About <a> tags

The wiki does not allow it, you use square brackets (no alternatives) which cannot have classes. A method you can use instead, is wrapping it in a span tag and using:

span.tibiatext a { ... }

-- Sixorish 23:33, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

I never realized it did not even allow html links, would be convenient in this case. Not quite sure if this is what you mean; either way it did not work but wikis are not quite designed for this type of thing. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 23:47, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

I meant... Tibia = normal link;
<span class="tibiatext">Tibia</span> = your desired link;
<span style="color:red;">Tibia</span> = "red text, blue link" - example of how styles are taken from the innermost to the outer -- only will an <a> be the other color if it is set by styles directly, because inheriting will only work if <a> is not set, and most browsers have set <a> to a blueish color. There's no <a> in the wikitext at all; the renders the <a> after it is parsed, and the CSS only takes effect when it reaches the client - which is after the wikitext is parsed.

On second thoughts, it's acting weird right now, because it works, just not on Wikia.
This should render greyish text, no blue or text decoration: Tibia. I'll save this page and hope it's a caching issue.

Edit: Okay, it seems the comment was the problem. (//** ... */ = "start line comment, end block comment." It should work now. -- Sixorish 01:33, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Not totaly true at cementery quarter, I have see death people from tormented ghost (I think that was the name) they get summon doing a quest in the church and they can be lured anywhere, people can summon like 100 if they want, also the nightmares and necros can shot people over the fences. Maybe adding a small warning, if you you afk theres a big chance some one can kill you with a couple of pushes.

house listing

Should we add non-player ownable houses to the lists? -- Sixorish 23:06, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

The idea is to include all significant buildings, i just forgot to add White Wave Cellar there. I figured either a building with an NPC or larger buildings deserve a page, but not smaller ones like a Mill. The NPC page itself can work in place of a building page (i.e. just mentioning the depot NPC not making a page for their whole depot), but that can change. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 23:52, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Second Fansite Soccer Cup - Invite

Hello DM!

Erig chose me to be the TibiaWiki's soccer team leader/captain.
I'm inviting you to join our team.

Requirements to participate:

 1. You need to have a character at level 10 on Calmera with access to Yalahar;
 2. You need to have free time between 17:00 to 20:00 CET on weekends (month not yet decided).

Regarding the #1: you have enough time to create a character on Calmera and level him/her up, and you'll get help to get access to Yalahar.

I was trying to upload a route to mino hell, with the maps, but was told i cannot upload pictures due to the fact that i am neither an autoconfirmed

How/what do you do to make it easier to add information to the shops page? If you do anything. I'm finding that the bigger the page gets, the more difficult it is to find the right place for information. I'd appreciate any advice you have for me. beejay 13:59, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

I edit it in Notepad++, but any RTF or HTML editor works. The rows are all on one line (scrollable) so it is easy to see and not crowded like when editing it on the wiki. It also helps to memorize the alphabetical order of the cities when added NPCs who buy/sell so you do not have to always scroll up or down, also the cells will not always line up when there are longer entries in cells (i.e. cell: || - / - ||).
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 15:53, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. I already have Notepad++ but I am quite unfamiliar with it so haven't used it much, but it is more helpful than Notepad, which was what I was using before. Is the next step for the shops page to add the amulets and rings? beejay 09:39, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

I use Notepad++ for many things, but its 'find' (ctrl+f) capability is much more helpful than notepad as it can do more advanced searches and replace text that is searched for. Any text editor (notepad, wordpad, word) can be used to edit the text and make it easier to see a whole row in Shops. Yes, adding any item that people normally buy/sell is good - i am not sure if there is a limit (e.g. rings, amulets, runes, equipment, etc.) One consideration is adding table of contents or pictures with the items names, but it is not necessary and may look messy or just added to the page width. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 16:38, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

I do prefer Notepad++ for long pieces of text, never known how to make it easier to see long lengths of text with other programs. I made the tables for amulets and necklaces and rings just incase but I haven't gotten around to checking if they are correct. I'm not quite sure what the wanted end result of the shops page is, whether it is to list everything that can be bought and sold in a shop or the most popular bought/sold items. I think images would mean adding to the width, and when the next city appears in an update, that will be the limit to the width of the page. Although as you previously said, people already have to scroll on lower resolution screens. beejay 18:29, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

I just wanna say Thank you for your work, it is great someone takes the time to help people find their way around Tibia and find the NPCs they are looking for. Will there be pages like this for Thais and other cities, too? Gosh what would I have given for such a "road map" of Svargrond when I went there the very first time, in search of NPC Robert, mislead by unclear wiki info about his location... Made me curse at my screen for about half an hour ^^

In general, I would like to encourage the wiki team to add more detailed maps of places. Yalahar and ofc Zao lands still show a lot of "white spots" when it comes to maps.

Keep up the good work! =]

About Tibiacz

Hello! I saw you take care of the deletion request, and i have 2 comments/questions:
1. 3 days ago, Bennie deleted Pltibia because do not longer exist (6:06, 2010 August 2 Bennie (Talk | contribs) deleted "PlTibia" ‎ (Unnecessary page: content was: '<noinclude>Site no longer exists.</noinclude> {{Infobox_Fansite|List={}|GetValue={} | name = plTibia | url = http://www.plTibia.com.pl | logo = | caption = |)), but with Tibiacz you didnt delete, you just add the deprecated warning. So i ask, why one article was deleted and the other (very similar) was retained?
2. I understand why pages like Draken Chestplate must be retained, but i would like to know why pages of rumours must be retained too? (lettuce, etc) there is nothing about those items (only the name).
thanks for reading me :) » Sez ~ Talk « 19:39, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

The first thing is just no communication between DM and me about this, I would have deleted it. Well, I agree with DM's decision though, there is a difference: the one was supported and the other one wasn't. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 20:19, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

For certain things we have rules and some things we just have to make a decision on and those vary with different people. As Bennie said a technical difference for the two fansites is that one was supported and the other was not, but i was not even aware Bennie has deleted the other one.
I left Lettuce, Starfruit, and Hydra Meat because on the test server forum they said they did not have time to finish them and they may still be implemented. They could be deleted and recreated, but they could equally stay as they are now until they are implemented. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 02:13, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

 Ψ Genosonic Ψ   Ψ  My Contributions Ψ   Ψ  Talk Ψ   22:10, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately there are quite a number of these problems (several other Objects pages too). The problem is the DPL software that creates the dynamic tables grabs all the information including spoilers and includes them when it makes the table. This has been discussed before if you care to search for it, but i do not recall any easy or simple solution except to remove DPL tables (but consider the reason to have DPL is that information is automatically added when a new item/object page is created).
I have been absent the last few months due to my workload, perhaps another admin can add something else useful. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 03:08, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

Interaction between NPCs and Item pages

Hey DM, how is it going? I just saw add items to Rock_In_A_Hard_Place and adding items with Template:Infobox_Item/Trades/Buy (and the Sell version). I kind of forgot what the goal was of this template, because I thought on all item pages, which you now added to this NPC page, this NPC would also appear as a vendor. So, for example, on Axe in the sell to list, Rock in a Hard Place would appear as NPC. The idea behind these templates is to save a lot of manual edits, isn't it? Can't we build a template which would be used on all item pages, which searches through all NPC pages to see if they sell or buy the item? If it's technically feasible I would say we should give it a try. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 10:34, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Bennie, welcome back!
I think that was a general goal, but it didn't quite get finished. I am not even sure where we had those conversations. Right now on each item page there are the npcprice and npcvalue attributes which appear with these buy/sell templates. Cip changed most trade values to be the same price for all NPCs with a few exceptions, so presently i think we have to still list the items on the NPC page in these templates and only change the values if they differ from the npcprice/npcvalue. Between Sixorish and Daniel Letalis i thought they were working out a solution to put the NPC name on the item page, but not sure if this was completed. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 14:05, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Development of it was more or less halted because I needed other admins to agree before implementing anything and all administrators were on breaks from editing here. The current template still works as usual and it is expected that it will conform to the current standards. So... nothing has changed much from since you left. -- Sixorish 14:51, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the explanation. If nothing has been decided yet, I suggest we can make a decision. As far as I can tell the template on the NPC pages works fine, but the Item pages still need a standardization and updating. Our options for that are:

 • keep it 'hard-coded', requires manual editing and maintance;
 • use a template similar to the one used on NPC pages (manual adding NPC name, automatic retrieval of city and buy/sell price);
 • a DPL table or other very automated system which searches all NPC pages and looks if its pagename is listed.

I don't know if the last option is feasible, did you test this Sixorish? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 15:56, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Why do we want to use DPL, it's too expensive for this application.

#2 sounds like it would cause us problems with transclude limits, this was initially planned but there are many weaknesses and I don't think DPL will support such changes.

I think the best option for now is to use a single template to list all prices. It requires that our community gets accustomed to editing a template instead of the item page to edit npcvalues, but it shouldn't require editing all that often. I'm working on a draft here: w:c:sixtest:Template:Price to Sell. I think eventually all our items data could better be stored on templates like this one: npcvalue, npcprice, itemclass, primarytype, secondarytype, etc.. -- Sixorish 16:47, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Okay I think I have finished with this. See w:c:sixtest:Yasir for an example of NPCs and w:c:sixtest:Crowbar for items. Current restrictions are: 100 NPCs (item pages), 300 items (NPC pages). I don't think there exist any pages that would go beyond these restrictions except for brown backpacks (every trade NPC), which we don't list the NPCs of anyway. I'd like some opinions on it before it goes live here because you guys have to deal with it in the end...

The template is much more efficient now because no item pages are being transcluded. Of course this comes at a cost:

The basic requirements are:

All these need constant updates: if one value changes, the template too needs adjustment. Thankfully we can create maintenance categories to find inconsistent npcvalues/npcprices/itemclasses.

The syntax for use on pages:

Items (sellto,buyfrom)

For example:

Rashid:5000;true, (this line: Rashid buys/sells for 5000gp with requirements set out as "Rashid" (default) in the notes template
Bezil;2, (this line: Bezil buys/sells for the npcvalue/npcprice with requirements set out as "Bezil.2" on the notes template
Nezil:54, (this line: Nezil buys/sells for 54gp, no requirements at all.

See some examples on the crowbar page linked above.

It was a problem in the early tests because the string functions have another restriction of 1000 characters. This is why notes cannot be put directly inside item articles - it very easily passed those 1000 characters. With a unique ID we can lower the characters to 1-5.

NPCs (buys,sells)
item1,value1

We can't use the same system as items here because of the same 1000 character restriction (items an NPC sells is much longer than NPCs that sell an item).

-- Sixorish 22:52, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Uh, one problem: Oasis does not have a CSS file it appears ... at least not one we can edit. The monobook version of those pages have more features than the Oasis one because of this... Maybe we can import it with JS but I hate having to rely on that ... -- Sixorish 23:34, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for you hard work Sixorish, it looks promising and today I again realized how hard it is needed. For example, Crowbar doesn't even list Marina, which does sell crowbars (I needed one to train).

I'll go ahead and make a project page with the necessary documentation so everybody can help to make the manual edits. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 11:56, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

haha yeah I know I did many reviews as I did save pages, but I'm editing many times because I play the game and I compile some information and I add to wiki part by part but relax I'm ok and I know how to handle the editings :P thanks for the tips -- Silverstein Obliviion 05:21, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

Abuse filter, filter 9

I'm pretty sure your change won't work ... check line 2:

count(" ",...)

And compare the variables added_links and added_lines and you'll see why it won't work. It'll block a ton of edits that aren't bad.

Also check the last line, length(links) will always return true.

If we are to block links which aren't hyperlinked, then we should do it in a new filter. I don't feel it's necessary though because I think people click these links only because it gives a convincing, accessible link. They can't spoof links with alternative text if they can't create hyperlinks. People should know the difference between adobe.com and adobeupdate.random.pl -- Sixorish 06:08, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Bigger Roads

Hey DM,

I just made the Thaian-Venorean Road page. Actually I want the street parameter to be filled for buildings in the "wilderness" (not a city). Part of those buildings are at a road, like this road. The other part.. Maybe we should add a street "Outlying", "Remote" or something to buildings which have no road connected to them?

What do you think? And what do you think about the name? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 13:41, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

That makes a lot of sense. New pages could be "Intercity Streets", to group streets like what you just made, and perhaps "Wilderness Streets" to group outliers.
Previously i just listed all NPCs/buildings that are not on the formal streets on the "Streets of city" page like on Streets of Thais. For Thais "Thaian-Fibula Road" could be made, but i am not sure if "Thaian-Greenshore Road" is necessary.
The outliers can be grouped on pages like "City/Area Wilderness Streets": Halls of the Adventurers on "Thaian Wilderness Streets" and maybe the Dark Cathedral on "Plains of Havoc Wilderness Streets".

All houses and guildhalls are part of a city so they need the city parameter but it could be optional for buildings not owned by players and just fill out the Location like you did. Those without a city could be listed on a page "Wilderness Buildings".

I saw your edit comment on Updates/7.3. So dara NPCs are all implemented at Updates/7.0? Can you help me make a list with the update when each client was introduced? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 09:20, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

I know the numbers just from looking at the Tibia news archive, but i do not mind helping. I remember that Darashia was around when i began playing and remember the Ankrahmun update later so i knew those were not from the same time.
Technically Darama and Darashia were added at an update that did not have a number in June 2002. The only two version numbers i can find before and after are 6.61 in February and 6.97 in August. The 6.9X updates were small fixes right before update 7.0 so i think it makes the most sense to say Darashia was from 7.0 and just add a note on that page explaining this.
For now i think you could update most Dara NPCs (not certain on all) to 7.0 except for Asima (i think 7.8), Guide Behil (8.2), Muhad (8.1), and Samir (7.8). --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 13:16, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, that's cool. I understand the Guides came later, Muhad came with the nomad quest, Samir with the Assassin Outfit quest. But why did Asima came later? Weren't there magic schopkeepers (for mana and life fluids, blank runes) even prior to runes getting sellable from NPCs? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 13:53, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

It would be helpful if you reviewed Towns#History, only thing I couldn't find fast is the implementation date of Carlin. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 17:11, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

I will look at the towns too.
Shalmar used to also buy/sell vials. I added the article on Asima and edited Shalmar about her on December 2005, around Updates/7.6, but i made a lot of pages that year. 7.6 somewhat makes sense as that is when the magic system was revised; i was originally thinking she was added in 7.8 with the new outfits, but still not certain. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 18:05, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Small advice ;)

Hello, I just want to ask for a small advice.

When I upload an image how can I classify it to certain images' category without the need of editing the file page later? I need to write (in my case) in Summary or what? Zantax (talk) 15:48, July 6, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you can write the category in the summary when uploading a file. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 17:02, July 7, 2013 (UTC)

If you go to your preferences, Editing tab "Starting an edit" there is a check box "Disable Category module (only applies if visual mode editing is disabled)" which if checked means you can only add categories by editing a page, and if it is not checked then at the bottom of a page in Category section you can click a button to "Add category". I prefer to edit it manually but you can test it and see what you like. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 01:11, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

Next go to the house page Thanah I d and edit it. On the line that says "image =" you will add a link to your image; it will look something like this:
| image =

You can also add the link first, Preview the page, and click on the red link to open the file upload page in a new window and tab.

For comparison look at the page Chameken II and image File:Chameken_II.png. You can edit them to see how the template works and you do not need to save the pages if you do not make any changes.

A few other recommendations:
When you upload the image you can add a category which helps group related pictures. For example pictures of houses get the category "House Images". On the upload page you can add "" in the Summary section or edit the image later and add it there.
In general screenshots from the game should be in a .jpg or .png file format. See more info at the Screenshot Guide or the Editing Guide.

Shield of Corruption

Thank you for fixing Shield of Corruption! It was bothering me that it didn't display the lvl required on the main shield page.'

Dabomb1711 (talk) 18:14, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

did you get the map files?

Yes i did get them, thank you. I will merge these tomorrow. There are still some gaps but i think there is enough that it is worth uploading sooner. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 04:27, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

Optional-pvp page bug

Kukironosuke (talk) 20:54, August 26, 2014 (UTC)

on the page http://tibia.wikia.com/wiki/Optional_PvP

Olympa seems to be bugged, i tried to edit it and fix it but the code seems to be exactly the same as all the other servers, idk how to fix it

When you see something like that, it means that the infobox on the server's page is broken. That's where lists like the Optional PvP one get their info from. I fixed it, thanks for noticing. -- Wouterboy (talk) 21:16, August 26, 2014 (UTC)

Rathleton Books

Aren't the following book pages double pages?

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 13:09, December 6, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Hunter; yes they are double pages. I first was editing Rathleton Library and added links to those books and when previewing those 3 showed with a template list box but they were still red links, whereas the other books were normal red links. I thought it was strange but it let me create the pages. While i had typed each link with " (Book)" the red link did not contain that. Strange, but resolved now. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 18:06, December 6, 2014 (UTC)

Dear, when some contest say

 • All entries must be submitted before January 8th, 2015, 00:00 CET.

That means that I have until "before January 8th, 2015. Untillll 00:00, that means that until 23:59, January 8th I can submite my entries.

But the worst was, I was uploading my entries in January 7th, and was missing about 4 hours until midnight.

Dear I really need your help because it is really unfair, If I was wrong I will just be sad and accept, but not in this case.

Spam part 12

It also blocks actions by admins... Could you fix this? Thanks. -- Wouterboy (talk) 22:18, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

Good point, I fixed it. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 07:55, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

Monster Arena

Hey DM, Was this edit an edit conflict? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 16:08, June 1, 2016 (UTC)

Hey Bennie, yes it was, sorry about that. I copied back in your change then linked in all 10 NPCs. As a side note we are missing at least the Kazordoon and Ankrahmun Monster Arenas in Mapper. I know we use the new source but i have not familiarized myself with it yet so if you or others have then something to check. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 16:36, June 1, 2016 (UTC)

No problem, thanks. We use the Tibiamaps data, I think Mathias is on it to complete it, his progress can be seen here. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 18:16, June 1, 2016 (UTC)

Infobox Streets

Hey DM, I have been busy with a project to make all infoboxes uniform again. Template:Infobox Streets is now the last one remaining which uses the "old" style. Currently I don't know a good way yet to transform the template without making it very ugly, but when I think of something I'll show a draft and ask for your feedback, as I don't want to screw up your hard work on the Streets project. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 11:01, August 3, 2016 (UTC)

Hey, yesterday and today I converted the template and created all missing street pages with some minimal info. There is still an error with the location of the street hover, because it uses an absolute positioning which is moved some pixels now. I also have the idea to update some of the map images which use old JPG images containing artefacts. Well, if you have any feedback please let me know. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 14:06, October 4, 2016 (UTC)

Dwarven Ring

I noticed you've changed attrib = hard drinking to resist = drunkeness +100%. The thing is, both parameters are displayed between parentheses after the actualname in the look message. But when we look at a dwarven ring that we're wearing, we get the text hard drinking, not protection drunkeness +100%. Moreover, a % value would only make sense to resistance/protection against hits, in my opinion. A creature (monster or player character) is either immune or susceptible to get drunk.

Hunter of Dragoes (Talk · Contribs · Admins) - 00:13, July 6, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for noting; I reverted it. I had checked an unequipped ring but not an equipped one so i will defer to the game. The term "hard drinking" in American-English does not mean that someone is resistant to drunkenness but rather that someone is a frequent or "heavy" drinker. I agree a creature is either drunk or not but considering the other rings' attributes/resistances i felt what i did made sense.
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 03:40, July 6, 2018 (UTC)

I think they've chosen "hard drinking" because you can drink as much as you want and you won't get drunk (as if you were a heavy drinker). Just wearing the ring doesn't make you a heavy drinker, although it allows you to be one. Furthermore, the ring is most useful against creature's spells that make you drunk. Because of this, I agree they haven't chosen the best words to describe the ring's effect.

Spanish Wiki Revival

Hi! I'm currently working to help Spanish Gaming wikis, and like you currently know, like this community the Spanish Tibia Wiki is one of the biggest. Unfortunately, it's currently abandoned, and although there are some people editing it doesn't have admins and a built community to going forward. I've also seen that you already helped that wiki in the past.

During these next days, my priority will be update its content and Design, plus adding some current features that the wiki didn't add in the past. Additionally, I'll be contacting its current users and readers in order to encourage them to edit and build a new community together.

As Fandom wikis are typically working together across languages (and Tibia wikis are an example for that), I'm contacting with all of the admins of this community that already helped the Spanish one to share that news. With your permission, I'm using some content and assets from your wiki to adapt them easily for the Spanish one. If someone of you don't agree with that, please feel free to mention and I'm building it from the scratch.

Besides that, all the help that I could receive from your community will be hugely welcome. For instance, I'm not sure if some of your current readers or editors also know and speak Spanish, and they just chose that wiki because is bigger and active. If you already know some of your editors that also speak Spanish, please report me in order to talk with them and also contribute with the Spanish wiki.

Thank you very much for your attention! --CuBaN VeRcEttI (Contacta) 11:46, June 10, 2019 (UTC)
