History
After player suggestion on the test server forum, this item became buyable from Black Bert for 500 gp, during a round of content fixes on Dec 20 2012. So if you loose this item now during the quest it is involved in, you can simply buy a new one from Black Bert.
Before Summer Update 2012, it looked the same as a Life Crystal.
