The Soulpit was announced and implemented with the Summer Update 2024, and allows players to use Soul Cores to fight waves of creatures, being rewarded a creature's Animus Mastery if successful beating the challenge. There is no level restriction for participating in the challenge, and the overall monster strength does not change based on the amount of players taking place in the challenge.[1] Be aware that regular death penalty applies when character dies in the Soulpit.

Players can obtain Soul Cores and use it as sacrifice at an obelisk north-east of Hrodmir to bring up to five character to the Soulpit area. Once the challenge starts, players will face foes in increasingly difficult waves, culminating in a final confrontation with a particularly strong enemy. Each Soul Core is related to one specific creature, and the core that is sacrificed to enter the Soulpit will define which creatures will be faced in the area.

Soulpit creatures are bolstered by varying stacks of Sinister Embrace and different durations of high initial resilience (gradually decreasing to its normal value over time), depending on the wave. They do not drop loot, are not tameable or skinnable, and do not count towards kill counters or kill statistics. The creatures will also have a Monster Reference Level in the pit. Their monster reference level depends on their Bestiary difficulty.

The final creature of the Soulpit, however, will reward 2800% more XP than its original creature would (split according to standard rules). It also has one of three new abilities:

  • Enrage: intensifies the creature's damage and resilience as its vitality wanes
  • Oppressor: can afflict Hexed Hexed, simultaneously Feared Feared and Rooted Rooted, or Powerless. Powerless
  • Overpower: Critical Hit Crit Icon chance with all attacks

Using an Exalted Core with a Soul Core transforms the latter into one of a lower Bestiary difficulty, with any creature class and occurrence possible. The Exalted Core is consumed in this process. For example, using a Bloated Man-Maggot Soul Core can eventually end up as a Butterfly Soul Core after having used five Exalted Cores on it.

Only one Soul Core is needed to teleport a group of up to five players into the Soulpit. After using the obelisk with it, players are teleported into the pit and have 10 minutes to complete the entire challenge. Each wave starts with a brief countdown, and all monsters in one wave must be defeated in order to progress to the next. This is the wave composition:

Wave 1 stack 5 stack 15 stack Boss stack
1 7
2 4 3
3 5 2
4 3 3 1

The boss has 40 stacks of health and damage, as well as one out of the three potential special abilities (Enrage, Oppressor, or Overpower).

It may be worth to note that there are no further requirements to be awarded the Animus Mastery: in particular, a character doesn't have to actively fight or even have the creature revealed in the bestiary.
