Troubled Animals

Creation of Legends

The Poacher Caves

Your first mission is to enter the Poacher Caves (here) and find a Book with Old LegendsBook with Old Legends. Go through the southern passages and descend to floor -4. Open the chest behind a door in the southern part of the room, here.

Once you have the book, travel to Ankrahmun and ask the shopkeeper Ahmet (next to the bank) about your book. He will offer to help as long as you are willing to pay 5,000 gold. Agree to receive Book with Old Legends (Doctored)Book with Old Legends (Doctored).

Return to the room in Poacher Caves where you first found the book, and use it on the table, right next to the dripping candles. If done correctly, the book will vanish and your quest log will be updated with the message You are placing the book on the table, hopefully the poachers will discover it soon.. Report your success to Alkestios. He will send you to Ikassis for your next mission.

The Ghost of a Wolf

Ikassis

Travel to Edron and walk here. Greet Ikassis, ask her for a mission, and accept it. She will tell you to seek out Ghostly Wolf on Cormaya and give you a Fae Talisman Fae Talisman to allow for communication between you two.

Ghostly Wolf
Go here at night, ask Ghostly Wolf for a mission, and accept it.

Now make your way to Ulderek's Rock and use the Pile of Bones (Quest) here, next to the Sleeping War Wolf (You discover a sleeping wolf in this tent. Could it be the one you are searching for?) to obtain Notes of a Poacher.

Now go to Venore and ask Irmana about fur. She will sell Fur of a Wolf WhelpFur of a Wolf Whelp to you for 1,000 gps. Take the fur back to Ghostly Wolf and report the progress of your mission to her. Use the fur on the Weeping Stone (Tears)Weeping Stone (Tears) (You place the whelp fur in the stone's mouth and thus lay it to rest.), and say whelp to Ghostly Wolf. Go back to Ikassis and confirm to her that you've fulfilled the mission Ghostly Wolf asked you to. She will send you to A Swan, who is located here.

Note: you can lay the whelp fur to rest even during the day when Ghostly Wolf is not there. Your quest log will update, but the mission will not be considered complete - you will still need to talk to Ghostly Wolf before you will be able to turn the mission in to Ikassis.

The Swan Maiden

Greet A Swan, ask her for a mission, and accept it. A Swan will direct you to Chief Grarkharok (you can check the Troll Sabotage Quest for instructions on how to reach him, but this part is optional) to ask about the cloak. You can go straight to Tereban (just above Edron's depot) and ask him about a cloak instead (this part is mandatory to proceed the quest). You now must find five piles of Swan Feathers Swan Feathers in five different locations:

  • South of Edron (You found some beautiful swan feathers on the grass near the wheat.)
  • East in Darashia (You found some beautiful swan feathers in the dustbin.).
  • North of Darashia (You found some beautiful swan feathers entangled in the cactus stings.)
  • North of Darashia (You found some beautiful swan feathers beneath the dragon skull.)
  • North of Darashia (You found some beautiful swan feathers under the dead tree.)

Stepping near each pile will place one Tattered Swan Feather in your Inventory. Once you have visited all five spots and obtained five feathers, go back to A Swan and report your mission.

Now go back to Alkestios and he will tell you that you have earned the trust of the Fae and are allowed to visit Feyrist. To do so, obtain a Small Amethyst, Small Emerald, Small Ruby or Small Sapphire, go through any elemental archway found in temples and use the corresponding gem on the Holy Shrine you find inside. Different shrines will send you to different places on Feyrist.

The Fairy Treasure

The Tooth Fairy

Go to Tooth Fairy south of the Suntower and ask her for a mission. She will ask you to deliver some Presents to several children who have recently lost a Milk Tooth. You have to visit Quero's daughter's room in Thais (here), Allen's son's room in Venore (here), and Rowenna's daughter's room in Carlin (here). In each room, use the Chest of Drawers (Quest) to obtain a Milk Tooth (You have found a milk tooth.) and use one of the Presents on a Bed (Quest) near it (You are placing the present for Quero's/Rowenna's daughter/Allen's son on the pillow.). Report back to Tooth Fairy by saying mission and she will give you a Part of an Old Map (Upper Left).

In addition, Tooth Fairy has an optional task for you that consists of obtaining several sorts of teeth for her collection. She wants an Orc Tooth, Shark Teeth, Vampire Teeth, a Perfect Behemoth Fang, a Carrion Worm Fang, and Werewolf Fangs. She will reward you with a White Pearl for each of these items, and once you've brought her all of them and you've finished the main mission above you'll receive the Toothfairy Assistant achievement.

Tired Trees

Find the Tired Tree north of the Fields of Glory, here, and ask for a mission. The tree will tell you that it wants a bedtime story about Dryads and will ask you for your help. The story is held within a book called The Seeds of Life, which is located in Ab'Dendriel's library, but you don't have to go there. Ask for a mission again, confirm that you have found the story and then say the books name, The Seeds of Life. You will receive a Part of an Old Map (Bottom Left).

Beset Stones

For this part you need a Rake, buy one in Venore.

Now you must go to the Grumpy Stone, which is located between Kazordoon and Femor Hills, here. These Fae need your help scratching their backs since they are stuck in this form. After asking for a mission, use the rake on all 5 sentient stones around the Grumpy Stone. Report your mission to proceed and receive a Part of an Old Map (Upper Right)

The Last Part

Grumpy Stone will tell you that the last part of the map is hidden in a Big Fly Agaric somewhere on the Fields of Glory. You can find it just south of the Tired Tree, here.

You discover the fourth map part between the big fly agaric's gills.

Use it to put all map pieces together and get an Old Map. Use the map to find out where the treasure is hidden:

The old map is artfully drawn. It tells you to search for a stone sun mosaic in the very south of Thais.

Go to the sun mosaic here and use the small stones in its center.

You discover something shiny that is hidden beneath the stones.

You will receive a Butterfly Ring, 5 pieces of Rainbow Quartz and 5 Ancient Coins.

A Dream Come True

Required equipment:

Find the NPC Maelyrra at the center of Feyrist, and offer your help to combat the invasion of nightmare creatures by rebuilding the magical barrier that protects Feyrist from Roshamuul. Your first mission is to kill 200 Enfeebled Silencers and Weakened Frazzlemaws in cave near the mountain here, as well as the boss Kroazur, which is accessible from the portal here (Note: Kroazur's lair is free access. You can kill it once every two real life hours. It drops good loot). Report your mission back to Maelyrra and ask for the next one.

Your next mission is to free 5 fairies that have been taken prisoner by evil creatures (using a melee weapon to break the energy barrier and then using the fairy) and also retrieve the Dark Moon Mirror. They are located on three different caves, all filled with Feyrist dark creatures:

  • This small cave, north-west from the town area. There is one fairy here.
  • This small cave, south-west from the town area. There is one fairy here.
  • This large cave, south-east from the earth shrine. This is the largest cave, with two floors. The remaining three fairies and the Dark Moon Mirror are located here. On floor -1, there are two fairies: here and here. On floor -2, the fairy is here and the Dark Moon Mirror is here, inside a Tree Stump.

Note: After being used, it will take one minute for the fairy to appear again so it can be freed by another player. Report your mission back to Maelyrra.

When you ask for your next mission, Maelyrra will tell you to obtain an Empty Starlight Vial from Aurita and a Dark Sun Catcher from Taegen. You can ask them for these items after you complete the An Unlikely Couple mission. After you finish this mission, talk to Taegen and give him 2 of each small enchanted gems (Small Amethysts, Emeralds, Rubies and Sapphires). Once you have the items, go back to Maelyrra and ask for a mission.

Now you need to collect three different light types using the items you just received:

After charging all three light items go back to Maelyrra and report your mission.

Your final mission will be to use the light sources in specific places around Feyrist to repair the magical barrier. Each item must be used 5 times, meaning you will have to visit 15 different places.

After repairing all 15 spots, go back to Maelyrra to report your success. She will inform you that the barrier is strong once again thanks to your efforts and gift you a Blossom Bag. Once the items have been completed don't recharge them before delivering the quest otherwise you will get the quest version of the item which has no defensive stat and there is currently no way of fixing it (bug).

Note: After repairing all magical barriers, your light sources will be changed to their empty/dark version again. After completing the quest, you can go back to the charging places during the correct time of the day and charge them once more, turning them permanently into the versions with elemental protection which can be equipped in the Extra Slot (Sun Catcher, Starlight Vial and Moon Mirror).

An Unlikely Couple

Required equipment:

Travel to Feyrist through an Ice Shrine and end up on a beach. Go north and find Aurita. Talk to her, saying mission, and she will tell you that she needs help transforming her fishtail into legs so she can meet her love Taegen. Find the Dancing Fairy south of Aurita and ask her about fishtail or spell and she will instruct you to get Magical Music Notes. To get the notes, you need to play the panpipes on the island in the middle of Feyrist's lake. You can reach the lake swimming from the beach on its east side. Go back to Aurita and deliver her the notes.

Talk to Taegen and ask about mission. He will ask for a Raven Herb, which you can get from different Ferns around Feyrist during the night. The closest one is here.

The Swan Feather Cloak

Note: You can only start this mission after finishing A Dream Come True.

Go to Valindara (only during day time) and ask her about her swan cloak. She will tell you that she can craft one for you if you give her 100 Swan Feathers. These can be obtained by stepping on 8 different spots around Feyrist during daytime, all of them near Swans (see map). You can get 5 feathers from each spot (a total of 40 feathers) every 20 hours, which means you will need at least 3 days to gather all 100 Swan Feathers. Once you have them, go back to Valindara and deliver the feathers by saying swan cloak and yes. Wait 20 hours and come back to her to receive your Swan Feather Cloak.

Troubled Animals

Creation of Legends

Player: hi
Alkestios: Nature's blessing, traveller!
Player: mission
Alkestios: I indeed have some troubles since I'm travelling this part of the world. When I took over the body of a white deer I wasn't aware that such an animal is a sought after quarry for hunters and poachers. ...
Alkestios: Now I'm living in the constant danger of being caught and killed. Of course, I could just take over another animal but this deer has really grown on me. I'd like to help this beautiful stag but I need your assistance. Are you willing to help me?
Player: yes
Alkestios: Your decision honours you. However, if you consider killing the poachers in question I ask you to halt. We, the fae, are rather peaceful beings and abhor bloodshed. Therefore, we must find another way to solve this problem. ...
Alkestios: I already have an idea: Some birds told me that poachers are a superstitious lot. Perhaps we can get them with their own misbelief. I know that the poachers have a kind of camp north of the Green Claw Swamps. ...
Alkestios: Please search it out and examine it closely. Perhaps you will find something you can use against them in order to stop them from hunting white deer.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Alkestios: Nature's blessing, traveller!
Player: book
Alkestios: I see, you found a book that contains old myths and legends about the woods and the forest animals. This could be of some use for us. If you find someone who could add a story ... Let's say about how it brings ill luck to kill a white deer. ...
Alkestios: As I said, poachers are rather superstitious. If they would read such a story in an old book, they probably would believe it to be true. In this case they might stop hunting me.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Ahmet: Be mourned pilgrim in flesh. I'm selling general goods. Just ask me for a trade.
Player: book
Ahmet: I see: You want me to add an additional story to this book. A legend about how it brings ill luck to kill a white deer. I could do that, yes. It costs 5000 gold, however. Are you still interested?
Player: yes
Ahmet: Well then. Here, take the book, I added the story. Oh, just one advice: Not to inflame prejudice but poachers are of rather simple disposition. I doubt they are ardent readers. ...
Ahmet: So if you want to make sure they read this anytime soon, perhaps don't hide the book in a shelf or chest. Make sure to place it somewhere where they will find it easily, like very obviously on a table or something.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Alkestios: Nature's blessing, traveller!
Player: mission
Alkestios: You succeeded! It seems the poachers have read your little faked story about killing white deer and the ensuing doom. They stopped chasing me. Thank you! ...
Alkestios: You proved yourself trustworthy - at least as far as I am concerned. But as I told you I'm actually not a real animal. If you want to enter our hidden island, you must prove that you are also willing to help real animals. Would you do that?
Player: yes
Alkestios: I heard there is a problem with a wolf mother and her whelps. However, I don't know more about it. One of my sisters, Ikassis, has taken over the body of a snake. ...
Alkestios: She knows more about the wolf. Seek her out in the north-west of Edron, near a circle of standing stones.

Threatened Dreams Quest

The Ghost of a Wolf

Player: hi
Ikassis: Nature's blessing, traveler!
Player: mission
Ikassis: One of my sisters, in the disguise of a nightingale, told me that {Alkestios} would send you. There is a problem which is not concerning me but a wolf mother on the small island Cormaya. ...
Ikassis: As we, the {fae}, consider ourselves guardians and protectors of plants and animals, it is important for me to help this wolf. Unfortunately, I can't do it myself because at the moment I'm bound to this vessel, this snake. ...
Ikassis: Thus I can't cross the ocean to reach Cormaya. Will you help me?
Player: yes
Ikassis: Nature's blessings! You may find the desperate wolf mother in the south of Cormaya. You will know the place because there is a big stone that looks like a grumpy face. ...
Ikassis: At night it will weep bloody tears and only at night you will meet the ghost there. Take this talisman so you may be able to talk with animals and even plants and stones. Just don't expect that all of them will answer you.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Ghostly Wolf: You are speaking the language of animals? I'm surprised. But I'm not in the right {mood} for a chat.
Player: mission
Ghostly Wolf: I'm heartbroken, traveler. Some months ago, I was taking care of my three newborn whelps. They just opened their eyes and started exploring the wilderness as a hunter came by. ...
Ghostly Wolf: He shot me and took my three puppies with him. I have no idea where he brought them or whether they are still alive. This uncertainty harrows me and thus I'm unable to find peace. Will you help me?
Player: yes
Ghostly Wolf: I didn't dare hope for it! The man told something about selling my babies to the orcs so they could train them as war wolves. ...
Ghostly Wolf: I guess he mentioned Ulderek's Rock. Please search for them and - be they alive or not - return and tell me what happened to them.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Irmana: Welcome to the house of {fashion}, Player!
Player: fur
Irmana: A wolf whelp fur? Well, some months ago a hunter came here - a rather scruffy, smelly guy. I had thrown him out instantly but he had to offer some fine pelts. One of them was the fur of a very young wolf. ...
Irmana: I was not delighted that he obviously killed such a young animal. When I confronted him, he said he wanted to raise it as a companion but it unfortunately died. A sad story. In the end, I bought some of his pelts, among them the whelp fur. ...
Irmana: You can have it if this is important for you. I would sell it for 1000 gold. Are you interested?
Player: yes
Irmana: Alright. Here is the fur.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Ghostly Wolf: You are speaking the language of animals? I'm surprised. But I'm not in the right {mood} for a chat.
Player: mission
Ghostly Wolf: So one of my babies died and another one has to live with the orcs. This makes me very sad. But at least one of them could return to the forest and found a surrogate mother. I hope it will lead a long, happy and most of all free life. ...
Ghostly Wolf: Please do one last thing for me: The fur you brought me, place it in this stone's mouth. This will be a worthy resting place.
<After using the fur on the stone>
Player: whelp
Ghostly Wolf: I guess I will stick around for a time to watch over the grave. After this final watch I will find peace, I can feel this. Thank you, human being. You redeemed me.

The Swan Maiden

Player: hi
Ikassis: Nature's blessing, traveler!
Player: mission
Ikassis: The wolf's ghost has found peace. Thank you, human being. However, there is someone else who needs help: A sister of mine who's bereft of something very precious. You'll find her in the guise of a swan at a small river south-east of here.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
a swan: I salute you, mortal being.
Player: mission
a swan: My sister Ikassis sent you? Blessed be her soul! Yes, it is true: I need help. Listen, I will tell you a secret but please don't break it. As you might already suspect I'm not really a swan but a {fae}. ...
a swan: But other than many of my {siblings} I did not take over a swan's body. I'm a {swan maiden} and this is one of my two aspects. I can take the shape of a swan as well as that of a young maiden. ...
a swan: But to do so I need a magical artefact: a cloak made of swan feathers. If I lose this cloak - or someone steals it from me - I'm stuck to the form of a swan and can't change shape anymore. And this is exactly what happened: ...
a swan: A troll stalked me while I was bathing in the river and he stole my cloak. Now I am trapped in the form of a swan. Please, can you find the thief and bring back the cloak?
Player: yes
a swan: Thank you, human being! I guess the thieving troll headed to the mountains east of here.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Chief Grarkharok: Me Chief Grarkharok! No do {nothing}!
Player: cloak
Chief Grarkharok: Hahaha! Grarkharok take cloak from pretty girl. Then ... girl is swan. Grarkharok wants eat but flies away. Grarkharok not understand. Not need cloak, too many feathers. Give cloak to To ... Ta ... Tereban in Edron. Getting shiny coins and meat.

Threatened Dreams Quest

Player: hi
Tereban: Greetings, friend. Good you are {showing up}.
Player: cloak
Tereban: I met this troll when he was hanging around near the town. He carried something I would consider rather uncharacteristic for a troll: a stunningly beautiful cloak entirely made of white feathers. I was curious and asked him if he would sell it. ...
Tereban: He seemed to be more interested in some of my coins and a piece of meat than in this unusual garment. Therefore, we made a trade: He got some meat and coins and I got the cloak. ...
Tereban: I had a clue that it was a magical item but nobody in Edron knew something about it. As I have a very lettered friend in Darashia I took a magical carpet flight to visit him and ask him about the cloak. ...
Tereban: But then something very annoying happened: During the flight the wind blew so strongly that it tattered the cloak. Feather after feather was blown off the carpet but I didn't realise it. ...
Tereban: When I reached Darashia there was no cloak just a handful of feathers. *sighs* I'm not sure whether it makes sense to search for these feathers. There was a small wind gust when we were still above Edron. ...
Tereban: But the actual storm began when we were in the air above the Darama. The feathers are now scattered all over the desert I guess. Rather futile to look out for them but if you really want to try: ...
Tereban: The magic carpet made a beeline from Edron to Darashia. You should search along this line on the ground. Good luck!

Threatened Dreams Quest

Alkestios: There are fire, ice, energy and earth shrines. If you don't know their locations you can also reach them by most temples in this world. The elemental shrines will transport you to Feyrist now that you bear the magical seal.

The Tooth Fairy

Player: hi
Tooth Fairy: Greetings, human being.
Player: mission
Tooth Fairy: You've got me, I really have a little problem here. What gave it away? My sorrowful expression? Yes, I thought so. This is what troubles me: I'm the {tooth fairy}. Well, this wouldn't be a problem at all under normal circumstances. ...
Tooth Fairy: I love gathering children's {milk teeth} and bringing presents for them. Until now, I did so by using a spell. This spell teleported me into the children's bedrooms and - after carrying out my duty - back to my secret {realm}. ...
Tooth Fairy: But then I made the mistake of using a magical portal and entering this part of the world. Everything is strange and different here and the worst thing: my spells don't work! It will take some time until I can use the portal again. ...
Tooth Fairy: Thus I'm stuck here for a while. But there are some children who lost their first milk tooth and are now waiting for their presents. Without my spells, I'm feeling utterly helpless. ...
Tooth Fairy: I don't dare going to their homes at night but I know they will be sad about the missing presents. Would you help me?

Player: mission
Aurita: Yes, there is something. I'm in love with {Taegen}, but he is a faun. As such he's inhabiting the forests, dancing with fairies. And I, being a mermaid, am living in the ocean, swimming with the fish between coral reefs. ...
Aurita: But I lost my heart to Taegen, I can't help it. We would love to spend some time together, but not just sitting on the beach. ...
Aurita: I'd love to show him my homestead beneath the waves. I have an idea but I can't do it alone. Would you help me?
Player: yes
Aurita: That's very kind of you, my friend! Listen: I know there is a spell to transform my fishtail into legs. It is a temporary effect, so I could return to the ocean as soon as the spell ends. Unfortunately I don't know how to cast this spell. ...
