Nov 03 2000 - Tibia Version Beta 6.0 Is Here!

After the introduction of the newbie isle and numerous changes in the game rules during the last months, we are proud to present the next great update. This time, we did not only improve the game itself, but also moved our server to a new place and created a new look for our website (as you can see :-).

As our studies and with that our performance at the University of Passau is coming to an end, we had to look for a new home for our server. In Gamez.de we have found a strong partner who provides us with a powerful computer with fast access to the internet. In return we will put banner adverts on our website. This allows us to keep the game free of charge and adverts.

The new Tibia website has more content and a better structure. Here you will find the latest information about the game and the official forum of the Tibian community. Everyone who has a character in Tibia can post in our forum. Simply use your name and password from Tibia. In order to further improve the website, we want to ask everyone to submit tutorials, stories, hints, and pictures. We are looking forward to all contributions.

Although there are only a few technical innovations in the game, the update will drastically change the appearance of Tibia. Due to huge efforts and great support by many artists, we could finally replace many old graphics that are giving Tibia another piece of individuality. We hope that you will quickly grow fond of the new style.

At this point, we want to express our thanks to the artists that made this step possible. To Mantus for the many beautiful weapons and items of daily use as well as numerous spectacular monsters. To King Crimson for the realistic trees, bushes and stones. To Elleshar and Ralgar, who have untiringly worked out the list of missing objects. To Aureus for all objects of his upcoming area. Also to Knightmare, Conaria, Wastl, Lomaxx, Apoc, and many more. Thanks to all of you!

Besides that, there are some small changes with the client program: Another mechanism shall prevent multiple clients at one host. The names of ignored users may now also include the wildcards '*' (stands for arbitrarily many characters) and '?' (stands for exactly one character). For security reasons, the password will no longer be saved in the preferences; it will be displayed for the last time when you start the new client. The last improvement concerns the communication with the server: A new technique shall reduce the so called screen-bugs.

Have a lot of fun in Tibia! Your CIP Team

Nov 29 2000 - New Areas in Work

Many people have offered to create new areas for Tibia. Luckily there are already many in work and hopefully we can present some of them just before Christmas. For this reason, we do not need any new editors at the moment. Many thanks for your offers.

Here is a list of all planned areas: Ice Island made by Bullabü in the northwest of Carlin Ghostlands made by Falke in the west of Carlin Fields of Glory made by Lightbringer and Virgel in the north of Carlin Dwarven Mountain made by Knightmare in the middle of Tibia Hills made by Wastl and Conaria north of the Dwarven Mountain Orc Fortress made by Muesli in the northeast of Tibia Desert made by Ciryon and Lord Harry east of Mt. Sternum Swamp made by Aureus southeast of Dwarven Mountain Elven Town made by Knightmare and Taghor north of the Hills Criminal Camp made by Morridin and Phoenix east of the Plains of Havoc Maybe Guido can also manage to work on the areas around Thais and Fibula Let's hope the editors are busy and do not forget to thank them for their work!

Look forward to the great new areas! Your CIP Team

Update 6.1 (Christmas 2000) December 23, 2000

Included the introduction of the Platinum Coin, Kazordoon, an enlargement of Rookgaard, Orc Fort and other areas on the map, as well as poison creatures really poisoning players and bugfixes.

Dec 23 2000 - Christmas Update

CIP Productions proudly presents their Christmas gift to the Tibian community. Download the new client and enjoy an even larger and more diversified Tibia!

As you have stated in our poll, the biggest problem in Tibia was the small map with too few monsters. Therefore, we have created, with the great help of our map editors, six new areas: Enlargement of the Newbie Island (by Knightmare) Dwarves' Mountain, in the centre of Tibia (also by Knightmare) Swamps, southeast of Dwarves' Mountain (by Aureus) Desert, east of Mount Sternum (by Ciryon and Lord Harry) Hills, north of Dwarves' Mountain (by Wastl and Conaria) Orc Fortress, in the northeast of Tibia (by Muesli) In these areas, you will also find new and dangerous monsters. Additionally, the powers and behaviours of some of the old monsters have changed, so be careful!

There have been some minor changes according the gameplay. You can now use platinum coins to pay at the shops (1 platinum coin = 100 gold coins). Ladders will no longer disappear under heaps of rubbish, so this kind of trap is useless. Poisonous creatures (snakes, poison spiders, wasps, and scorpions) will really be poisonous. The effect of the poison will be stronger in the beginning and then fade away over time. Note that the priests in the temple of each town can heal you if you are poisoned.

As Christmas is a peaceful time, we have temporarily abolished player killing. This means that you cannot attack other players directly or with magic missiles. Understand that it is forbidden to kill other players in general until 1st January. Player killing will be punished with banishments. Also, it is no longer possible to push other players into magic fields or down a hole. Next year, we will have a poll about keeping this state or returning (partly) to the old one.

Go ahead now and log into the new Tibia. But remember that there is something more important now than such a game: Merry Christmas!

Enjoy the holidays! Your CIP Team

Jan 31 2001 - The Fight For Freedom

Congratulations Tibians,

Ferumbras and his minions are finally dead. Well done.

We will publish the best screenshots of the fight on our website. Please send the pictures to Durin. Send only jpeg picture format, maximum size 480x400 pixel, including a comment of the screenshot.

Rest in peace Ferumbras! Your CIP Team

Apr 11 2001 - New Areas

Here are some information about the current work on new areas in Tibia. We will present some of them in the next update in a few weeks. Hopefully you will like the results of our editors which make Tibia a more enjoyable world to play in. Many thanks for their effort. Elven Town Ab'Dendriel (Knightmare) You can visit the town in the northeast of Tibia. Rumors about a mystic isle may lead you to an adventure. Fields of Glory (Tekvorian) A great tale about a glorious battle is told about these fields northeast of Carlin. Be sure to find a thrilling dungeon beneath the surface. The Ghostlands (Falke) A spooky landscape can be explored to the west of Carlin. Some say that horrible creatures roam this area. Femor Hills (Wastl) Between the towns of the dwarves and the elves are some hills where many goblins try to rob travellers. You should clean up the area. Reokon's Tundra (Cohen the Barbarian) A nice place to hunt can be found in the northwest of Carlin. Young adventurers can also explore some caves. Ice Islands (Feanor) In the far northwest of Tibia are the cold Ice Islands. You can be sure to make there some hot experiences. Mad Mage Valley (Hammerfall) This valley lies in the west of the dwarven mountains. A strange tower raises into the sky. Orc Fortress Ulderek's Rock (Muesli) The hordes of the orcs have enlarged their fortress and further secrets may be revealed. The Snake Stone (Niehoff) The only attracting place on the plains south of Thais is a cave entrance. Maybe you can discover more at this spot. Green Claw Swamp (Aureus) The swamp near the center of Tibia is not only the home of some witches. Better stay away from this creepy area. Stone Wood (Alara) This is a dark wood near the land of the orcs. Some worrying things seem to happen there.

Several smaller changes will be done in some other areas.

Prepare for your next adventure! Your CIP Team

Jun 03 2001 - Countdown for the Update

The next update is coming! We are planning to launch it next weekend. Look forward to some fascinating new areas, e.g. an elfish town made out of trees, more mysteries in the great swamps of Tibia, and new challenges near Carlin. As a teaser we will present the new monsters one by one on our creatures page.

Be aware that the whole map will be reset for the update. Please store all your belongings in your depot or character inventory to make sure that nothing gets lost.

Stay tuned! Your CIP Team

Update 6.2 (Summer 2001) June 10, 2001

Included the new city of Ab'Dendriel and the Ice Islands, as well as the Fields of Glory.
Link to the Official Announcement

Jun 10 2001 - The Update Is Online!

As promised the update is online now - featuring many new areas, like Ab'Dendriel the town of the elves, the Ice Islands in the cold north of Tibia and the Fields of Glory. Additionally many things have changed in the known parts of the continent. So prepare yourself to find new mysteries and challenges everywhere!

Tibia has now four different home towns you can move to: Thais, Ab'Dendriel, Kazordoon and Carlin. Choose the city you like best to make it your home.

We also want to thank all editors and testers for their passion and time. Without you the update would have never been as good as it is!

Have fun in Tibia! your CIP Team

Jun 11 2001 - Some More Changes

The update has been successfully introduced. Keep on exploring the land - you will find that the update has more to offer in the long run than you see in the first hour of playing. Also check out the forum if you want to know more about the game rule modifications.

Today a bank started its business in Carlin next to the depot. Also Tezila in Kazordoon now exchanges platinum coins.

Jul 21 2001 - Account Update

From now on, you need an account to play Tibia. Create an account by accepting our licence agreement and entering a valid email address. You will get a secret account number which you should write down. Then you can download the new client and wait for the email where you will find the password for your account. Now login to your account. You can access the account page anywhere on the website by clicking on "My Account" on the left side of the screen. On the account page you can create new characters and assign characters you had before the update (note: there was no character wipe). Only characters assigned to an account may enter the game.

Furthermore you should note the following points: Each account may contain up to 10 characters. Assign all your characters to your account. CIP will not and gamemasters cannot move characters between accounts. Do not trade or borrow characters to other players. Also never accept or buy any characters or accounts. Create only one account because if you decide to use the upcoming Premium Accounts, you will have to pay per account. Note, that Tibia still can be played for free! There is only one password for the account and all characters in it. No one can see your account number and you must not tell it to anyone. Also understand that you cannot change your account number. A lost account number or password can be received via email but not both at once. For each account there can be only one character online at the same time. Finally there is a new manual page about the account system.

Have fun in Tibia!

Update 6.3 September 24, 2001

The introduction of the Criminal Record and the ability to complain about entries, increased abilities for Gamemasters, and the introduction of Counsellors.
Link to the Official Announcement

Sep 24 2001 - Tibia Version 6.3 Is Online

The latest Tibia version 6.3 is now online. The purpose of this update is to give the gamemasters more possibilities to help players and to improve the way to communicate with them. Please download the new client which also includes some smaller bugfixes. Here are the most important changes: From now on there is a "criminal record" for all players who are banished because of violating the Tibia Rules. In this way we will keep track of players that are constantly causing trouble. Note, that multiple entries in the criminal record may lead to an exclusion from the game. If you have violated the Tibia Rules, you can see your criminal record on your account page. Your criminal record will be cleared if you get no new entries for six months. The update introduces a formal way to complain about actions done by the gamemasters. Just click on the view button next to an entry in your criminal record. There you can write a complaint which will be automatically forwarded to the responsible gamemaster. Answers will be displayed on your account page. The system also gives you the chance to contact CIP. To support the gamemasters, there will be so-called "counsellors". They are appointed by the gamemasters and do investigations and report violations of the Tibia Rules. Additionally they will answer questions about the gameplay and help new players. You can ignore broadcasts by typing "#I #B" and yells by entering "#I #Y". Unignore them with "#U" accordingly. Enjoy the new version! Your CIP Team

Oct 16 2001 - Miscellaneous News

We are making fast progress on the Premium Account update and hope to introduce it within the next weeks. We will keep you informed on this website. Right now, we want to bring the following points to your attention: From now on the use of macros is forbidden in Tibia. Using tools to automatically do or repeat certain actions in Tibia is considered a violation of the Tibia Rules and may lead to temporarily or permanent banishments from the game. Please play the game as it is meant to be played: by yourself. Unfortunately, together with the introduction of the accounts last July a bug was brought into the game. A few players repeatedly misused it and did not report it to us. Therefore, we decided together with the gamemasters to set the according players back to the state of the introduction of the accounts. If you encounter any bugs or strange behaviour of the game, report it immediately to CIP. It does not matter what other players tell you. As long as you do not report it, you are risking that your characters are set back or even deleted. If you create a new character with a name which violates the Tibia Rules, your character will receive a so called "namelock". This means that your character is banished from the game until the character is renamed. Due to some technical problems the feature to rename characters cannot be implemented before November. Therefore, all characters with namelocks will stay banished until we implement a renaming feature on our website. When we introduce Premium Accounts, the complete Tibia map will be reset to a fresh state. All people who store objects somewhere on the map should move these objects to their depots. Only items in the depot will be safe. Note, that in future updates all items in rented houses (e.g. flats or guild houses) will be safe, too. We also want to remind everyone that transferring accounts between persons is not allowed. If you buy or accept an account from someone else, you might lose it at any time. So do not use any accounts you have not created yourself. Have fun in Tibia! Your CIP Team

Update 6.4 November 2, 2001

Premium Accounts are introduced, and the new island of Edron is settled. Houses can be owned by private players for the first time. The company CipSoft GmbH is founded.

Nov 02 2001 - Tibia Version 6.4 Is Online

The latest Tibia version 6.4 is now online. It represents the last but one step towards Premium Accounts and introduces all features that are available especially for players with Premium Accounts. A new island has been discovered far out in the east. Settlers from Thais have founded the colony Edron there, and the Royal Tibia Line has established a shipping route to and from it. Now this isle waits to be explored. Many thanks to Knightmare who has designed this area. Have you ever wanted to have a house of your own in Tibia? This dream can become true now. See the list of all houses that are currently existing and take part in the auction of your favourite house. In the manual you can find a detailed description on how the house system works. There are many new monsters and spells which we will be presented little by little during the next days.

Please note that it is not yet possible to get a Premium Account. If the system runs stable, we will activate the Premium Accounts next week. Also note, that you will have to download a new client version.

One more thing, we want to bring to your attention: We have founded a company, called CipSoft GmbH. However, these is just some legal stuff. For you, our players, nothing will change except our name.

Enjoy Tibia! Your CipSoft (CIP) Team

Nov 03 2001 - Update Teaser

Do you want to learn more about the new features? Then we recommend you Edron's Best Home Video, starring Taghor, Knightmare, and Lady Rebel Rimule, that shows some of the new features. Many thanks to the contributors.

By the way, the name servers for tibia.org and tibia.net are out of order, and therefore a lot of players have problems getting into the game. If you are affected, please change the IP address in the preferences dialog to "server.cipsoft.com" or "62.146.4.10". Sorry for the inconvenience!

See you in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Nov 05 2001 - Premium Accounts Available

Premium Accounts are now available! You can upgrade your free account to a Premium Account at any time. Just log into your account page and click on "Get Premium Account". There you will also get more information about Premium Accounts and all supported payment methods.

A Premium Account enables you to rent houses, to visit the new island Edron, to buy new spells, and to fight never seen creatures. Furthermore you can expect many new benefits for Premium Account players in the future. Nevertheless, everyone can continue to play Tibia with all old features for free.

Enjoy the new Premium Accounts! Your CipSoft Team

Nov 06 2001 - Thank You!

Thanks a lot for your trust in us and the future of Tibia! Many players already bought a Premium Account and the number is still growing. You can be sure that we will work hard to make this game better and better.

Note, that only payments made by credit cards take place immediately. For this reasons, many players cannot use the premium features until the payment arrives. Just wait a few days. For more information on Premium Accounts also check the FAQ.

The very first Premium Account player was Flattery. He will get a present today. Just meet the assembly in the throne chamber in the castle of Edron at 20:00 CET.

Thank you for your support! The CipSoft Team

Nov 20 2001 - Minor Changes in Tibia

Today we added four new guildhalls that belong to Carlin and Kazordoon. Along with the server save, we did some minor changes and bugfixes (e.g. you cannot put items on beds any longer). The demon overlord has decided to sent stronger demons to Tibia because too many of its minor minions have been killed in the last days.

A second server will go online soon! One will be for the website and the other one only for the game. This will reduce lag and we can raise the player limit. You are also invited to discuss about a second game world of Tibia at the proposal board.

Have fun in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Dec 10 2001 - About the Next Update and Houses

Before Christmas, there will be a small update in Tibia. We will present some new areas, monsters, and great items. This will include two villages with some houses to rent for Premium Account players. Note that we will not add more houses in the current settlements. If all houses are rented, you have to wait until somebody moves out to bid on a free one. Currently we are also working on the second game world.

Enjoy Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Dec 13 2001 - Another Great Year...

Another great year is coming to an end.

During this year the four of us finished our studies at university and established CipSoft. With the foundation of our company we also decided to dedicate our future to Tibia. Finally we have the time to realise all plans we have for our small world. The first step has already been done with the introduction of Premium Accounts. With your support we can assure that Tibia stays online and will even be improved.

The week before Christmas we will do another step forward by introducing a second game server. This way we double the number of players that can be online at the same time. But more importantly, you have the chance to start a new career in a fresh world. Additionally we created the basis for the establishment of more game servers in case the current capacity runs short.

There are also many reasons to look forward to the next year. Already in January we will implement new features for all Premium Account players. In 2002 it is also high time for a new client with many long anticipated extras like chat channels or the safe trade dialog. So stay tuned!

We want to thank all players for their support and trust in us. You are the ones who keep Tibia alive and make it a real world. And hey, in case your parents or friends are still looking for the right Christmas present for you, tell them about the Tibia Premium Accounts. ;) Anyway, we wish you a

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Your CipSoft Team

Update 6.5 (Christmas 2001) December 19, 2001

Client version which supports multiple game worlds.
Link to the Official Announcement

Dec 19 2001 - A New World Is Born!

From now on there are two game worlds: Antica and Nova. Both game worlds look exactly the same, have the same game rules and are open for free and premium players. When you create a new character you can decide in which world your character should live. However, you cannot travel or transfer items between these game worlds. While Antica is the old server where your current characters live, Nova is a new world where everybody has to start a fresh career. To play there you have to create a new character. Note that even though Nova has the same capacity as Antica, we have temporarily restricted Nova's player limit to prevent an overcrowded Rookgaard.

All players have to download the new client version which supports multiple game worlds. Also note that broadcasts are not displayed in the adventure screen any longer. In case you have trouble logging into the game during the next days, please enter 62.146.69.29 into the IP-address field in the preferences dialog of the client. Finally, from now on you have to enter your account number and your password to log into the game.

Check out the Ice Islands and the Fields of Glory for new secrets. Furthermore, a new settlement with more houses for all Premium Account players has been founded on a small island next to Edron.

Jan 07 2002 - Happy Birthday Tibia!

On January 7th, 1997 Tibia went online for the first time. This means today is Tibia's 5th birthday! To mark our anniversary we want to give a special present to all players who sign up for a 7-months Premium Account or extend their Premium Accounts by 7 months. They will receive the so-called shield of honor. This is a limited time offer. The payment must arrive until January 31st.

Furthermore we want to announce that a few weeks from now we will introduce new Premium Account features. These include in-game support for guilds and the possibility for experienced characters to refine their vocations to achieve new titles as well as new spells. Stay tuned!

Finally we want to remind everyone that character transfers between accounts are only possible until January 15th.

Feb 10 2002 - New Update

In a few days we will present a new update for Tibia. It includes a guild system and improvements for all Premium Account players like new spells or a vocation promotion. The guild system offers ranks and titles for all members, the rent of guildhalls, a guild channel, and a short presentation at our website. Of course each guild needs some Premium Account players to be founded. For more details watch the news.

Update 6.6 February 18, 2002

Guilds become officially supported in Tibia, and Premium players can now get a Vocation promotion for their characters. New spells are added.

Feb 18 2002 - Tibia Version 6.6 Is Online!

We proudly present the latest Tibia version 6.6 with a lot of new features, especially for Premium Account players. But the new release also includes many bugfixes and minor additions for all players. Please download the new client from our homepage.

Since the very early days of Tibia, players united in guilds. Guild members share the same spirit, protect each other, and build a community of their own. From now on guilds will be officially supported by the game. In the community section of our website you will find a list of all guilds. There you can found a new guild and invite players to join it. Every player can see your position in the guild you belong to. Additionally all guild members of a guild can communicate over a special channel. Finally guild houses can only be rented by official guilds. Note that if you currently own a guild house, you have one month from now to officially found your guild, in order to keep the house. Please take a look at the manual for more information about guilds.

Another addition of the update is the introduction of promoted vocations. Become an Elite Knight, a Royal Paladin, an Elder Druid, or a Master Sorcerer. King Tibianus and Queen Eloise grant this promotion to all Premium Account players at or above level 20. As effect your regeneration improves, your loss when dying is reduced, and you may learn one special spell. But there are also new spells for Premium Account players without promotion.

As evolution goes on, the monsters have adapted to the constant threat from humans. So please be careful, even when attacking well known creatures. However also the Tibians have not been idle. They invented a new technique for hunting traps. You can buy them from Beatrice in Edron.

Finally we want to announce that there are several new gamemasters who will look after Tibia. Please refer to our community section for an always up-to-date list of all gamemasters. Our thanks go to them and all testers who helped us during the last week to improve the quality of the update.

Have fun in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Jul 22 2002 - Testing Phase for the New Client

Are you keen about the new client? Today we are starting a public testing phase, so that all of you can get some impressions of the redesigned layout, the revised graphics library, and new features like the chat system with different channels, the safe trade dialog, the VIP list, and the installation program. Have a look at the manual for more information about the new controls and where to obtain the new client.

This testing phase is intended to give you a first impression of the new client and for us to get some feedback on how you find the new look and feel and whether you have any difficulties to install or run the program. Please use only the threads we have started on the proposal board for feedback. We will read your replies there carefully, but we might miss something you post elsewhere.

For the test server we have taken a copy of the game world Antica last Friday. Therefore only players from Antica can take part in the test. Also, it is not possible to create new players. The map has been limited to Rookgaard and the surroundings of Thais. All inventories and depots have been deleted in order to avoid excessive rune shootings in the towns. Instead we ask you to play seriously, to use the new features just like you would use them in the regular game and not to disturb other players while they are testing something. The Tibia rules are also applicable for the test server. If you are violating them, you will be excluded from the test and also from the regular game.

This testing phase will last until after next weekend. Afterwards, we will implement the still missing features (e.g., online help and automated client updates) and process your feedback. After another testing phase we will switch the regular worlds to the new client. We hope to do this by the end of August. Finally, we want to express our thanks to Mantus and Lord Ariakas, who have re-drawn and animated dozens of creatures. Mantus even provided us with a new title screen. Moreover we say thanks to our gamemasters and counsellors for testing the new client and discussing the new features.

Happy testing! The CipSoft Team

Aug 21 2002 - Final Sprint Towards the New Client

We have nearly finished the new client. Therefore we are starting a second public testing phase in order to find the remaining bugs. If everything runs fine, we intend to switch the regular worlds to the new client next week. Please use only the according thread we have started on the proposal board for feedback.

Since the first public testing phase, we have worked on the following topics: - Auto Update: In the future, you will never have to download an update for Tibia again. We have implemented an automatic update mechanism which will get the current version from the server whenever you log in. We will test this feature by offering new versions during the test. - Online Help: For our players there are now four ways of getting help: online-help for the client, hints, counsellor requests, and the website. All of them are accessible via a help menu. If you select the first one, your mouse-pointer will turn into a magnifying glass and you will get help for the part of the interface you put your mouse-pointer on. Hints will be given whenever something special happens, e.g., logging in for the first time, killing your first monster, etc. A flashing exclamation mark will indicate new hints, but you can always get back to old hints via the help menu. Counsellor requests have already been introduced in the previous test but are now accessible via this menu. The last two buttons in the menu are links to the website. The information there is not yet up-to-date, but we will update it during the testing phase. Also the links from the help buttons in some dialogs will point to detailed help later. - Old Client: The server now supports the new and the old client (to be exact the new version 6.97 of the old client) at the same time. Of course, the old client does not support most of the new features but you should still be able to play. The characters look all the same and broadcast is abolished, but the old client automatically joins the guild channel (if possible) and the chat channel which are accessible using #M resp. #C. Also have a look at the manual for more information about the controls and where to obtain the new client.

For the test server we have taken a copy of the world Antica last Monday. Therefore only players on Antica can take part in the test. It is not possible to create new players. The map has been limited to Rookgaard and the surroundings of Thais. Thais has been turned into a protection zone in order to avoid excessive rune shootings in town. Instead we ask you to play seriously, to use the new features just like you would use them in the regular game, and not to disturb other players while they are testing something. The Tibia Rules are also applicable for the test server. If you are violating against them, you will be excluded from the test and also from the regular game.

Happy testing! The CipSoft Team

Auto Update Test Today we are performing a test of the auto update function of the new client. When you log in next time, you should automatically receive a patch which turns your client into version 6.98. This new version should also fix some bugs you have detected during the testing phase so far.

If the auto update does not work, please download the complete package again from the website and report your problems in the according thread on the proposal board.

See you in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Update 7.0 (Summer 2002) August 28, 2002

Updates include new graphics, the introduction of the VIP List, the introduction of the Safe Trade feature, and the introduction of the Chat Channels like Game-Chat, Trade-Channel.
Link to the Official Announcement

Aug 28 2002 - Update to Version 7.0

We proudly present the new Tibia client, version 7.0, which provides a redesigned layout, a revised graphics library, and several new features like a chat system with different channels, a safe trade system, a VIP list, and an installation program. After a long public testing phase, in which hundreds of players helped us detecting bugs and refining the new features, we are now switching the regular worlds to the new client.

Please download the new client from the website. Have a look at the revised manual for more information about the new controls. If you have any problems with the installation or with the new client, see the FAQ for help. Furthermore if you cannot get the new client to run on your system, you can also get the new version of the old client from the download section. However, note that the old client does not contain all new features and that we do not ensure support of the old client beyond April 30th, 2003.

Finally, we want to express our thanks to Mantus and Lord Ariakas, who have re-drawn and animated dozens of creatures; Mantus even provided us with a wonderful new title picture. Moreover, we say thank you to our gamemasters and counsellors for testing the new client and discussing the new features.

Have much fun with the new Tibia client! The CipSoft Team

Oct 09 2002 - Several Small Changes for Amera

Amera is now accessible for free account players. Tomorrow we will rise the player limit a bit, so more players can join in. There are three boards at our forum related to this new game world.

You can create now up to 15 characters in your account to be able to have some for each game world if you like. New characters cannot have special letters like 'ä', 'ö', 'ü', or 'ß' in their names anymore.

We solved the login problems several players (e.g. AOL users) had at their account page or at the forum. Note that a login at our website is valid until you close your browser, logout, or haven't accessed a new account or forum page for 45 minutes.

Update 7.01 October 22, 2002

The Logout Block is extended and mages may no longer Summon more than two monsters, which will disappear if the mage logs off or dies. A feature is added so you can ignore private messages and yells.
Link to the Official Announcement

Oct 22 2002 - Minor Update to Version 7.01

One month and a half after the release of the new client, we are going to perform a minor update with several bugfixes and some minor add-ons.

Talking: Spells will now always go to the default channel and thus be effective in the game. You can ignore yells and private messages by checking the corresponding boxes in the ignore dialog. You can start a conversation more quickly by double-clicking on the VIP list. And for our Swedish, Spanish, or French players: The client now supports the complete ISO-8859-1 font with all special characters contained in these languages.

Combat-System: The logout block is prolonged for attacker and defender after every strike or shot, no matter if it hits. Players cannot summon or convince more than two monsters which will vanish when their master logs out or dies. Animate Dead or Undead Legion, however, always works.

User Interface: During the login process, you will receive some information about the state of the connection. There are no snapbacks any more when you are walking using the cursor keys. In the advanced graphics options you can confine the framerate and thus the processor usage. The buttons for the combat tactics are coloured. And the scrollbars will move repeatedly when you keep the arrows pressed.

You don't have to download a new client version. Instead your client will be updated automatically when you login next time. However, if the update process does not work correctly for you, you can download the complete version 7.01 from the download section. If you are using the "old client", no update is necessary.

Nov 04 2002 - Non-PvP Game World Secura

Today we have launched a new game world - Secura which is a "Non-PvP world". This means that all actions by which a player can harm another player will be prevented by the server: Fighting: Selecting peaceful creatures, i.e., players and summoned or convinced creatures, for attacking is not possible. Magic: It is not possible to shoot aggressive runes at peaceful creatures. Moreover, explosions caused by peaceful creatures will not harm other peaceful creatures. Fields: Peaceful creatures will create a special kind of magic fields which do not harm peaceful creatures and vanish rather quickly. Bear Traps: They do not harm peaceful creatures. Note that the Tibia Rules apply to all worlds - PvP and Non-PVP. Violations will be punished accordingly!

Like last time, we have limited the world to 200 premium players in order to avoid an overcrowded Rookgaard. With players leaving towards the continent, we will increase this limit step by step and also admit players with free accounts during the next days.

There have been some more changes which affect both types of worlds: NPCs: As you might know, some NPCs can heal wounded players. From now on they can help you even if they are talking with someone else. Just address them with "heal". Furthermore there are now waiting queues for most NPCs. If you say "hello" while an NPCs is talking, you will be queued and can talk to the NPC as soon he/she is ready. Moreover, there are timeouts. If the dialog partner of an NPC doesn't say anything for 30 seconds, the NPC will end the conversation. Protection Zone Block: Players are not allowed to enter a protection zone for 60 seconds after any kind of aggressive action, i.e., attacking other players, shooting runes, or casting aggressive spells. Have much fun! The CipSoft Team

Nov 09 2002 - News About the Game Worlds and the Last Update

The new Non-PvP game world Secura is already open for all accounts since a few days. The current player limit of 200 will be raised slowly in the next time to prevent an infested Rookgaard. There are now some boards available at our forum that are related to Secura.

Amera has reached its player limit of 400 quickly since its start a few weeks ago. Because of this great success and the limited power of the server, we will offer a second game world on a server located in the USA in the next days. Moreover, the daily reboot time of Amera has been changed to 12:00 CET where less players are online at this game world.

The new server of Nova suffered from some hardware problems. Therefore we moved the game world back to its old server last week and reduced the player limit back to 600. We are already working on the problem and we will offer a better server soon.

Along with the new game world of Secura we did some minor changes at our website. For example your houses are now shown at your character page or at the guild page. We have unified our email address and URLs for Tibia. The main contact address is now cip@tibia.com if you cannot get help in our guide section or by the counsellors in the game.

In the last days we got a lot of complains about the change of the delay rule for runes. At first we would like to apologise that we have not informed you about the changes in the last news and that the current rule does not work well. We will review the problem in the next days and do a sufficient test with our counsellors before we offer the final solution for a fair and usable delay rule.

Nov 15 2002 - News About Our Current Work

Today we have raised the player limit of Antica, Amera, and Libera by 50 players. New players should prefer the newer game worlds like Libera or Secura. The next new game world, which we may set up in about three weeks, will be a free and normal world (like Nova) running on a server at our provider in Germany. Further we have planed to upgrade the website server.

Due to network maintenance work at our provider in the USA, there may be lag, freezes and random disconnects on Amera and Libera on Friday, November 15th, between 3:00 and 6:00 pm CET. Please play very carefully during this time and do not enter any dangerous places.

The delay for using runes has been temporarily lowered a bit until we implement the final solution in the next bigger update in a few weeks. This update will offer several other new features like a new town to the east of Kazordoon with some new hunting grounds for all players, new items with some surprises for you, and some improvements on Rookgaard. Another point of the update will be improvements concerning the player killing problem. Meanwhile we work on a small client patch to do some bugfixes.

Finally we have four new gamemasters to watch and help you in the game. Please welcome Brathon De'Var, Faerwynn, Indira and Miss Liisa.

A few bugfixes.

Nov 21 2002 - Minor Update to Version 7.02

Today we have released the client version 7.02 to fix several bugs. Ignoring other player should now work again. You can also ignore yells and private messages. The annoying bug "GUI 1085" has been fixed. People who could not log into the game because of this bug, should be able to play again now. You cannot drag objects out of minimised containers anymore. You do not have to download a new client version. Instead your client will be updated automatically when you login next time. However, if the update process does not work correctly for you, you can download the complete version 7.02 from the download section. If you are using the "old client", no update is necessary.

Dec 04 2002 - Tibia 7.1. in Work

Yesterday we made some changes at the house and auction system. Mainly we changed some descriptions and removed some tricks to get more houses than allowed. Now, all house transfers will be done at the daily server save of the given game world. All new auctions of a game world also end at this time. Moreover, guildhalls will be correctly transferred to new guild leaders even if you switch the leadership more than once a day.

Please note that we will set up a new game world next week. It will be open to all players, located at our German provider, and player killing will be allowed.

Moreover, we will present a major update a few days later. It will include a new area, a reviewed Rookgaard, new monsters and new items with special magical abilities. The new client will support private chat channels where you can invite your friends for a talk. Besides, all forms of player killing will be documented. This will help our gamemasters to act against destructive players. Of course we have also fixed several bugs and added some minor features.

Dec 06 2002 - Magic Items

Some items that are already available in the game will finally get magic features. All magic effects grant low advantages which will last only temporary. A soon as all charges are used up, the items will vanish. Please consider this while trading the following items: strange talisman: lowers damage by energy for several attacks might ring: lowers damage by all kind of damage for only a few times stealth ring (the old death ring): makes you invisible for some minutes power ring: improves your fist fighting by a few points for some minutes energy ring: grants mana shield for some minutes life ring: grants additional regeneration for some minutes time ring: lets you walk faster for some minutes silver amulet: lowers damage by poison for several times bronze amulet: lowers losses by mana drain for several times Have fun in Tibia! Dec 10 2002 - New Game World Lunara

Our normal worlds in Germany are overcrowded each weekend. Therefore we have launched a new normal world there today, Lunara. We recommend all new players from Europe to start on this world.

In order to avoid an overcrowded Rookgaard, we have limited the player limit to 150 players at first. With players leaving towards the continent, we will increase this limit step by step.

By the way, Christmas update is coming next week. It will bring many new in-game features and some new areas. You can already have a look at the new monsters at our creature page.

Update 7.1 (Christmas 2002) December 17, 2002

Introduction of the city of Venore, expansion of Rookgaard and the introduction of the Oracle. Magical items such as Rings and Amulets are introduced. The Deathlist on player's account profiles is added as is the ability for premium players to open a Private Chat Channel.
Link to the Official Announcement

Dec 17 2002 - Christmas Update

Christmas Update is here! It introduces many new features in the game. There are now magic items, rings, amulets, and other clothings which give you special abilities like skill improvements, protection against some kinds of damage, regeneration, invisibility, and some more. They work automatically while worn at the correct body position and usually wear out after some time or after a certain amount of uses. You can find most of these items at monsters; others can be bought at NPCs.

Knightmare has designed a great - in a twofold sense: huge and fascinating - area, the city of Venore in the East of the main continent and its surroundings. It containes some new monster races and many things to explore. Besides that, the village of Rookgaard has been extended so that newcomers have more hunting grounds. Leaving Rookgaard now means talking to an oracle which asks you for your desired profession and the town you want to go to. This should help distributing players evenly among the towns.

All deaths of players are now recorded with time and reason. They are shown on the character page on the website. This helps you to see what actually happened to your character and gamemasters to punish massive player killing. Please note that you are responsible for your summoned or convinced creatures and also for magic fields during the first five seconds and all lasting effects caused during that time.

Besides, private chat channels have been introduced in which you can chat with a group of your friends; they are described in detail in the manual. There are special documents like books and parchments which can be edited only once. When a player loses his or her house, all belongings will now be saved and sent to the depot. The delay rule for using magic has been revised: the delay is now after a rune was used. And, of course, there are the obligatory Christmas features: Santa Claus and Christmas trees. Snowballs, however, have been left out as they have been heavily misused for powergaming last year.

When you log in next time, your client should automatically be updated to version 7.1. However, if the update process does not work correctly for you or if you are using the old client, you can download the complete version from the download section.

Have much fun! Your CipSoft Team

Dec 18 2002 - Patch for Old Windows Client

There was a bug in version 7.1 of the old windows client which prevented some players from logging in. If you are affected by this problem, please download the repaired version from our download section.

Update February 21, 2003

A few bugfixes. Summons now receive half of the Experience points of monsters they help kill. Mana Shield now includes protection from magical attacks such as Life Drain.
Link to the Official Announcement

Feb 21 2003 - Minor Game Update

Some bugs in the server code and minor weaknesses of the game have been fixed. The only important change is that you will receive only 50% of the experience points of your summoned or convinced monsters from now on. Also, you will miss one strike if you change your tactics during a fight. On the other hand, a mana shield will now also protect you against life drain of vampires and monsters alike.

Jun 23 2003 - CipSoft's Future

Quite some time has passed since our last update in December. Of course, we have not been on holiday! Today, we would like to tell you what we have been working on and what are our plans for the near future.

Tibia has grown dramatically. The maximum number of players online has increased from about 3,000 around Christmas to more than 8,000 now. 4 new game worlds have been set up since then. This expansion consumes a great part of our daily working time as servers have to be maintained and inquiries of players have to be answered. As a consequence, we are forced to hire some employees. This step, ranging from moving to a larger office to recruiting staff and implementing tools for them, is another great effort. But then (hopefully from August on), we will be able to provide many new updates for the game and better support for you.

Our next goal will be to extend the map by a new area, so that the capacity of each world can be risen to 1,000 players, and to optimize the server code (which is already being done). After that, game freezes will be history once and for all. Also, we will implement some new features, e.g., quests, special effects, worlds with different rules, or even sound, but we have not selected that yet. We hope that we can present this update in autumn.

Of course, we have invested much time into our second game, Tibia Micro Edition, which is the world's first online role-playing game for mobile devices. You could say that we should have dedicated that amount of time to the original Tibia, but it is very important for our company to base on several projects. This makes sure that the company will survive even if one project gets into trouble. With more employees we will be able to push several projects at the same time. By the way, Tibia Micro Edition is a very cool game and you should definitely have look at it.

Thank you for your patience and have much fun in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Update 7.11 (Summer 2003) June 27, 2003

A few bugfixes. The client now automatically connects to a login server; previously, players had to type in the network address manually.
Link to the Official Announcement

Jun 27 2003 - Minor Update with Some Bugfixes

We have done some bugfixes in the client and added some minor features. When you login, your client will automatically be updated to the new version 7.11. If this does not work for you or if you are still using the old client, you can download the complete version in the download section.

Firstly, you can no longer enter an IP address in the network options. Instead the client will automatically try to connect to one of our two login servers and automatically switch to the other one if it does not work. In case we are running a public test server in the future, you will be able to join the test by selecting "Test Server Login" in the network options.

A new ingame feature is that your character will not stop anymore if you use or move objects in your inventory while walking. But as before, it will stop if you drop items on the floor. Editing long texts, which has caused many client crashes, also works now flawlessly. Finally, we have fixed some minor bugs.

By the way, the world Premia has been moved to a stronger server recently. Therefore, freezes on this world should be less and our premium players can play there smoothly again.

Sep 03 2003 - Small Changes on the World Map

Today the map of all game worlds has been updated to correct many old flaws. In the course of these changes we have added a new small premium area on Rookgaard. Additionally, some bugfixes concerning the usage of items and the levitate spell have been installed.

Sep 23 2003 - Hacking Attack on Tibia's Servers

On the night from September 17th to September 18th, one of our servers was hacked. Unfortunately, the hacker got access to our central database. Important data had been manipulated and copied by the hacker. Therefore we had to shutdown our complete service for 5 days. Without rest we patched all servers and changed important parts of our data structure to ensure more security in the future. Moreover, it was inevitable to reset all game servers to a state before the hacking. Of course all premium players got a compensation of 5 days to make up for the lost premium time.

Since the hacker got access to your account passwords and recovery keys we changed them all. We sent an email with the new account data to the address your account is registered to. Unfortunately, many players did not receive this email for several reasons. Please do not send email requests to get your new password, we will solve the problem in another way.

Some hints to help yourself: Many players confuse their account data, so please think about which email address you used for your account. Then you can easily look at the right place. Our Lost Account Interface can tell you the account number if you do not know to which account the new password belongs. If your email account was full or you accidentally deleted the email with the new password, use the Lost Account Interface to request a new password for your Tibia account. If you cannot access your email account anymore, please contact your email provider to get the email account back. Then you can also use the Lost Account Interface. Personalised accounts can get a new password in any case using the Lost Account Interface. Do not worry, we won't let you down and work on a solution for the remaining unaccessible accounts. Stay tuned for more information in the next days.

Please also remember the following: For security reasons you cannot change your password to a password you have used before. Nobody needs to ask you for your password for any reason! Only you need to know your password. Remember it well and do not tell it anyone else. Above all, the CipSoft Team or any other official person will never ask you for your password. Only enter your password at our website or to log into the game! The only official website for Tibia is www.tibia.com, so never enter your password at any other site. Especially do not believe statements at any fanpage affirming something else. To log into the game, only use the original Tibia client available at this site. If you enter your password in any other program you risk that someone else may get it and that you will lose your account. We hope that we can soon continue our normal work, the work on the next bigger game update you have been already expecting for a long time!

See you in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Sep 25 2003 - Small Changes of the Gameplay

We have changed some features in Tibia and fixed some bugs concerning game weaknesses and powergaming. Some of them have already been effective for a week, others are coming online today.

One important change is that summoned and convinced monsters will no longer yield experience points. This also applies to children of monsters, e.g. poison spiders of giant spiders. Instead they will also die when their parent dies. The experience points of the parents have been risen adequately. Moreover, the behaviour of strong monsters has been changed. So be careful when you attack these monsters.

Nov 07 2003 - New Section and an Outlook on the Next Update

Most parts of the statistics section are online again now. The missing server loads page will follow on Monday. The revision of the homepage is now nearly finished. In the next days we will upgrade the web servers again to make the homepage even faster.

Beside the work on the homepage, we have already finished several parts of the next major game update we will present before Christmas. The update will include new areas, quest support in the game and many minor changes in the game play. We also work on solutions of the player killing problem and other topics that cause often trouble in Tibia's community. Therefore we will also change our Tibia Rules in the next udpate. For more details please watch the news regularly.

Kind regards, Your CipSoft Team

Nov 17 2003 - Update Features

Early in December we will start a short test for the upcoming Christmas update. The official release will follow about one week later. Here is a short list of the highlights that are included in this update: A new area near Carlin and some reworked areas like Ulderek's Rock. Of course you will find some new monsters and items in Tibia. New character outfits for Premium Account players. Also several graphics have been improved. A quest system! We have reworked many quests and treasure places in Tibia. As a consequence there will be real rewards for difficult quests - now legendary items will become available on all game worlds. Smarter monsters will show more variety in their combat tactics. The "Amulet of Life" will be replaced by some other way of reducing your loss when dying. Characters will be automatically disconnected after some time of inactivity. An automated recruitment process for new counsellors to enlarge the counsellor community. Automated marking of aggressive players and player killers on all worlds with enabled player vs. player combat. ... and many many minor fixes of bugs or game weaknesses. Have fun in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Dec 11 2003 - More Information About the Upcoming Update

We are still busy testing the upcoming Christmas update. Therefore, you can still join the test server as mentioned in the previous news. Please understand that the test server may be unavailable from time to time.

Meanwhile we want to inform you about some more details of the update features: There will be a new manual page explaining the new marking rules for player killing. You can already read about this on the help board. In addition to the update there will be new Tibia Rules. The new version of the rules will be published soon. The current "Amulet of life" will be disabled and all players can get back their 50,000 gold coins from the NPC Eremo for the remaining amulets. As mentioned before there will be a replacement for this amulet. In short: There are five places near the big towns of Tibia where you can buy blessings that lower the loss of skill and experience points for one death. Also we will introduce the "Amulet of Loss" that will protect your items if you die (except for players who are marked with a red skull). We will no longer offer the old client for Windows. Of course the normal Windows and Linux clients will be both available for the update. Players who would like to advise new players may become tutors when they fulfil certain requirements and a pass a special test. Tutors will help other players regarding questions about the game. A detailed guide for tutors will be offered when the update arrives. So stay tuned! Happy testing! Your CipSoft Team

Update 7.2 (Christmas 2003) December 16, 2003

The Ghostlands near Carlin are introduced, as well as updates to Orc Fort. New outfits for Premium players and smarter monsters are introduced. The new Quest system is introduced with this update, which allows each character to get each quest item only once. The Skull System appears with this update, limiting player-killing on PvP worlds. This is also the first appearance of Tutors and the Help Channel. Finally, the Amulet of Life is removed from the game, becoming Broken Amulets. The Amulet of Loss replaces this item.

Mar 08 2004 - Recent Banishments Due to Cheating

A large number of players have been banished during the past few days because we have found definite evidence that they have been using cheat tools. We would ask any of those players not to contact us because of this. The banishments may be tough, but they are entirely justified because the use of cheat tools is a serious violation of Tibia rules §3 c and d. For this reason we will not lift or reduce any of the banishments imposed for the use of cheat tools during the last few days.

Also, we would like to underline the fact that we have not simply banished the accounts to punish a rule violation. In fact, the players have been banished for their own protection. We have found that the used cheat tool was designed to hack its users, so all concerned accounts were under serious threat of being hacked! The maker of the tool has made sure he could easily request the account data by using a backdoor in the program. This is the reason why many players have recently been hacked.

Please understand that any illegal software that modifies or enhances the official client may contain a backdoor to open up your account to hackers. All Tibia players who are using such software should remove this software immediately and change their passwords at once! Please note that neither a virus scanner nor a firewall will be able to protect your account if somebody is hacking you via a modified client.

Kind regards, Your CipSoft Team

Update 7.23 March 09, 2004

Test server client. Preparation for 7.24.
Link to the Official Announcement

Mar 09 2004 - Test Server for Minor Update

We have improved the player killing mark system (skulls) which was introduced with the Christmas Update. A public test server is now running so that you can test the changes. The official update, also including several new quests, will take place in the next days.

A new party mode replaces the old duel mode (green skulls). By right-clicking other characters and selecting invite to party, you can invite them to your party. They can accept your invitation by right-clicking your character and selecting join XXX's party. The inviting player becomes the leader of the party and all joining invitees will become members of the party. Players within the same party all have a green skull, allowing them to attack each other without consequences. You can leave the party when you're allowed to logout (no logout-block) by right-clicking yourself and selecting leave party. When the party leader leaves the party, the leadership will be automatically forwarded to the oldest member of the party. Additionally you can always pass your leadership to any member of the party by right-clicking a member and selecting pass leadership. All party-states of the characters are indicated by a small shield-symbol beside the character: golden shield = this character is the leader of your party; blue shield = this character is a member of your party; white/golden shield = this character invites you to his party; white/blue shield = this character has been invited to your party, but hasn't accepted yet.

Another improvement is that whenever a skull is about to vanish it flashes for about 5 seconds. During this time the skull is still valid/active, but you know that it will be gone in a moment.

Please note that there is now an automatic banishment for excessive unjustified player killing. Players who reach twice the amount of unjustified kills that are needed to get a red skull, will be banished automatically for 15 days.

We invite you to join the public test. To do so, please make a copy of your Tibia folder (you won't be able to login at the official server with the new version!), execute the copied Tibia file, check the option Test Server Login in the network preferences, and login. Then you will receive a patch for your client.

The player data were taken from the backup of March 5th, so you will perhaps have to use your old password. All quest doors have been locked, so you won't be able to solve any quests. Please report all errors you detect to a tutor, counsellor, or gamemaster.

Kind regards, Your CipSoft Team

Update 7.24 March 14, 2004

Automatic Banishment is added to the Skull System for players who make too many unjustified kills on PvP worlds. The Party system is introduced. A few new Houses and Quests are also added.

Mar 15 2004 - Update of the Tibia Client to Version 7.24

After the test period has been finished successfully a new minor update of the Tibia client is now available. You will automatically receive a patch for your client to the new version at the next login.

The update includes a few new features. The party mode replaces the old duel mode. To get more details about this change please read carefully the new manual pages about player killing and the party mode. Please note that there is now an automatic banishment for excessive killing of characters who are not marked with a "skull". Players who reach twice the amount of unjustified kills that are needed to get a red skull will be banished or deleted automatically. Finally, there are several minor changes on the map of Tibia. For example, now you can rent some new houses and solve new quests.

Beside the update of Tibia we want to announce that there are several new gamemasters who will watch over Tibia. Please see this list if you want to know who the current gamemasters are. We will soon ease the work of the gamemasters by reforming the banishment system. Just keep an eye on the news for more details about the next coming updates.

May 21 2004 - Major Updates About to Come

Since the Tibia community is expanding every day and we are constantly implementing new ideas, we have decided to keep you informed about the changes on a regular basis.

In June a major update on our manual will be released. It has been completely revised and it will definitely be worth reading. You might discover options that you have not been aware of so far. Other information sources have been updated as well, for example we will add a commentary to illustrate our Tibia Rules.

Moreover, there are other exciting developments in Tibia. Besides further game worlds with combat modes you already know, we will introduce a totally new type of game world with enforced player vs. player combat. Further details about this new type of game world will follow, so make sure to read our news on a regular basis to stay informed.

Finally, a major map update will bring brand-new areas to explore. There will be a new city, new items and of course a lot of new dungeons and adventures. The new area will be located south of Darashia. You will find a new desert with eerie pyramids and new dreadful creatures. So seize the time and prepare for new challenges.

Update 7.3 (Summer 2004) August 11, 2004

New Graphics! The continent of Darama is expanded, and the city of Ankrahmun rises out of the southern desert. A host of new monsters are introduced. Automatic Spam control is implemented in-game, including the ability to post messages in Trade-Channel only once every two minutes. The long-awaited ability to buy and sell more than one item at a time is also introduced.
Link to the Official Announcement

Aug 11 2004 - Major Game Update: Tibia 7.3

We have finished the work on the latest major game update. Premium players can now explore the extended continent of Darama. In the south-east of Darama Pharaoh Arkhothep reigns over the mystic city Ankrahmun whose inhabitants live in age-worn pyramids. New monsters await the brave adventurer in the surrounding desert. There are rumours about secret dungeons that hide treasures of inestimable value in the new area. Their hidden entrances are said to be buried deeply in the sand. You can reach Ankrahmun either by travelling through the merciless desert or by taking a trip by ship.

In addition, minor graphic changes can be found everywhere in Tibia. Just look around to see, for example, new street lamps, trees and walls. We would like to thank Ariakas, Excessus, Izuael, Kohai, Oin and Zmaster for their great contributions of art work to the new area.

Moreover, we have implemented an automatic spam control. From now on you can only post a message once every two minutes in the trade channel. In all other public channels there is a limit of lines that can be said within a certain period of time. You will still be able to take part in a normal conversation while spammers will be temporarily muted. Please note that you are not able to talk at all in public channels if you are muted, which means also you are unable to cast spells during this punishment. For details please take a look at the manual section on communication. Since the automatic spam control is not intended to interrupt the prospering trade in Tibia, you now can sell and buy several identical items at the same time at all NPCs.

When you log into the game a patch for your client will be downloaded automatically. If you encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 7.3 from this website.

New graphics and items have been added and your private houses will especially benefit from the new colourful tapestries, pillows and other numerous objects. Also, many widely anticipated features are now also introduced in this update. Free players will especially enjoy the new login queue which gives them an equal chance to log in. Also the eagerly awaited skill bars and a permanent ignore list have been added. More information on all new features can be found in the manual.

There are also some changes on the website. For example, we have removed the project section and added an experience table. Moreover, the house auctions have been revised.

When you log into the game a patch for your client will be downloaded automatically. If you should encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 7.4 from this website.

Enjoy the update! Your CipSoft Team

May 13 2005 - Several Important Things

Some time ago a new category of monsters has been introduced to Tibia. These so called boss monsters are unique and very strong. We would like to invite you to participate in the new voting, which deals with this topic. We are always trying to adapt the game to your wishes and needs, so your feedback really is important and appreciated very much. Please note that we ask for your opinion on different subjects regularly. New votings are started every one or two weeks. A project that was started just recently is the supported fansite programme. If you are interested in stories about Tibia, or would like to receive information about Tibia in your own language, please visit one of our supported fansites. Further, we would like to to encourage you once more to use the convention page. If you have planned a real life event for Tibia players, please turn to a tutor, counsellor or gamemaster in game and apply for a convention announcement.

We have noticed an increase on websites that were only created to steal your account data. These fake sites look like the original website and even use similar URLs. For this reason we would like to remind you to be very careful when you follow a link or enter your account data on a website. If you receive a link from another player, check it very carefully to make sure that you are on the original website. A common trick used by scammers, for example, is to ask players to state their opinion in a forum thread. Other tricks are letters sent to depots, or emails. Most likely you are promised to receive a free Premium Account or free items if you visit a certain website or send your account data to a certain email address. Do not believe this!

Remember: Gamemasters or members of the CipSoft Team will never ask for your account data. All they ever need is your character name.

If somebody in game claims to be a god or a gamemaster and asks for your account data, you can be sure that this person is trying to trick you. Whenever you receive a link from another player or read "free Premium Account" or "free items" you should be very cautious. For further information please have a look at our security hints. If you follow these guidelines, your account should be well protected.

See you in Tibia! Your CipSoft Team

Jun 10 2005 - Update Teaser

Welcome to the jungle! As many of you might already know by now, the summer update will mainly be a map update. The jungle will cover a huge new premium area located to the west of Ankrahmun. There will be plenty of new graphics, including many new plants, new buildings and of course also new monsters. In the jungle you can admire a variety of many colourful flowers, high trees and other exotic plants that will give the world of Tibia a whole new look. Take your sweetheart to a romantic trip to the waterfall but beware of the wild animals that roam the jungle. Of course there will also be a new settlement in the jungle which will provide you with all the facilities that you can find in a regular Tibia city. Players that like to settle down in this green paradise, can rent one of the nice pile dwellings. So if you would like to try out how cosy a hammock can be, start saving up today.

We have distributed a few artworks and screenshots of the new area to the supported fansites. To get a first impression on how the new area will look like do not miss to take a look there.

Jun 30 2005 - Update Teaser II

Tiquanda is the name of the new area which will be the setting for this year's summer update. From the mountains of Kha'zeel that separate Tiquanda from the Daramian desert rises the river Mahaji that meanders through the jungle until it reaches the west coast. The warm and humid climate here creates ideal conditions for many colourful plants, various mushrooms in all sizes, bushes and fruit trees. Old giant trees covered by lianas can be found in the deep rainforest in the centre of Tiquanda called the Baksha. The only human settlement in Tiquanda is called Port Hope as it represents the hope to survive and to build up a new life in these harsh surroundings. The first humans that walked on Tiquanda came here by accident. Travelling to Thais, a few sailors from Venore were shipwrecked by a heavy storm and found shelter on the hitherto unknown coast of Tiquanda. Exotic plants awaited the castaways and the thick forest provided enough material to fix the ship. Soon they were ready to set the sails again. Upon their arrival in Thais, the exotic fruits, mushrooms and tropical wood were quickly recognised as profitable trade goods and a few brave Thaians and Venorans returned to colonise the unknown land. Today Port Hope has established itself as a great starting point for the fearless adventurer to explore Tiquanda. Until now, only few humans have dared to set foot into the widely unexplored land of the Baksha, and even fewer have returned, spreading seemingly unbelievable stories about giant apes living in ancient ruins and intelligent, lizard-like creatures roaming the jungle. Any adventurer who is brave or foolish enough to explore a place where nature's reign is still undisputed and death lurks behind every tree will find his challenge here.

We have again distributed a few artworks and screenshots of the new area to the supported fansites. To get a first impression on how the new area will look like do not miss to take a look there.

Jul 14 2005 - Recent Internal Developments

We would like to inform you about two new positions that have been introduced to Tibia recently. Former senior gamemasters who are employees of CipSoft are now called Customer Support. All other senior gamemasters that do not work for CipSoft have become normal gamemasters. The position of senior gamemasters has been closed. This means, if you would like to complain about a banishment of a normal gamemaster via the complaint function in your account and you wish to contact a superior, your complaint will be answered by an employee of CipSoft and not a senior gamemaster anymore. Along with this information, we would like to introduce a new employee to you. GM Tavaren started to work for CipSoft on July 1st, 2005.

The other position that has been opened is that of a Senator. CipSoft may offer retired gamemasters, counsellors or long-term tutors who have served the community well this honorable title. Senators have an advisory function, but are regarded as regular players in all other respects. Please note that the decision as to whether or not a former helper is invited to become a senator rests with CipSoft.

We would also like to give you a small preview about the next steps we are going to take in improving the quality of rule enforcement in Tibia. We will soon introduce a completely new board moderation system to ensure a much better level of quality of our forum. Further, we are working on a number of measures against cheating which will be installed with the next game update. Of course we will give you more information about these steps when they are about to be introduced.

Jul 22 2005 - Final Update Teaser

We have added the finishing touch to the artwork, placed the last little blade of grass in the right position and finally stopped digging deeper and deeper dungeons. Yes, the release of the new update is approaching. We hope our final update teaser will help the most impatient ones among you to bridge the remaining waiting time. But even if you are just curious to find out what kinds of new creatures you can meet in Tiquanda, you surely would not want to miss the opportunity to take a look at our supported fansites.

Jul 28 2005 - Solutions Against Cheaters

On a game in which more than 100,000 players take part, there are always some rotten apples that play in an unfair manner and destroy the fun of others. For example, some players try to gain an unfair advantage by using unofficial software, while others abuse game weaknesses to make the life of their fellow Tibians miserable. To equalise the chances for all players, we are going to introduce new anti-cheat features in the next game update.

Have you ever been killed by a lured giant spider? From now on, creatures will just disappear if they are lured too far from their spawn point for a certain distance. The lurer will receive neither experience points nor loot, and the creature will reappear normally at the next respawn. Also, creatures will disappear if they have been roped up more than two floors.

Are you tired of being blocked by magic fields placed on parcels? From now on, you can walk over all stacked bigger objects, like parcels, crates and chairs. Additionally, you cannot conjure magic fields on impassable objects, like a chest or a table. Therefore, blocking by using parcels and fire fields will not be possible anymore.

Have you ever been caught in a trap? Now, non-offensive runes will automatically effect the person who uses the rune if there are more than one character standing on this field. Additionally, all ships and the pyramids of Ankrahmun will become protection zones. Also, rope spots cannot be blocked anymore. So you can be sure you will be always able to rope to safety even if there are items lying on the rope spot.

You have scraped all your money together to buy this beautiful piano and then some fool comes around and smashes it? Buy big furniture now in handy construction kits. You can carry them in your backpack and unwrap them safely in all rentable houses. Once they have been unpacked, you can move them around as usual.

Tired of seeing paladins training with some pickup tool in sheer endless training sessions? All throwing weapons, such as spears, throwing knives and stars, have now a certain probability to break and disappear. So after a while the paladin will run short of ammunition.

Ever wondered how it was possible to fish without a bait? To catch a fish you will now need worms that will disappear from your inventory whenever you have actually made a catch. That does not only give a more realistic impression of this action, but, above all, it will also help to make the life of macro fishers more difficult. Since every experienced fisherman knows that worms are needed to make a good catch, you will not advance in your fishing skill if you have no bait in your backpack.

You have stumbled again over one of the many macro users? A certain amount of soul points will now be needed to make runes in addition to your mana. You obtain soul points by slaying creatures whose experience points equal at least your character's level. For example, a level 20 can easily obtain soul points by killing trolls or wasps, up to level 40 a rotworm will do, and a level 150 will still receive them for killing a cyclops. You also gain soul points by sleeping in a bed. Just like mana and hit points, promoted characters will also gather soul points more quickly. To avoid a shortage of runes due to a lack of macroing druid farms, you can buy them now at the NPC of your trust in your favourite magic shop. A character that is played actively and in a fair manner will hardly experience any difference at all. But finding a macro druid should become an exceptional occurrence from now on!

Aug 08 2005 - Major Game Update Tomorrow

On Tuesday, August, 9th, there will be the long awaited game update. Therefore, all game servers and the website will be offline from 14:00 CEST for about five hours. Update 7.5 (Summer 2005) August 9, 2005

The huge jungle area known as Tiquanda and its main city of Port Hope are introduced for Premium account players. The city is surrounded by settlements of dangerous monsters, including Banuta, Chor and Trapwood. Mighty Hydras roam parts of the jungle, waiting to take explorers unaware. Free Account players can explore the new and mysterious Dark Cathedral near Plains of Havoc, where Bandits, Assassins, Dark Monks and more are waiting for them. Worms are introduced with this update; you must have some in your inventory in order to fish. Soul Points are also introduced with this update, to help control cheating. Other improvements include Furniture that you buy in parcels (no more kicking large tables up the streets!) and the Anti-Luring feature that causes monsters pulled too far from their spawn point to vanish. Spears "break" and disappear with this update; however, to help compensate, Small Stones, Throwing Knives and Throwing Stars can be reused (they used to vanish immediately upon use).
Major Game Update: Tibia 7.5

Aug 09 2005 - Major Game Update: Tibia 7.5

The test stage for the latest major game update has ended and we would like to thank all participating players for their help. Premium players will now be able to admire the colorful flowers, large trees and many exotic plants in the new jungle area Tiquanda. Apes, lizards, dworcs, and many other new creatures are ready to defend their home against unwanted intruders. Players can rest from their exhausting jungle expeditions in the new settlement Port Hope. But be wary! There have been reports about various ape raids on this little town. Tiquanda can be reached either by travelling through the mountains of Kha'zeel or by taking a trip by ship. Also free account players will have a new area to explore. If they are not afraid of the dark, they can investigate the incidences in the Dark Cathedral. In addition to these new areas, minor graphic changes can be found everywhere in Tibia. Just look around to see, for example, new trees, new plants in the swamps and new stones.

Moreover, we have implemented several anti-cheat features in the game. To name but a few, soul points and fishing baits have been introduced in order to curb the massive use of macros, luring has been made impossible by making creatures disappear when moving too far from their spawn point, and furniture now comes in handy parcels that can be placed in the character inventory.

When you log into the game a patch for your client will be downloaded automatically. If you encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 7.5 from this website or from our supported fansites.

Technical Update

Nov 16 2005 - Technical Update

In preparation for the Christmas update, some important technical adjustments must be made. For this reason all game servers will be offline today, November 16th, until 18:00 CET. Please note that this is not the annual Christmas update yet. You will hardly see any changes in the game. A noticeable adjustment we have made is the increased durability of spears, throwing stars and knives. Also, items or creatures that are roped up from a hole will now end up on the field the rope user is standing on.

When you log into the game a patch for your client will be downloaded automatically. If you encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 7.55 from this website or from some of our supported fansites.

Nov 18 2005 - Update Teaser and New Supported Fansite

What has Santa in his sack for you this Christmas?

This Christmas Tibia will get a new look. You will discover new graphics wherever you go. Just look around to see newly shaped mountains, new water, animated waves on the Tibian coast, a new design for grass and much more. But watch out, if you get too close to the sea, you might get wet feet! Of course, we have also continued to expand Tiquanda. Eerie and mysterious dungeons have been discovered in the dense jungle recently, and until now nobody knows what is hidden in the dark. Rumour has it that gruesome beasts dwell down there to guard valuable treasures. Moreover, there have been calls for help by some inhabitants of Tiquanda. Brave warriors tell tales about strange incidents in the ape settlement Banuta. So if you are looking for a challenge, you will definitely enjoy an excursion to the jungle!

First screenshots can be found at our supported fansites. To get a first impression of the new graphics, do not miss to take a look there.

Also we would like to welcome tibiamx.com.mx, our newest supported fansite. This site is especially interesting for Spanish-speaking players who will find interesting articles, helpful guides, jokes and information about Mexican conventions here.

Nov 24 2005 - Final Update Teaser and New Supported Fansite

More details on the Christmas Update!

In addition to greatly improved new graphics that can be found all over Tibia, the Christmas update will also introduce the first step of a revised vocation and game balancing. It will only cover a limited part of the balancing problems in Tibia, so further adjustments for all vocations will follow in future updates. This year's Christmas update will mainly concern druids and sorcerers of level 40 and below. As these classes have learnt to master the arcane forces of magic, they will now be able to wield powerful spell wands in combat. Those spell wands, which work in a way that is similar to regular weapons, will allow druids and sorcerers to gain experience points quicker in order to make up for the disadvantages these vocations have at lower levels when compared to knights and paladins. Magic wands can only be used by sorcerers and druids. There will be several types that differ in power and level requirement. When used in combat, they will consume a small amount of mana points with every hit which will count towards the magic level as usual. Spell wands can be bought in shops or looted from creatures. Furthermore, the mana regeneration speed will be increased, and the mana costs of all spells will be adjusted accordingly. However, instant spells will become cheaper and therefore also more effective. Note that the maximum of mana will stay the same, so higher levels will now be needed to cast spells. As the magic system was introduced at a time when a level 50 character was still considered to be high-level, we have decided to readjust the required spell level minimums to the current situation. Being able to cast a spell will now depend on your experience level rather than on your magic level. You will not forget spells you have already learnt, but you will be unable to use them unless you have achieved the newly required level. Again, these changes are only a first step into a whole new direction that will eventually bring exciting changes to all Tibian vocations!

Even though the ships will still work the same like before, they will now appear in a new design. Do not miss the chance to take a peek at the great new graphics on our supported fansites.

Again, we would like to welcome a new supported fansite. Many of you will already know the amazing site of Mr. Scriptman erig.net. It is that site to look at if you are interested in all kind of statistical information and resources about Tibia.

Dec 01 2005 - Private Test Server Open

A private test server will open today to which all tutors, counsellors and gamemasters are invited. If you belong to one of these groups, please have a look at the internal tutor board to find out more details. Our helper team will test the new features for this year's Christmas update.

The Christmas update will be released as soon as the testing is over. The new update will bring many exciting new features and graphics. At night, lanterns and torches will let Tibia shine in colourful lights. The ships have been newly designed as well as all ground textures, water, mountains and roofs.

Like already mentioned in the last update teaser, the mana regeneration will be raised which means that all instant spells can be cast more quickly. Of course, we have adjusted everything that is effected by the increased mana regeneration such as mana potions or the amount of mana that is needed to reach the next magic level. Many of you already know by now that wands will be introduced for young sorcerers and druids. Apart from getting new names, the wands that are in the game will be changed in value and rarity. Therefore, we advise all players not to trade with wands until the update has been released.

Dec 07 2005 - Security Warning and Important House Issue

A new paragraph has been added to our security hints in which we underline the importance of updating the operating system and other software like the browser on your computer. Please read them carefully and follow all advices at all times to avoid getting hacked.

Along with the new graphics, walls had to be replaced in many buildings. For this reason it will be necessary to clean all houses for the new update. You can either bring all items you have stored in your house to the depot yourself in the next few days, or have them moved to your depot automatically during the update. Of course, all of your items will be sent to your depot safely and you will not lose them even if the depot limit is exceeded. This applies also to guildhalls. Everything that is still in the guildhall when the update is launched will be sent to the depot of the guild leader. Please understand that all items that are not portable, such as chairs and tables, must be deleted.

Kind regards, Your CipSoft Team

Dec 08 2005 - Public Test Server Open

We have decided that it is necessary to test the stability of the servers including the revised magic system. Therefore, the test server will be open for everybody now. To log into the test server, make a copy of your Tibia folder. Start the copied Tibia client, check the option Test Server Login in the network preferences and log in. You will then receive a patch for your client. The player data were taken from the backup of November 29, 2005 so you may have to use your old password. Please note that you will not be able to log into the official servers with the test version of the client! Also, all level doors have been locked, so you will be unable to solve most quests.

Apart from beautiful new graphics everywhere and colourful light sources, all characters should observe a raised speed of their mana regeneration. Wands for sorcerers and rods for druids can either be bought in your local rune shop or looted from different creatures. They work similar to bows - you simply place them in your hand, target an enemy on the battle list and the wand will automatically fire, consuming a small amount of mana per shot at the same time. The wands work at different ranges - some require going rather close to the enemy, some will allow you to keep a safe distance between you and your foes. They can be held in one hand which means that you can carry a shield at the same time. The damage is a fix value that does not depend on experience or magic level. However, all wands have a level restriction and cannot be used by knights and paladins. Also, wands and rods have different damage types which affect their usefulness against certain creatures. Therefore, monsters that are immune to fire will not be effected by a rod that has fire damage.

Also note that you will need soul points now to cast supply spells such as creating arrows or food. Moreover, you will obtain a warning whenever you try to copy a link in the game. However, please note that this warning will not appear if you are sending somebody a link. Additionally, on all writeable papers, such as letters and parchments, the name of the last person that changed the document is shown.

Update 7.6 (Christmas 2005) December 12, 2005

This is a huge graphics update, with many of the graphics being refreshed and redone. Lighting effects are added. The Magic System is changed dramatically, with the rate of Mana regeneration speeding up 4x from before the update. The amount of mana required for spells is adjusted accordingly. The ability to cast Spells is changed from a Magic Level based requirement to a Level requirement. Wands and Rods are introduced for mages. All letters, tags and writable papers now show the name of the last character to edit them. The Linux client is no longer supported by Cip as of this update.
Major Game Update 7.6

Dec 12 2005 - Major Game Update 7.6

Dear Tibia players,

the waiting is finally over. We proudly present the annual Christmas update 2005!

As of today, Tibia now has an all-new look! Much of the traditional graphics has been improved. Discover majestic ships, animated shorelines, craggy mountains, and many further exciting new details on the map. What's more, coloured light sources have been introduced which add a whole new touch to the game. Enter your favourite dungeon and enjoy the scary atmosphere!

Furthermore, as a first step to a complete revision of the game balancing, the magic system has been readjusted. Mana now regenerates at much higher rates to give you greater flexibility when using magic. The advancement in the magic arts will now be more challenging, as minimum experience levels are required to learn and use spells. Many further adjustments have been made, so check the spells page of the library section for details. Also, a whole new item class has been introduced. Wands and rods are powerful tools of magic that can be wielded in combat by sorcerers and druids. Go to your local magic shop and get your favourite wand or rod today!

In addition to these major changes, a number of minor adjustments have been made. For example, letters, labels and other editable items now show the name of the most recent editing character. Also, the automatic spam control has been extended to prevent massive spamming of different characters through private messages.

Two final notes: As has already been announced, all portable items that were stored in houses have been moved. You will find them in the corresponding depots, so do not be alarmed. However, please understand that all non-portable items that were stored in houses had to be deleted. Finally, please note that the Linux client will no longer work because of the update, so it has been removed from the download section. If you would like to go on playing Tibia on a Linux system, we recommend you read the hint in the FAQ.

The update patch will download automatically when you log into the game. If you should encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 7.6 from this website.

Enjoy the update! Your CipSoft Team

Update February 17, 2006

Some bugfixes and new features, including being able to open a chat channel with a character who is not online and a change in letters and labels -- from now on, they will only show the name of characters who changed their content.
