Alternate Hotkey Configurations

This is a tutorial on how to make multiple sets of hotkeys for playing on different characters without changing the hotkeys everytime you log on a different character. It is a little advanced and requires some computer knowledge.

  1. Start Tibia. Set the hotkeys you wish to use for your first hotkey set then close the client.
  2. Open the Application Data folder: press Start, then Run and type in %appdata%/tibia/
  3. Copy and paste the Tibia.cfg file and re-name it to Hotkeys1.cfg
  • Repeat steps 1-3 with your second set of alternative hotkeys. Copy and paste Tibia.cfg and change its name to Hotkeys2.cfg. To create more, simply replace the number in the file name to 3, 4, etc.

Note: the Tibia.cfg file contains all settings used by the Tibia client. It is recommended to create a backup so you can recover your settings in case something goes wrong.

Next you will create 2 batch files (*.bat) that you can use to open Tibia with different hotkeys.

  • Press Start, then Run and type in notepad %appdata%/tibia/hotkeys1.bat
  • Click yes to create new file. In the notepad paste the following:
copy hotkeys1.cfg tibia.cfg /y
c:
cd "c:\program files\tibia\"
start c:\PROGRA~1\tibia\tibia.exe

(Use PROGRA~1 in place of Program Files, because as you cant use quotes with start command, you cant have space in the directory. Use PROGRA~2 in place of Program Files (x86) in case you are using 64-bit Windows with Tibia installed in the 32-bit directory).

  • Press Start, then Run and type in "notepad %appdata%/tibia/hotkeys2.bat"
  • In the notepad paste the following:
copy hotkeys2.cfg tibia.cfg /y
c:
cd "c:\program files\tibia\"
start c:\PROGRA~1\tibia\tibia.exe

(Use PROGRA~1 in place of "Program Files", because as you cant use quotes with start command, you cant have space in the directory. Use PROGRA~2 in place of Program Files (x86) in case you are using 64-bit Windows with Tibia installed in the 32-bit directory).

  • Save both files and create shortcuts on your desktop to the MS-DOS Batch files.
  • Rename the shortcuts to whatever you desire.

From now on use the MS-DOS Batch to open Tibia, it will set the hotkeys you configured, open Tibia.exe and the command window will close itself.

To make the shortcut icons look like the Tibia icon, right-click the shortcut and open properties. Select "Change Icon", navigate you your Tibia folder and click Tibia.exe.
