Notes

Ice Golems are constructs raised by powerful sorcery. The creation of Ice Golems dates back to times no mortal can remember. Golems follow simple tasks, given to them by their masters. Often, they are ordered to protect some place or item and they are still bound to this duty even when their masters are already dead for a long time. This is only one of the reasons why most encountered Ice Golems are hostile. Another less known fact is that the structure of the Ice Golem's feeble mind makes it easy for all kinds of spirits to possess these creatures and to take over control. Thus the Ice Golems are easy to be 'ridden' by such entities and especially malignant spirits have little qualms to do so.
The strength and resilience of Ice Golems is quite similar to other golems. They tend to be a bit faster and more agile compared to stone golems but are not that heavily armoured. They are only able to survive in cold climate as Ice Golems will melt in warmer regions unless some kind of magic is applied to prevent this. In cooler areas it is much easier to raise Ice Golems than their stone cousins. As a rule of thumb, Ice Golems are usually encountered in greater numbers than stone golems.

Relative to Stone Golems. You may hunt 300 of these as a task of the Killing in the Name of... Quest. Upon completion of the task you will face Shardhead.

Behaviour

They move slowly and are easy to outrun. Do not underestimate them however, since they can perform strong combos if they catch you. An ice golem never retreats.

Strategy

Thanks to their focus on energy spells, Sorcerers will find Ice Golems rather enjoyable to hunt. Because mages do not need Frosty Hearts for imbuing, they can sell them all for a significant profit. Most of the time sorcerers should just use an energy damage wand and cast Energy Strike. If you find yourself in a tight spot, Great Energy Beam and Energy Wave are extremely effective for fast kills.

Druids are slightly less effective against Ice Golems, since they have access to only one energy spell. However, earth spells still deal full damage, so you will not have any problems. Use an earth damage rod and cast Energy Strike. Terra Wave will be helpful for emergencies.

All mages would do well to bring some Thunderstorm Runes in case they run into two or three at once.

Ice Golems are not very Knight-friendly monsters. Even though they do not have a lot of health, their defence alone is very strong, they possess some physical damage resistance on top of that, they hit very hard in close range and reduce your skills quite often. In general, it is not advised to hunt Ice Golems as a knight. However, if you are level 60+ and have good skills (at least 80/80), the tasks are doable and profitable, however less than they would be for mages, since as a knight you might want to keep the Frosty Hearts for imbuing, while mages can simply sell them. Try to fight one at a time and be extremely careful when facing more than two at once.

Despite their focus on physical damage, Paladins should not have trouble hunting Ice Golems, as they deal much higher damage than knights, so they will not be as affected by the monsters' defence. As distance fighters, paladins will only ever take damage from the icicle attacks. Holy spells are completely useless against them, so use Ethereal Spear to kill them faster. Remember to stay diagonal while running, in order to avoid the paralyzing beam.
