Slowed is a Special Condition that reduces your character's speed for as long as the condition is active. This condition is indicated by the slowed icon on your character's status bar. This condition is commonly called Paralysis by players.
When you are paralyzed, your speed will be greatly decreased, also any haste spells will be worn off, and will not return when paralysis is removed. This is dangerous especially for paladins and mages due to their usually low defense, so if you are hunting monsters like mummies and vampires, save mana or healing runes so you can stop the paralysis by healing yourself. A simple exura would be enough. Being paralyzed is usually not that dangerous for knights, unless they are trying to escape.
By information obtained in the Skills Window (while fighting monsters than can cause paralysis), it is possible to know how many speed points are temporarily lost. The effect of paralysis is not cumulative (for example, a mummy can reduce your speed from ~100 to ~240 speed points, if in its first cast you lose 180 points, a second cast by the same or another mummy can make it change from -180 to -210 or -120, meaning that if the spell is cast upon you a second time you can actually lose or recover few speed points). With this information, it is possible that a certain character's speed gets lower than a level 1's base speed. For example, using again the paralysis of a mummy, a level 51 character with a base speed of 320 (more information on speed page) that loses 180 speed points by the effect of the monster paralysis will end up with a final speed of 140 points until the spell wears off or has been cancelled by healing. The base speed of a level 1 is 220, meaning that the level 51 character of this example will move slower than a level 1. The lowest speed a character can have is 40.
How to get, prevent and get rid of paralysis[]
How to get Paralysis[]
- By monsters like Mummies and Vampires. (see full list below)
- From Druid players who can make and use the Paralyse Rune
How to prevent Paralysis[]
- Currently, only certain imbuement gives a chance to avoid being paralyzed.
How to get rid of Paralysis[]
- Using an instant healing or Haste spell (the spells Recovery and Intense Recovery will not get rid of paralysis). People usually use exura because it needs few mana so you can cast it multiple times before running out of mana. (The Antidote Spell will not work for paralysis).
- Waiting a few seconds to let the effect wear out. Recommended for knights who have low mana.
- Cast a healing rune on yourself. This is only recommended if you need to heal yourself too. Equally recommended for knights with low mana trying to escape.
