That is not exactly the same as the projects in the list. It was done by one person and didn't take mass edits to a large amount of the website like the others require(d). About the issues with Outfiter, I have a feeling this is thanks to Wikia messing around again like always and this is why the outfiter is having the current problems. Therefore, even if I knew what I was doing with the outfiter code, I probably wouldn't be able to sort it. Beejay 18:21, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
Possible new project: rotating sprites
Currently, we only show the two frontal animation frames of creature sprites:
I got lots of free time now, perhaps I could handle most work. It only takes a few minutes per sprite. =)
Do you intend this just for creature images or NPCs too? Either way it is a lot of work to convert all present images although i would not mind doing this when adding new images. I like the idea as it matches the wiki philosophy of providing comprehensive information - showing all 4 sides, not just the front.
My general concern is, like many other things, most contributors would not animate with 4 sides, considering most do not even add these images let alone animate them. All this means is that it falls on the most active to do this, and the wiki looks better when things are consistent.
I say if you are willing to put in the time then do it. I will help as i can, but it would not be my main priority as this is an aesthetic improvement. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 01:52, March 8, 2012 (UTC)
I like the idea but I don't like how the animation looks like, I think it looks weird. It still looks weird but maybe something like this is better:
- Sand still south (500ms)
- Walk south 1 (250ms)
- Walk south 2 (250ms)
- Sand still east (500ms)
- Walk east 1 (250ms)
- Walk east 2 (250ms)
- Sand still north (500ms)
- Walk north 1 (250ms)
- Walk north 2 (250ms)
- Sand still west (500ms)
- Walk west 1 (250ms)
- Walk west 2 (250ms)
For most creatures I could generate images from tibia.spr file, 1 folder by creature, they would only need to be imported, exported and named on an image editor. Animation times could be set with some macro if using photoshop/imageready. For NPCs outfiter could be used but sometimes it is hard to get accurate colors.
I still think it looks weird, is just me?

I thought we used south sprites only because it looks as if the creature is coming toward the viewer. I like that better than turning sprites. Not saying it has no place here, but don't think they should replace the main creature images.
And about the speed, we have custom frame rates for different creatures too, there's no standard. I personally think it should be dependent on (estimated) in-game speed. I wouldn't want Squirrel for example having the same framerate as a Rat...

In my opinion Daniel Letalis' animation looks weirder cause of the "stand still" frames... We could make a poll about it and see what people like most.
Possible new projects
i think there are two possible projects that are rather important :
- changing the Old Sprites page to be easier to use (as each update brings sprite changes and there should be a good way of tracking them)
- merging or revising all the Traveling/Sails/Boat/Dog Sled/Magic Carpet/Steam Boat etc pages for an easier way to find how to travel to/from places and what it takes with additional paths as eramo's island/eclipse/fibula/draconia etc
i'll try doing parts of these on my free time but it's much better if more people are involved and possibly to find better solutions for them, tell me what you think.
About old sprites: I agree, we should define some standards and add a category to old sprites so they can be listed with dpl.
About travelling, have you seen this: http://en.tibiaml.com/travel_calculator/ ? It might not include all possible ways to travel, but its a start. A cool feature would be a calculator where you are able to define a start location (e.g. Kevin's post office), which is far away from boats. If you give your level, the walking speed can be calculated, also the distance in squares and it shows some alternatives to travel, taking money and time spent into account. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 09:42, June 28, 2012 (UTC)
well i didn't see this calculator before but it's not that much better than : This table i'm talking on something similar that combine all the cities and normal places as in this table (that should be updated) aswell as known locations (as i said draconia, hellgate, fibula, shadowthorn). places people often have trouble getting into and leaving. if we could sum it in one index page it could be very usefull (for example if someone wish to leave draconia there are easier ways than walking, or if you want to get to a specific ice island? maybe someone asked you to meet in fibula or greenshore, there are alot of pages that are missing the paths and i think it's better to put them all in one page rather than in each page). about the way you suggested, such calculations are pretty impossible imo : too many varies and some of them are unknown, also it would pretty much have to be done menually (fire fields, jungle grass, stairs and ladders, levitation, stone holes that needs shovelin etc and thats without counting speed change of tiles and eq) so if someone can script that, he should think about starting his own game cause that would be pretty insane :). maybe a two page solution would be more usefull as in :
- fares (ship/carpet/sled/teleport)
- routes (hellgate/fibula/ etc)
should be worked out but a discussion is a good start :)
Have you noticed how deprecated categories are on TibiaWiki today? I believe we should work on categorizing all pages and improve old categories. Also, all categories should be accessible from Category:Browse. —Arkshi (Talk | contribs) 20:16, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
- We're not champions of the categories, its a bit poo. You're right it needs a-fixin
