Notes

Cannot be reused as they break after the first shot, therefore it is mostly used for decoration purposes.
At Christmas time, Santa Claus may give them to you if you have been a good boy or girl.
Their value dropped significantly after Grynch Clan Goblin raids during Christmas.
Snowballs cannot be used as weapons because they don't do any damage.

History

Origin

Snowballs were introduced with the Ice Islands in the Update 6.2. At that time you could make snowballs by "using" the snow.

Distance Training

Because of their ease of availability, and a never-ending source of snowballs for training distance, many paladins abused the opportunity, and CipSoft adjusted the skills advancement formula (for distance only) so that you would advance in distance skill much much slower if you did not cause damage to your target.

Snowball Bug

Around the year 2004 or 2005 (before the walls of the mountains and many places were revamped, and you could use parcels everywhere to go up and down) there was a bug on Secura that a tree near Santa's House was deleted and players were able to reach the "snow heap". The snow heap was the source of snowballs, and that day many snowballs were created.

Availability

This same update that adjusted the skills advancement also removed the ability to easily make snowballs in the snow on the ice islands, and they became semi-rare since they were only available from the Goblin Temple Quest on Rookgaard, or as a gift from Santa Claus.

There came a large boost in the number of snowballs in-game during the 10th Anniversary Event, when Grynch Clan Goblins dropped a fairly large number of snowballs and other items.

Winterlight Solstice

With the introduction of the Winterlight Solstice event on December 22, 2018, Snowballs became much more available, since they can be created without limit by using Snow Heaps on the Percht Island.
