The Dead Dragon quest, commonly known as the copper shield quest is found in the hidden [[bear cave]] east of town. Find the small lake and open the hole. Below is wheat that blocks the path to a trail of fire. Through many fields finds you at the corpse of a dead dragon. In him you gain the greatest shield on [[Rookgaard]]. Many adventurers will leave many other items behind when they have no capacity to carry both, so this can also bring wealth by forgotten items.

Background

Rookgaard is the first island that you start on with a new character. It has limited equipment and monsters and is there to give players a first taste of the game. When they have mastered the basics and reached level 8 they can go see the Oracle. At the the Oracle they will have to choose a hometown and a vocation. The choice of vocation is permanent and can only be changed by rooking the character. It is not possible to go back to Rookgaard once you have choosen to go to mainland (except, as mentioned earlier, if you kill the character down to level 5).

NPCs

Cipfried - The first NPC you meet when you first start out with a new character. Cipfried is a monk that have healingpowers. He can stop poison, fire, electricity and heal badly wounded players (<65 hitpoints). You can find Cipfried in the Temple.

Obi - Obi sells and buys weapons, armors and other wares that a real explorer and hunter needs. His shop is located east in the town, northeast of the Temple.

Dixi - Dixi is working on Obi's shop. She buys and sell the same things as Obi does. You can find her shop on the second floor of Obi's.

Al Dee - Al Dee, or "Mad Al" wich is his nickname, sells weapons, armors and other equipment that is useful for hunters and explorers. Unlike Dixi and Obi, he also has picks. But he doesn't have many of them so he will only trade them for a small axe, which are rare items on the non-premium part of Rookgaard. You can find Al Dee at the northeast part of the non-premium town. North of Willies house.

Tom - Tom the tanner buys dead rats, rabbits, wolves. A good place for newbies to get their first gold. His shop is located west of Obi's shop, northwest of the Temple.

Seymour - Seymour is working in the library part of the Acadamy. He pays people for bringing dead rats to him. You can find the Acadamy north of the Temple.

Willie - Willie is our foodseller. He buys and sells most kinds of food (not fish). He can be found at the west part of the non-premium town. West/northwest of the sheep farm.

Lily - Lily sells antidote runes and buys blueberries. Her store can be found south of the sheep farm.

Amber - She is a traveller from mainland. She came here with her raft to the east of Rookgaard. Unfortunately she forgot her Notebook in her chest on the raft. Anyone that brings this Notebook to her will be rewarded. She also knows some orcish. You can find Amber in the rest room, downstairs in the Acadamy.

Dallheim - Dallheim is the bridgeguard of Rookgaard. He got the same healing powers as Cipfried has and he can be found on the bridge out of town.

Lee'delle - She is pretty much the same as Obi and Dixi. Her store is located in the center of the premium island (the part of Rookgaard which only premium account characters can visit). She likes honey flowers and rewards players for bringing them to her.

Billy - He is pretty much the same as Willie, although he also buys rats like Tom. He can be found on the east part of the premium island (the part of Rookgaard which only premium account characters can visit).

Loui - Loui is a monk in the wilderness on the premium part of Rookgaard. He is very scared of a sinkhole near him and he says it's something very dangerous down there. He can't heal people because of lack of "some flower".

Oracle - When you are level 8 you are allowed to leave Rookgaard and travel to mainland. When you want to do this you have to talk to the Oracle. The Oracle will ask what vocation and hometown you want and will then teleport you to the choosen town. You can find the Oracle on the second floor in the Acadamy, above the library.

Gatekeeper - When you are level 8 you are allowed to leave Rookgaard and travel to mainland. When you want to do this you have to talk to the Gatekeeper. The Gatekeeper will ask what vocation and hometown you want and then teleport you to the chosen town. The main diffrence between Gatekeeper and Oracle are the towns you can choose to travel to. You can find the Gatekeeper east of the blueberry fields, north of Lee'delle's shop (the part of Rookgaard which only premium account characters can visit).

Zerbrus - He is pretty much the same as Dallheim on the bridge out of town. Can be found on the bridge out of town (the part of Rookgaard which only premium account characters can visit).

Hyacinth - Hyacinth is an old erimit who lives in his small house on the top of a mountain. He sells life fluids and you can deposit your empty vials to him.

Blind Orc - The Blind Orc is a friendly Orc in the mountains. He doesn't understand English, so you have to speak orchish with him. He sells some equipment, but the only thing worth buying from him is a bow and arrows. His mountain can be found north of the ruins, outside the town.

Monsters

Monsters that can be found here

  • Rats: The first monster you meet will be a rat, they have 20 hitpoints and give 5 experiance. These monsters may be weak alone but they rack up lots of damage to low levels in numbers. Dont get trapped.
  • Spiders: Like rats, these are weak monsters. They drop better loot than rats and have better exp points.
  • Snake: Very easy to kill, but watch out for their poison!. These monsters yeild 10 exp but drop no loot.
  • Cave rats: Much stronger than rats, these are harder to kill and do more damage, they yield 10 exp points.
  • Bugs: These are great to train on, they give 18 exp each and are not very strong, but beware! They do some amazing damage when in groups
  • Poison spiders: You can argue whether these are worth hunting or not. Some feel they their damage and poison is to annoying compared to how much exp and GP you get while others think they are great for some fast powergaming.
  • Wolves: These monsters are easy to kill but do some high damage. Make sure that you have studded armor/helmet or above and a shield before fighting these dog-looking creatures.
  • Trolls: Very slow and don't do much damage, but they are hard to kill if you don't have a sword or better.
  • Orcs: Basically, a stronger, faster, tougher version of trolls. And they are green with fearsome red eyes. These are slightly harder than trolls.
  • Bears: very easy to kill and drop lots of food, but they do some good damage, especially in pairs.
  • Wasps: I got killed so many times by these things, they are increadibly fast, strong, armor piercing poisonous beasts.
  • Goblins: Not very strong in hand to hand combat, but they can do some nasty hits with their throwing stones. Be very careful when crossing the goblin bridge in the main premium cave.
  • Minotaurs: These things are increadibly tough. To hunt them or do the mino quest, you need to have a blocker lvl 15+ with shielding 20+ trap them one at a time. Then someone with distance 16+ shoot spears at them, spears sometimes do over 30 damage when thrown at a distance.
  • Rotworms: Rotworms remind of minotaurs, but they hit harder and have more hitpoints. Just one alone can do 15 damage, but if you get trapped with 5 then your doomed. Notice: rotworms can not be pushed away! So plan how to run so you don't get yourself trapped with them.
  • Orc spearmen: One of the 3 hardest monsters on Rookgaard. They can do increadible damage at a distance. "On my level 12 Rook Guardian I found the best way for me to kill them was give them a taste of their own medicine, at a distance I did about 25 damage every time I hit them, and they became easy.", says Ancient Aznx. But if you don't want the bad damage off them then stay close hitting them with a mace/katana and don't let them get at a distance.

Food

Food that can be obtained on Rookgaard

Rumours

Common rumours about the island

  • It is said, that somewhere there lies a Spike Sword on a tiny island near Rookgard. That it disappears, and appears again after some time. No one seemed to take the sword in his hand and no one knows, where and how to get it.

Edit: I, Vifehiv, confirm the presence of this sword.

  • People say that you can obtain scale armors on Rookgaard, but I think this is a false rumour coming from people who think you can kill the Ghoul.
  • Some say you can open the door in the Minotaur hell that leads to the Minotaur Mage, but this haven't been prooved yet. There is no known key that can open this door.
  • A few years ago people said you would loot a key if you killed the single Minotaur on the mountain south of the Sword of Fury with your bare hands. The key were told to be able to open the door to the Minotaur Mage in Minotaur Hell. This rumour is untrue.
  • A sign to the 'Maze of Fury' can be seen in a cave and a hole marked on the map but as so far none have discovered whether this maze exists or where it is.

Quests

Torch Quest

The Torch Quest box is found north of the starting temple in the academy of Rookgaard.(Academy).

(Torch Box)This place is found when you go down the stairs in the Academy and go north until you reach this box shown on the image.

Doublet Quest

When you first enter the lands of rookgaard you can obtain a doublet. First go straight north from Tom The Tanners into the stable beside the wheat field. Go down the ladder in the northwest corner and head east. Hold Ctrl and click the floor board one square left of the sewer grate to recieve your prize.

Amber's Quest

If you talk to Amber (Academy Basement) and say "notebook" she will tell you that she left her private notebook on her raft off the coast of southeast Rookgaard. This is true. Go and search the chest to find the notebook. It is of no other use. Bring it back to Amber to receive a short sword which you can either use or sell for 10gp.

Katana Quest

The katana can be gained two ways. Rotworms when slain may drop katanas. The famed katana quest lies below the earth through the northeastern graveyard. Go to the depths of the cave and through the poison fields. North and East in the cave where a chest with a key is located. Near the poison fields were stairs leading down to skeletons. Below again is the final room which needs the Silver key to unlock. Amongst the bodies are two which contain a katana and a viking helmet.

Dead Dragon Quest

The Dead Dragon quest, commonly known as the copper shield quest is found in the hidden bear cave east of town. Find the small lake and open the hole. Below is wheat that blocks the path to a trail of fire. Through many fields finds you at the corpse of a dead dragon. In him you gain the greatest shield on Rookgaard. Many adventurers will leave many other items behind when they have no capacity to carry both, so this can also bring wealth by forgotten items.
