- KRRRRRNG
Notes
Scientists have various theories about the nature of the Stampor. Some of them see the Stampor as holy animal of a long forgotten god. Others claim that the Stampor must be some surviving experiment of an ancient and now extinct race. Another faction sees the Stampor as an ordinary animal with a high affinity to the element earth. All of them base their theories on the Stampor's astonishing abilities which nonetheless seem rather natural and not based on magic at all. Be it as it may, the Stampors that have been encountered were quite powerful and often a threat to travellers. This is not caused by an unusual aggressiveness of the Stampor, but rather on their stupidity and bad eyesight. They seem to mistake unknown intruders as members of other Stampor herds which they try to drive off. While a Stampor is very resilient and tough and can easily withstand the 'friendly poking' and spitting, for an ordinary human such friendly warnings can become life-threatening. They seem to be drawn to places aligned to elemental earth in some way and there were sightings of Stampors in areas to which they would be physically unable to travel. Of course this only fuelled rumours and the above mentioned theories, though none of this sightings could be confirmed, yet.
Stampors are a tameable creature.
You may hunt 600 of these as a task of the Killing in the Name of... Quest. Upon completion of the task you will face Tromphonyte.
Abilities
Damage Taken From Elements
Location
Stampor Cave on the Muggy Plains (here), Chyllfroest.
Behaviour
This creature changes target easily and can swap back just as fast. Blocker/shooter teamhunts are discouraged due to their erratic behavior.
A stampor attacks in melee range.
Strategy
Mages: Can hunt them from level 80 and above.
Sorcerers should use Wand of Voodoo and Druids, Springsprout Rod in combination with Earth Strike. Be careful as they can come in groups of two, keep Exura Gran ready incase you need it. Another strategy, if you are a Mage, is to lure 4-6 Stampors and kill them using Stone Shower Runes, this is recommended for Druids/Sorcerers above level 110. You do not need to stand diagonal in order to avoid any waves although, their Berserk may cause a lot damage, it is advised to keep some distance. In the cave you will walk slow because of the bad ground so when there are many use Strong Haste to outrun them.
Knights and Paladins should not hunt these monsters due to their skill reduction ability, which is used quite frequently.
