Ah, the first day of the fourth month of the year, April, and just as with all other years, it is named April Fools' Day, an entire day dedicated solely to pranking people. And of course, a game with a player base as large as Tibia's wouldn't miss the opportunity to deceive their players by informing them of drastical changes that would change Tibia as we know it if they had actually meant to make them.
Below you can read what has happened behind the scenes of the fansites and among CipSoft themselves in an attempt to honour April Fools' Day.
2005[]
- CipSoft announced that they were looking for an event manager, who would get a character with special abilities. A total of 784 persons sent their applications to CipSoft. The full article explains this in more detail, the article explaining this was an April Fools' joke can be found here.
2006[]
- CipSoft added a false test on their website supposedly used for a Gamemasters' selection process. This test can no longer be seen.
2007[]
- The Ruthless Seven were announced to be raiding the Plains of Havoc, but instead The Ruthless Herald appeared, a monster similar to the Halloween Hare, which only changed nearby players' appearances.
- TibiaNews had several jokes, including an announcement that they had been sold to Blizzard, an article talking about the next summer update and saying that the there would be a downtime expected for a new patch.
- On some Non-PvP worlds, Gamemasters helped to spread a rumor that the world was turning PvP-Enforced.
- Erig has also taken part in the spirit of the first of April, by including completely alarming information about Excessus (a retired gamemaster, now a senator) and Mateusz Dragon Wielki (at that time Tibia's highest leveled player), saying that Excessus had made something around 22,962,016 experience while Mateusz had lost 469,124,882 experience.
2008[]
- CipSoft announced in their news ticker that TibiaNews had merged with TibiaBr.
2009[]
2010[]
- CipSoft asked the help of the community with the decision of a new intern to help Jan with the graphics creation. The announcement of the joke can be found here.
2011[]
- CipSoft announced a new widget for the flash client which could allow players to play TibiaME inside Tibia. The announcement of the joke can be found here.
- Tibiopedia together with TibiaVenezuela said that players could win a Ferumbras Doll or Dragon Goblet by visiting one of those fansites and then write about the history of these items.
- CipSoft's post soon after made the contest even more believable. Ferumbras from Tibiopedia.pl has just abducted dragon Khax from TibiaVenezuela.com! If you want to save this poor dragon which is under control of evil Ferumbras and want to win a Ferumbras Doll or Dragon Goblet, visit one of those fansites soon!. After the farce was revealed (to the delight of those who had participated), a 30 day premium account was raffled.
2012[]
- On March 30, CipSoft announced that, encouraged by spring, they would give Tibia's logo a new colour. They made a poll asking the community which of the 5 proposed colours was going to be the new colour of Tibia's logo. On April 2 they announced through the News Ticker that it was just an April Fools' prank.
2013[]
- On April 1, CipSoft produced a fake teaser for the upcoming Spring Patch, announcing four new and ridiculous ways to die. After letting it sink in for a while, they updated the article the day after by admitting it was an April Fools' joke.
2014[]
- CipSoft did not pull off an April Fools' prank in 2014. However, this post on March 21 announcing the implementation of the icy island of Chyllfroest where Yetis had a possibilty of spawning was met by some players with incredulity. Their suspicions were proven wrong when April 3 arrived and the island could be found in-game, though.
- In addition, many Tibians took the increase in the price of premium time announced in an open letter on March 24 as an early April Fools' joke. The prompted scepticism-inspired responses even urged CM Mirade to explicitly state that the announced price increase was in fact veridical and not meant jestingly. Nevertheless, the rumours persisted until the change was actually effectuated on April 22.
- There were also some players who thought that the Premium Widget implemented with Updates/10.38 on March 31 was just a temporary joke and would be removed after April Fools' Day had passed. It is still a part of both clients to this day, however.
2015[]
- On April 1, CipSoft fooled many players by purporting to implement a Chyllfroest NPC named Snowblind Reinhold, a Yeti whom anyone could gain Bunnyslippers from by passing a yodel test. After waiting for a day and giving gullible players the chance to vent their anger and frustration about the anticipated decline in the value of Bunnyslippers, CipSoft updated the article by informing these players that they had fallen victim to a ruse.
2016[]
- CipSoft fooled many players this year by claiming to be working on a Tibia VR Mode to be implemented soon. They had even supposedly created special Tibia Glasses to be used for this purpose that were limited to 1,000 pairs. They updated the article to say it was an April Fool on 4 April.
2017[]
- CipSoft published an interview with a non-existent intern CEO whom many players on the forums had rumoured to exist due to some sudden but promising changes the last few months, such as the implementation of BattlEye. CipSoft revealed their ruse on April 3, but also stated that the two major changes promised by the intern CEO in the fake interview (a Mac client and Retro Hardcore PvP worlds) were actual plans and not part of the joke.
2018[]
- On Thursday 29 March, CipSoft sent out a survey to part of the player base that asked after their opinion on some controversial changes, including hybrid vocations and the ability to burgle houses. They revealed it was a joke the following Tuesday.
2019[]
On April 1, CipSoft announced an April Fools' Backpack Hunt in which 3 backpacks were hidden, in each Game World, one of them containing a code which could be used to take part in the raffle of 5× 250 non-transferable Tibia Coins packages. Surprisingly, it turned out to be true.

Two Demon Backpacks and one Crown Backpack (item order may vary) like the ones shown by the screenshot above were hidden in different Libraries in every Game World. The raffle code was written on the Letter. The following text was written on the CM Token by either CM Burchan or Mirade:
- Awarded to one of the lucky backpack finders in the April Fools' Backpack Hunt of 2019!
2020[]
On April 1, CipSoft announced a new A Client for the Elderly. This client would solve the problems of an aging Tibia community, e.g. it would allow you to enlarge individual elements of the client window, which would avoid the so-called missclicks. In addition to the client itself, eventually new servers would be created on which life would go just simply slower.
