kind if you private messaged Erig (our boss) explaining who you are and telling your email address. Even if you don't want to use this opportunity, you could still message Erig so he knows that.
You have time until Christmas 2008, but the sooner the better!

Suggestion when creating templates

Not sure how you create templates (with alot of {{'s), but it helps if you use an editor with highlighting. I myself use Notepad++, works like a charm and shows where brackets or curly braces start AND end. If you don't see it start/end, you are missing some. Certainly helps when I create templates that use alot of them :)

Do you want help with it? I can understand if you wanna play around with it for, say educational purpose, so I'm asking before I do anything.. -- Sixorish 07:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

You might want to see this, every page which gets null/edited will be added to the category -- Sixorish 07:58, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'm off to bed, if you get tired of it there's a (I believe to be) 'working' copy here. it does it differently than you're trying to achieve though: Yours finds the parameter "rookOrMain" and if it's not found it'll 'output' (to the parser, not visible) "Rookgaard", the #if parser checks if it exists, and you're giving no false so there will never be a "Mainland Quest". using #switch can compare strings and make actions based on what it is (which is more efficient in this case, I don't even think your method can work)
You can read about parser functions at Meta -- Sixorish 08:31, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

FYI: the non breaking space (&nb sp;) was causing the categories page names to mess up (check out the URL differences between: Category:Rookgaard_Quests (no revisions so it's a dead link) and Category:Rookgaard Quests, which was why your DPL was giving no results. I think that has to do with the recent preprocessor upgrade, but there's an easy workaround so it's no big deal. -- Sixorish 08:43, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I actually moved the image and page. I think it is pretty new, came with the change to general "File" uploads. that sounds like a great idea, it would help people get acquainted with other houses easier than streets pages, hopefully making them more useful. I was considering adding links to each page connecting next-door houses, but that sounds better. just be careful if you are going to use dpl, make sure it caches pages to prevent unnecessary calls.
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 18:23, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
If I may add in, we shouldn't use too much DPL, this info would be very static (Cip never adds new houses or streets to existing towns) so using a dynamic list would be worse than manual static data. I'm assuming you wanted to use DPL like with the hunt template, if this is not true, please forgive me. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 18:26, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
That's why I'm adding an edit link at the end of the list and importing an external page - making it easier to maintain. I'll be using dpl to simple list (if even necessary) house names to add to the lists made.

DPL can't be used, as it stands: the template calls on most of the building pages do not support DPL. -- Sixorish 18:47, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

As I quickly discovered - they all require that |list function don't they. No true loss, manually making the lists won't be too much of a struggle.

Little help

User:Craggles/Transcripts and User:Craggles/Transcripts/Temple I've made a template that reacts to a specific height input by the user however I'd really like it to be automated. For that my height variable would have to be equal to the height of my div containing the text - is there anyway I can get wiki to read what the div height should be and turn it into a variable? This is possible with a script, possibly integrated with MediaWiki:Common.js. Possibly rewriting it building the transcripts into a table you could put each line in a row and instead of the height parameter have rowcount, but this is probably not what you are looking for. Another thing to do it have alternate text colours (light/dark blue) as they appear talking to an NPC in-game. This would also be easier with a table setup, or scripting - which is very limited on wikimedia. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 16:22, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I've never coded using java script and I couldn't think of any wiki way of making the alternating colours. Also the row count would be a good idea but again I have no idea when it comes to java

Managed to do the colour alternating but it's very very user-unfriendly.

i looked it over more and the only way i see to count the inner lines is with a script or some css - not very wiki compatible. I am assuming most people will not even add know to use it when adding transcripts and any who will use it can figure out to adjust the height, especially if it is clear on the template page. As well once you are ready start applying it on quest pages, etc. I can help if needed. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 21:43, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Wierd issue - for my alternating blues and purples I'm using nested replace functions one replaces the player: with a </ font /> the other with an end font. However This method makes the entire row italic for some reason and .dependant on which way I embed the replace function, removes the r from player and or the : aswell. Wierd. Any ideas? Also any ideas on how to change my switch function so instead of 3 = 3 images I can just automate it to infinity? Thanks for the help and ideas so far.

I could not find any way to provide an infinite amount of cases, but loops are a possibilty. I think that the switch is fine as is since most transcripts are not that long or could be split between "hi"s and "bye"s. Also i am not sure if the bold and italics are even needed anymore with the colours, since their purpose was to make transcripts easier to read. Lastly equal replace arguments need to also be considered: lower- or uppercase for player; <br>, <br/>, or <br />. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 02:16, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Appease the Mighty Quest/Spoiler - that's the sort of syntax we'll have to use. The main struggle is the break lines. Every "player:" line needs a break line and the npc lines cannot have them. Also all links need to be removed else they look awful.

See Arito's Task Quest/Spoiler for the easiest way I can think of doing it

Also do you know if theres any sort of search string and count the number of terms (defined) in that string ?

I will keep looking for a good script that will do want you need and be vague enough to be used beyond this template, to go into MediaWiki:Common.js. I changed Appease the Mighty to be more like Arito's Task. Also i think the way you added NPCs names on Arito's Task should be the standard: <br/>[[NPC name]]<br/>{{Infobox Trancript| ...
I had changed <font color="#9999FF"> to <style="color:#9999FF"> because font is considered deprecated and replaced by style. Unless it did not work, in general fonts should be replaced by styles (which cover lots of parameters: color, size, font, etc). The second br inside replace should have the closing backslash to meet web standards.

I'll be using that backslash on the br's and sadly style didn't work.

Oops, sad mistake on my part confused the span and style. I found a cool php script i can try modifying wit some js. I am busy rl, but will work on it intermittenly for a while. If someone else wants to try, go ahead. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 17:00, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I tried it with span aswell (which is what I thought you meant) but it didn't work either. Sorry to keep pestering you - but on User:Craggles I've made a template which can mock up a decent looking quest log. I'd like to make the text into wiki links without the wikilink format. Is it possible?

My original idea was very complicated and then i realized this is not that complicated at all. I have the js ready but i am not quite sure how to best implement it with the template (User:Craggles/Transcripts/Temple is also not displaying player right...). I enjoy this kind of work when i have the time and i am not sleep deprived. Looking at the quest log. Also you can download the testserver client now, not on yet though. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 13:21, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I fixed the my template, hadn't reverted it back from trying to use span. What does your java script do at the moment? I agree - problem solving is fun; implmeneting templates into the wiki won't be.

It is pretty basic: gets the total height of the div, the line-height (which is not there yet) and will return something that changes one of the div attributes like height. So if it calculates the div height is 200 and line-height will be set to 20 then do math in script and return height. I can change a value in the div, but problem is changing just the height in the switch, since it not an attribute.
Did some linking for the quest log. Not sure if i can put text over linked image and still use the link, thats why it is not aligned correctly.
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 15:57, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I do not think i can implement the script because it has to update the template height parameter but there is no way it can do that without being on the actual page - cannot happen in mediawiki. I think we will have to settle with the height parameter for now, sorry but i see no way to do it. I will keep looking at the quest log though.

house images test

Are you still planning on making house images on the test? I am, but it would be kinda stupid if we accidentally did the same. Besides, I haven't heard anything about the test yet from Erig, so I don't know if we are invited on it or not. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 13:58, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I am still planning on it. In response to my asking him Erig said he picked 5 admins who were active when he was asked for helpers. I think there were about 6 who were active so likely one of us will be there. If both than we can split the buildings. I am in southern islands right now so i can cover Liberty Bay, Port Hope, Ankrahmun, Darashia, maybe Yalahar, i can do more. Do you have specific ones you want to check? --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 15:58, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Ok, sweet I think the most active 5 are: Sixorish, Craggles, you, me and Hunter or Art. I think it is too optimistic to think we can make images over every building, I could maybe do one or 2 cities at the most. I would prefer Carlin, since it will be revamped. Maybe Svargrond and Edron as second options. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 16:19, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind helping out if needed

We can update each other on test and here. I will at least first cover LB and PH, i will take most pics first then upload all later. Mostly i was thinking to get buildings with more than 1 floor first since they cannot usually be seen on normal servers - when they are owned. If there is more time then get other houses while they are empty. We should make an extra effort for the updated cities.

Anyone is welcome to help, of course. This is what I found: greenshot. It's a little program which, if you set the preferences correct, makes a screenshot and automatically saves it to a file. With this I can just walk around and press ctrl + print like mad, and sort the images out later. Of course there are other programs doing the same thing, it's just time consuming to paste your screenshot every time in paint, save it before you can take the next one. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 19:40, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Will we be whitespacing all the grounds away from the walls - are we giffing different floors together?

I've given myself too many "jobs" than I have time for. But I don't mind helping out a little and I have some free time right now, so Ill start with a few houses up for auction in port hope. :) beejay 21:51, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I think showing a bit beyond the house is fine, it does not need to be clean cut against the side of the house (see Category:House_Images). I prefer seeing each house floor on its own than animated in one image. My personal rule is not to animate if there is more detail to be seen and the images are not naturally moving, like NPCs images are walking. Thanks for the help Beejay. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 01:29, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Most the houses were at the edge of my screen anyway, but I find it looks better than if I try to leave 1 sqm around the house. beejay 14:51, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Test

Hello, you should all now have access to Support Boards - Private Test
Board, which will contain instructions on how to get into the test server.

If you could let Dracinus Malev and Alreth know, it would be
appreciated. I don't have email addresses for them.
