Is this a joke? I know Erig posted it on your talkpage Whitelaces, but it sounds very strange to me CipSoft has added this as a monster.

Erig's scripts get the creatures from the kill stats on Tibia.com. If it's a joke, then it either came from Erig or from CIP's official website.
I guess the only way to know for sure is to go and find that man in the cave and see for ourselves!

This was a joke that developed on the Luminera forums, i think. Some newb or perhaps just a joker acting like a newb complained about a man in a cave and it turned into whatever craziness it is now. I believe it is called "Man in Cave" not "Man in the cave" --Digan
I remember this story. Someone added it on Luminera page as a relevant note but it was discarded. And the name is "Man in the Cave". Check official kill statistics on Calmera and Unitera. That's a funny one :) Gratz CIPSoft -- John Locke

this is my first post i dono if im doing this right but
this monster is real i fought it i was walking to barbarians and somehow i got teleported or fell down a hole to a room full of monks and "a man in the cave"
he summons 1-2 monks the loot i got from him was brown cloth and 2 ropes >.< i should have checked the ropes maybe they the ropes that are on the sprites that havent been found :((
he gives 555 exp
here are some damages i was wearing guardian shield and enchant spears

xD i killed it fast lol, other damage is from monks, and i am from calmera
The monster itself is not a joke. I tried using the Creature Illusion on my druid and it said "Sorry. Not possible" whereas if it didn't exist it would have said "A creature with this name does not exist." All that is left to know is where it spawns so we can retrieve better information about it..

Where exactly is the man in the cave? Is he always there, or does he come and go? --- As far as I could see the monks that are there drop loot as well, which basically means they are not summons. I think they are actually being "roped" by him.
its almost impossible to tell whether its a random spawn or a normal spawning creature, however I'm pretty convinced its random..When he does spawn, someone must stand on the spot where the rope spot 'should' be (and they'll be 'roped up' by him).

I've killed him before, around 2 weeks ago. To tell if he's on his cave you can hear a monk sayign "Repent Heretic" or MiTc yelling ALL MONKS blabla, then he ropes you. - Madrose
why is he a boss? I just realized Yeti is not a boss because it has nothing to be the boss of (take the old widow and GS for example), man in the cave is just a random-spawn monster, same as Yeti -- and if he gets put in the 'boss' list I think Yeti should be in it too...

Forgormar mines? Where is the place where it can rope you. Where you can hear monks sounds?
After you climb the ice waterfall on the way to deep mines you have to pass ice golems, you get roped on the first floor with ice goles after you go down stairs from the mamoths area. You can use tibia PL earth map to see the place were you get roped, look for a round room with bookcases. Tibia map

Actually formorgar mines should be changed to formorgar glacier, since the mines don't actually begin until you get underground, and even then "deep" doesn't quite fit it since it's not even in there.

It appears that you cannot rope yourself up to the cave. The only way to get into the Man's cave is for him to rope you up. Is this correct?

I killed it today (for the third time) and I'm pretty sure I got 777 exp from it this time. I don't have a screenshot of it so I'm not 100% sure. If someone else can kill it and check more carefully. Maybe they changed it.

It's true that you can't rope yourself up, but if someone has been roped up by the Man, that player can rope others. That makes it a pretty good place to train on pvp worlds.
