Thanks, thanks, I think I saw you on the test server, with Hunter of Dragoes (if I remember correct). About the block length, you saw that correct. Because we don't really have a policy about it, I just did it a bit random. I will discuss this with other admins, to make a standard. But if acount creation is blocked, then you are correct, no point in adding random expiry times. You 2, happy 2009 :)

Can't upload images anymore! =O

Hello, I've seen you and alot of your changes at this page and understands that you are in a very good position at this page so you might could be for some help... Fairly long time ago I created my own user:page and uploaded at picture of my char. And nothing seems to be unnormal but now when i try to upload it says something like I'm in wrong gruop :s. I don't understand if I have done anything wrong but I really don't think so. I was about to upload a new image for "dreamers challange quest" but it wont WORK! I would be very happy if you could answer me as soon as possible. Nofeer 15:10, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Nofeer,
I would be happy to help you but I don't really understand your problem. Could you tell me the name of the picture you wanted to upload, the extension (it might be corrupted if made with Paint) and could you copy&paste the exact error line which occurred to you when you tried to upload the image?

^^  º Bennie º  ¤ Talk ¤  º Admins º  ^^ 15:18, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Special:Upload gives the following error message: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups Sysops, staff, Janitors, Helpers, emailconfirmed, tester.

Thats the problem. :(

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 15:25, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah Temahk is right, I get the same message. Nofeer 15:31, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I asked about it at w:Forum:MediaWiki 1.13 upgrade‎, has anyone had this problem before the MediaWiki upgrade? Seems the implementation of the Special:ListGroupRights changed the rights. You can upload via URL, but not by the upload page (according to that page, anyway) -- Sixorish 15:49, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

This only points out how glad I am with adminship XD No, nofeer, we will do everything to fix this for you. In the meantime, upload your image first to a photoupload site like imageshack.us and then use the url to upload it on the wiki. (or post the url here so an admin can do that for you).

Well, since I don't really know how to make a picture apear with only a link I'll post the links here. Im sure you will find out a good way to use them. The first picture I wanted to use beacause when I came to that room I had no idea were the "solution" were. And the second picture i want to use instead of the picture already there. Beacause the picture being used at the moment does not show anything more than all the pillows so I think it would be better to show how it's supossed to like when done instead. Image number 1. img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=thesolutionds8.jpg
Image number 2. img375.imageshack.us/my.php?image=thepuzzlewhenitsdonejl3.jpg

Just tell me if there is anything wrong with the pictures and I'll upload them again. And by the way, thx for all and now let's hope you can fix this bug or whatever you prefer to call it. Nofeer 16:48, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

This issue should be fixed, anyone with an account of 4 days should be able to upload images. However, expect changes, apparently the "setting that checks for confirmed email addresses" was broken and not functioning properly. -- Sixorish 18:36, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

NPC Images (2)

By means of memory editing I have made several NPC screenshots, listed on Category:Images for replacement.

Whenever you're bored enough, please make them into proper NPC images. I'm far too lazy to remove all the "background" from them...

Several NPCs

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 15:45, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much! I'm glad with them. But I'm also hoping very much you do Angelina and the nargor pirates.. someday..

^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^

16:04, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Not 100% sure on the colors of Angelina..

Not sure if we should upload the "Ghostly Woman", as you cannot see the name without the use of cheats (or memory editing like I did).

To expand on this one: A Tainted Soul, A Tortured Soul, A Lost Soul and An Apparition would need new images too, then?

Not sure how the dead bureaucrats are named, but the page suggests this naming.

Several NPCs 2

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 16:32, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Wait a sec. You didn't took real screenshots but changed your char outfit into the one of them and changed the name (how?) This needs a little explanation before I can use them. And those tainted/tortured soul etc. don't have names I think (never seen them) they are just apparation, you can't acces them and see the names like those other apparations in ghostlands.

^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^

18:46, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Why do you think it's all the same background, lol. Basic memory editing, eg changing 136 (female citizen) to 103 (Efreet). It's pretty much like chameleon or creature illusion, but only visible to me. I don't gain an (unfair) advantage, other than not having to visit the NPCs.

If you don't wish to use the images for this reason, fine with me. I'll do them myself some time in the future, when I have time and am bored enough.

About the ghosties: they DO have names, but are never visible to the player unless you cheat. But since you added Ghostly Woman on your project page, I added the image. I don't think you can ever see her name unless you cheat..

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 19:17, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

I added the ghostly woman to my project page because I thought she WASN'T an apparition and you really could see her. I think npcs from which the names you can't see ingame without cheating shouldn't have their names in the image on this wiki.
It's ok with me to use those images, if you are 100% sure they are exactly the same as if you would take an in-game screenshot of the npc. I don't understand how you actually did it, what is memory editing? Some kind of chameleon function on a bot which allows you to transform into any creature OR npc with you having this visible only? That would be ok.

^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^

19:47, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Oh wait, Ghostly Woman CAN be seen indeed. The others cannot, and I agree with you about that.

Memory editing: I used[Cheat Engine 5.4 for this purpose. EVERYTHING you see in your client is stored in your computers memory (RAM), and you can most likely edit it with a program such as Cheat Engine. Most, if not all, bots use the memory to determine if they should heal or not, etc.

I have not used a bot to get those images, I only used Cheat Engine to change the memory. I can however write a bot which does exactly the same, but I have no real need for that. It does allow me to change into any creature or NPC, only visible to me, yes. I can change my name, my outfit, my outfit colors, my addons, the amount of light I give. Not only for me, but by means of memory editing I can make a scarab look like a giant spider, or change it's name to randommonsterabc etc (only for me).. Pretty useless, but sometimes fun to play around with.

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 06:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Ok, since anything is allowed to finish the npc images project and you don't gain any unfair advantages it's ok with me :) I will do the images today, later on. Thanks for your trouble and explanation. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 06:45, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I can write you a short tutorial on how to use it, if you wish. It's useful for cheating in other games too, like giving you 999 hp or ammunition (single player games).

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 07:14, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I visited the cheat engine site and looked around on that tutorial a bit. It is obviously not specificly designed for tibia, so the source needs to be edited for that. But before I use it I want to know how Cip looks against it, if you only use it to change your outfit for yourself visible. Do you know that? And is it hard to code? And if it is illegal should we really talk about it here? For example, I would never use a bot, simply because the tibia rules say it's not allowed, and I agree it is bad to have an unfair disadvantage. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 12:29, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

No need to change the source of the program itself. CIP says the following about memory editing (this is related to an experience counter, but changing your outfit uses almost the same method):

If the counter knows how much experience you need to the next level it does seem to be connected to the client at some point. To be on the safe side not using any unofficial software while playing Tibia is the only thing you can do.

With memory editing you can also make invisible creatures visible, make big trees disappear etc. This should not be discussed here, obviously. But I see no harm in changing my own outfit locally..

Help with template

Hello Bennie, I'm asking you cause I know you are really experienced here.. :P and well, I saw there was wikis on other langues than Eng. So I decided to go to the Swedish one and edit. Although the Templates don't work in there.. :/ do you know why and if there is anything to do which will make it work even on the Swedish site? Please answer as fast as possible. Kindest regards Nofeer 18:28, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

After checking http://sv.tibia.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special%3AAlla+sidor&from=&namespace=10 (Mall = Template, right?) it seems no templates are actually on the swedish wiki. You'll need to copy the english ones, or write them from scratch.

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 18:41, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes you are right, template means "mall" in swedish. Although it don't work to just copy the template for example a monster. Then it don't seem to work. And the thing you said about building from scracth. Isn't that really hard? thx for your help, I really appreciate it. Nofeer 18:51, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

The creature template is somewhat complicated, so I'll explain the NPC template to give you an idea.

When you visit Benjamin, and edit the page, you see:

{{Infobox_NPC<includeonly>/{{{1}}}</includeonly>|
..
|}}

What this means: It loads Template:Infobox_NPC (because of {{Infobox_NPC}}), with the parameters such as name, job and location.

The way the page will look is defined on Template:Infobox NPC, so every NPC page looks the same.

The <includeonly>/{{{1}}}</includeonly> part is needed to load the NPC as a featured NPC, to create a list of NPCs, etc.

To make the NPC Template work on the swedish wiki, you'll have to copy Template:Infobox NPC (from this wiki) to Mall:Infobox NPC (on swedish wiki). You can then just copy Benjamin onto the swedish wiki, just as it's used on here (the whole {{Infobox_NPC}} part). You can also copy other NPCs then.

The problem with the creature template is, it consists of multiple pages and is actually quite messy, if you ask me.

Creating templates from scratch can be hard if you're new to HTML and MediaWiki. However, you can find good HTML guides on the internet (use google) and the MediaWiki software is pretty well documented.

Going to bed now, I'll try to help you tomorrow if you have more questions

--Temahk (TalkContribs) 19:03, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

I'll try it out. Thx for the explanation now it's just up to me ;D well yes, just as you said I'm inexperienced with HTML. But I do really look forward to and wants to create this new wiki. So I'll just have to try .. Maybe I'll ask at your talk:page if more help is needed. Nofeer 19:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

I feel honoured Nofeer :) I just came back from work, but I saw Temahk already explained quite a bit to you. If you still have any questions feel free to ask them. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 19:41, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Well no more than pure fact, I'm impressed by your work, now I really understand how hard it can be! And well yeah, I would like to have some, if not help atleast an explanation. I have kind of figured out how this templates work BUT I still have some problems.

When I copy "{{Infobox_NPC| | name..." from Template:Infobox NPC and saves it at Mall:Infobox NPC (swe wiki) it show NOTHING. Why does it not show the hole table as it does at Template:Infobox NPC? I have tried to create a page that is supossed to load from my "mall" but then when I preview it simply just don't work.

Well maybe I'm just to bad to create this kind of things but I really enjoy it and the swedish wiki is almost empty so there's alot of work to do :D

I would be really happy if you know, and explain, why it does not work. If you think it's easier to e-mail me, send an e-mail to o.f.larsson@telia.com . Kindest regards Nofeer 20:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

You're transcluding the usage of the template .. Template:Infobox NPC is suppose to be where you have the table. I'll copy/paste it in the Swedish wiki, but it'll be English (you can edit it, of course) -- Sixorish 22:04, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

How to..

How do I take screen shots and make them a jpeg file type instead of the kind I'm using.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Ep1c Kn1gh7 (talkcontribs). Remember to sign your comments!

Easiest way: Make a screenshot using the key "Prt Sc" on your keyboard (next to F12). Open the program "Paint" (if you use windows you'll have this) or another alike program and press "ctrl + v" (or right mouse button and "Paste") then click (in paint or the other program) on "Save Image as" and save it with a name + .jpg extension, e.g. Epic Knight.jpg. Re: Alawar's Vault Map Images

Hello, I am here to reply this question you made on my talk page: "Hi! How did you manage to make the file size of those images twice as small, without losing quality? Did you use photoshop? What did you do? I'm just curious :) ^^"

I have used two programs. One of them was GIMP (http://www.gimp.org) to change the color mode of the image from "RGB" to "indexed",then it created an optimized color palette for the images. It considerably lowers its size because the indexed palette does not have the unused colors of the image, instead of the milions of colors that the RGB palette has, however it may damage the image quality if the image has way too much colors (which was not the case).

The other program I used was PNG Gauntlet (http://brh.numbera.com/software/pnggauntlet/). It reduces a PNG file size, without damaging the image quality, by removing unneeded chunks of the file. I used this program after editing the image with GIMP.

Regards

Magnus Hotblood 21:13, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for taking some time explaining it to me! I use the GIMP very often, but never knew the changement of color mode would make such a huge difference. But I think when I make .gif images it is always indexed by default, although this may be different with .png images. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 06:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

About the Eclipse part of the Inquisition Quest

Hello Bennie,

I noticed you post on the talk page of the inquisition quest about the Eclipse part and I was just wondering something. When your teleported to the area by Uzon (the magic carpet guy) do you get directly teleported into the spawn?

From what you posted I assume not but I just wanted to check. ^_^

Regards,

Jake

No, you get teleported on another carpet with the same guy (which takes you back afterwards). You walk ~12 squares to the south, and there is a ramp. You can easily stairhop to take the monsters out, which was my tactic also. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 14:53, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I know, I read it. But you had it in use for 30 minutes, and already hadn't made an edit for quite some time, probably because you were doing those three images. I think if you put this template something and say "I want to edit this page for 30 minutes on my own", you can't expect people after an hour of no edits to start editing it anyways. If you use this template please do your edits within the time, to give other contributors also the chance to make edits. Besides, for making images you don't need to use this template, in my opinion, only for really writing some text or putting up templates. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 15:47, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

As a courtesy, please do not edit this page while this message is displayed.

A courtesy is not must, anyone can edit the page whenever he wants when that template is in place. It's just polite to not make any edits..

Temahk 15:48, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I needed 18 minutes to add information of the third Update Teaser. Anyone can see that the fourth Update Teaser is the biggest and it is impossible to add its information in 30 minutes. I didn't read the text of the fourth Update Teaser before add the Inuse Template. Yes, I was creating Blood Skull, ‎Blood Goblet and ‎Dracoyle Statue pages when you edited Updates/8.4.
Temahk, I know that you hate me, you don't need to prove it always. I want just your respect.

<·> Hunter of Dragoes <·> My Talk <·> My Contributions <·> 16:24, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Ok, there would be NO problem at all (at least with me) when the next time you use the inuse template you calculate how much time you would need and add for example 1 hour instead of 30 minutes :) Don't get me wrong, I don't seek any fight with you at all, and I hope we can always discuss things in a civilized way. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 17:46, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Bennie you know how to fix Danae‎ page so it shows the books she wrotte? Or should the list be added manualy?
Kwigon the sharpshooter 17:59, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I remember having seen dpl used on pages for book authors, so I looked it up. If you look at e.g. Markwin, you can see Sixorish added the dpl functionality on March 2, 2008, be removed it on August 17, 2008. This probably means it used to work with dpl, but doesn't anymore. Conclusion: you can fix it by removing the dpl and adding the books manually. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 18:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

kk thx for the info will add it now.
Kwigon the sharpshooter 18:16, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I removed that for performance reasons, or more specifically on request of Wikia's, I didn't realize there was still pages using it (because the categories were already removed). the reason for stub was because there might be roleplay information hidden deep in the game's contents somewhere, not because their books were missing (but I guess the stub tag isn't necessary) -- Sixorish 18:53, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Ok, unfortunately the image is a bit dark. Where did you found it? In a bar in one of the quarters? ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 16:04, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

I've found it on the Magician Quarter. What name you think fits more? Ornamented?StradvariusTibiawiki.png T C 19:08, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Ornamented sounds ok to me, but I would rather wait a bit to see if more version can be found. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 06:58, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Loot statistics - New category

Since there have popped up loot statistics pages for some creatures I'd like to request a category for them. This should make it easier to reach them. Currently I'm planning to make about 110 of these. /Dottie 21:58, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

You can create categories yourself by putting this on a page:
[[Category:Loot Statistics]]
This will put them in Category:Loot Statistics (doesn't exist yet, but you can still put things in them). -- Sixorish 22:13, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Six's explanation is correct, nothing to add to it. Good luck making the pages and doing the research ;) ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 06:58, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Done, got banned from playing in rl. Kthbye /Dottie 10:32, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Undo/Rollback

Just so you know, undo will change a history back by one edit. Rollback reverts all consecutive edits from the most recent editor. So use rollback when someone vandalizes a page many times in a row. I think it can effect multiple editors if you select them in history as well. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 14:58, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, after a while I figured I could just go to the oldest "good" revision, select all with ctrl + A and copy/paste it in the vandalized page as a new edit, thus reverting all bad stuff. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 16:37, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Rashid Updated in my Sandbox

Hi Bennie, I've seen that (wisely enough) Rashid's page has been locked for general editing. Since I think it should be updated kinda soon, I decided to do it on my own page, so that perhaps you could check its all okay and copy+paste what I did and update it easily. http://tibia.wikia.com/wiki/User:Sayu_Nowan/Sandbox

Thanks :)

Sayu

The page was protected to prevent vandalism prior to the update (people like to scam people into buying things for more than they're worth...) It is now freely editable. -- Sixorish 21:37, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, Six took care of it and unprotected it (he always answers before I can on my talkpage :P). ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 22:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

NPC Images

Greetings Bennie.

Im starting to add some images that doesn't exict on wikia. For example im adding some NPC's at the moment. Ive read somewhere that all NPC's on wikia should be faced south. So question:
What do you do with the NPC's that never faces south, that always stands still and looking west, north or east?

Do I add them while facing in thier direction or is there some other way? What have been done earlier with these kinds of NPC's?

Hope your able to answer this.
Yours
kZ

There are some NPCs not being able to face south in Venore and Port Hope. At first their image not facing south was uploaded, later it was updated with an image which DID face south. To do that you have to bypass the normal way though, it's kinda hard to explain so if you just upload them not facing south and post their names here I can do it for you. Basicly you look closely at the outfit and colors of the NPC, and put this to your own char (which can face south). Then you copy/paste the name (which you can directly take from the image with the NPC not facing south). If the NPC looks like a creature you use creature illusion, otherwise you use the correct outfit + addons, if you don't have them you ask a higher lvl :) If you still have questions after this vague explanation please don't hesitate to ask them. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 20:21, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

NPC Drog added facing north. The rest I solved on my own.

Thanks. Knight zerox 00:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I will do him asap. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 09:19, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

There is an easier way to do it, if the NPC is facing east, you can use a software to rotate the image, then the NPC will be facing south.

I know, actually I use an easier way myself, but it is a bit troublesome to explain. Besides, I can't guarantee the safety of such software to others. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 15:14, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I was a bit sad when I saw that you (probably) deleted my image version.
I think when there is a lot of reverted and vandal versions, the first "good" version and the current reverted (to the good) version should stay / shouldn't be deleted.
You probably know that I didn't create that version, but I converted the jpg image to png, and I resized it to 135 px wide, then I would like to have its credits.

PS: I know that my image version was deleted 1 month ago, but I just see it today.

<·> Hunter of Dragoes <·> My Talk <·> My Contributions <·> 17:24, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I can't remember I did delete that image, but if it was unused it probably was. You want to have credit for converting someone else's work from .jpg to .png? Or you mean you want to be listed as the uploader? Anyway, if you are sad about it, you can easily revert the deletion or w/e you want, I can't help you with this right now because I have no clue what you're talking about, sorry. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 08:24, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

If you don't remember, the TibiaWiki logo was vandalized with this image twice, the user Beejay reverted to the good image (my image) three times, I deleted the first vandalism image and you deleted the other vandalism image, the first 2 reverted images and my good (and first good) image. Then, my name isn't there as uploader of the first good image anymore, this is the credit.
I thought you could understand my first message, since I told you about deleted versions of Image:Wiki.png and you can easily see they here.

<·> Hunter of Dragoes <·> My Talk <·> My Contributions <·> 15:14, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, now I understand. My reason to delete those images was just for housekeeping, only the last version was used and the older versions were only taking up space in some server for nothing. And there is still a bit credit, although your name is not stated, only "reverted to version of <date>". But I understand it now, thanks for explaining, and sorry for deleting the original one, I won't do that again. ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 15:27, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the block messages

Hi Bennie, this is Maverick the hunter. I don't believe you have been in here enough to remember my name. First things first. Congratulations in your promoting to sysop... I haven't been around enough but I believe you have done a good job to earn it.

Secondly, I just saw the block records and I have seen you have been imposing assorted expiry times for the blocks you have issued. Why don't you simply use an infinite length of expiry? His account creation is blocked anyway, there simply is no point in adding these random expiry times.

On a last note, happy 2009 to you and your family. -- Maverick the hunter 20:21, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

You 2, happy 2009 :) ^^ Bennie (talk ~ fellows) ^^ 15:58, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
