Requirements[]
- Rank of Squire in the Rathleton Quest
Method[]
Go to the Underground Glooth Factory, walk west and go all the way down in the "pit". Find the Strange Pipe in the west and talk to him.
A voice in the darkness[]
You will need a moderately leveled team. You can take as many or as few team members as you like but you are unlikely to make it far with fewer.
Exit the plant through the eastern quest door to enter Jaccus Maxxen's Dungeon. To the far east there is a Magic Forcefield. To enter the forcefield, your team needs to turn on all 8 Strange Machines and enter before they reset. The Strange Machines are found on the way to the forcefield. There are 3 on the north side, 3 in the middle and 2 on the south side. A team of 2 could reasonably do this by running through a freshly cleared spawn.
When you have used all the Strange Machines, enter the portal to the far east. You will be in a small room with a teleporter to the east. You have 10 minutes to kill all the waves and the boss. Wait a while and Glooth Anemone will start spawning. There will be 5-7(?) waves of Glooth Anemones and the waves will occur even before you clear the last wave. Eventually, 4 Tentacles of the Deep Terror will spawn. They have a lot of health and will retreat at 1000-2000(?) health. You must kill them all at once. When the first one dies, there is a 10-second window before it spawns again with full health. If you can kill them all within that 10 second window, the Deep Terror will spawn. Kill the Deep Terror to progress...

The plot thickens[]
After the Deep Terror defeat, you must enter the portal to the east of his room. You will be teleported to another large hall with another 8 Strange Machines. Before you do anything, talk with the Strange Pipe to ensure you can enter the next boss room. The deal is the same: turn the machines on and enter the teleport. The teleport is on the far west. When you enter the portal a few waves of 1 Rot Elemental, 1 Devourer and 1 Glooth Blob will spawn. Then, a single Feeble Glooth Horrors will spawn. Kill it, and it will multiply into 2 Weakened Glooth Horrors (2 total). Kill each of those and 2 Glooth Horrors will spawn (4 total). Kill each of those and 2 Strong Glooth Horrors will spawn (8 total). Finally, kill those and each of them will turn into 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (16 total). Kill all of these to activate the portal to the west. When all of the Glooth Horror variations have been slain, enter the portal to the west.
You do not need to kill all of the horrors at once, which is extremely deadly without a very large team, and in fact the Strange Pipe discourages that. Unfortunately heeding the NPC's advice is impractical because the 10 minute limitation is usually not long enough to execute a safer strategy. The safest strategy would be to kill the strongest first, meaning single-target combat all the way, thus:
- Kill 1 Feeble Glooth Horror (2 Weakened Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Weakened Glooth Horror (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 2 Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Glooth Horror (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 1 Glooth Horror, 2 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 1 Glooth Horror, 1 Strong Glooth Horror, 2 Empowered Glooth Horror)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 1 Glooth Horror, 1 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 1 Glooth Horror, 2 Empowered Glooth Horror)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 1 Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Glooth Horror (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 2 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Weakened Glooth Horror, 2 Empowered Glooth Horror)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (1 Weakened Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Weakened Glooth Horror (2 Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Glooth Horror (1 Glooth Horror, 2 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Glooth Horror, 1 Strong Glooth Horror, 2 Empowered Glooth Horror)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (1 Glooth Horror, 1 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Glooth Horror (2 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Strong Glooth Horror, 2 Empowered Glooth Horror)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (1 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (2 Empowered Glooth Horror)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors
This strategy is the safest but also takes the longest. If your team has insufficient single-target firepower they will be kicked out after 10 minutes. Because of this the usual strategy is to just kill them all at once, so:
- Kill 1 Feeble Glooth Horror (2 Weakened Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Weakened Glooth Horrors (4 Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 4 Glooth Horrors (8 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 8 Strong Glooth Horrors (16 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 16 Empowered Glooth Horrors
You could possibly mix strategies. The first one is too slow and the second one is too hard, so you could also try, for example:
- Kill 1 Feeble Glooth Horror (2 Weakened Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Weakened Glooth Horrors (4 Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 4 Glooth Horrors (8 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (7 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (7 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (6 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (6 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (5 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (5 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (4 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (4 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (3 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (3 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (2 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (2 Strong Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (1 Strong Glooth Horrors, 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors (1 Strong Glooth Horror)
- Kill 1 Strong Glooth Horror (2 Empowered Glooth Horrors)
- Kill 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors
The idea with this strategy is to utilize area attacks as much as possible while also keeping the Empowered Glooth Horrors away. The blockers will need to handle, at worst, 7 Strong Glooth Horrors and 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors. The team can use area attacks until the Strong Glooth Horrors have low health, and then change to attack 1 Strong Glooth Horror and the 2 Empowered Glooth Horrors that it creates.

Into the fire[]
After slaying the Glooth Horrors, you must enter the portal to the west of his room. You will be teleported to yet another large hall with another set of Strange Machines. Talk to the Strange Pipe who is a little south of where you appear enter, and clear your way to the portal to the far west. Use the Strange Machines to activate the portal and enter to arrive in a large room with a short lava border.
In a few moments, the lava will spread and Raging Fires will spawn. You must kill these and use their bodies on the Crucible to the north-west with the limited time and space you have. For the first wave, you have 60 seconds to kill 6; for the second, you have 50 seconds to kill 5; for the third, you have 40 seconds to kill 4. 30 seconds after killing the third wave you will be teleported to the next area and receive the achievement Go with da Lava Flow.
Note: The number of Raging Fires that spawn is random, so it may happen that not enough of them spawn when all rounds finish. If this happens or if your team fails to use enough bodies on the Crucible in time, you will be sent back to the western teleport in the previous area, through which you came. You'll then have to turn on all Strange Machines of this area again to restart.

The root of all evil[]
You will have been teleported to another area after succeeding in the last mission. Talk to the Strange Pipe which is very close to the teleport, before turning on all the Strange Machines in the area and entering the teleport to the east.
Turn the Strange Machines on and enter the portal to the east.
You will arrive in a large square room with 4 glooth generators away from the wall at each corner. A few seconds after entering, there will be a few waves of Glooth Golems before the final boss, Professor Maxxen, spawns.
The 4 generators on each corner will become Glooth-Generators after a certain period of time. The south-west will spawn some time after Professor Maxxen spawns; the south-east will spawn 35 seconds after the first spawns, the north-east will spawn 30 seconds after the second spawns, and the north-west will spawn 25 seconds after the third spawns. You must plan ahead of time how to deal with them. As soon as the Glooth-Generators spawn, and a player is around them, they will announce THE GLOOTH GENERATOR CHARGES UP FOR A LETHAL EXPLOSION; 14–15 seconds later, if the Glooth-Generators is still alive, 4 Energy Pulses will spawn at the generator locations and explode immediately after (The fully charged generator explodes in a blast!), dealing a massive amount of energy damage (5600) to everyone in a 6 squares radius before also disappearing.
The recommended strategy to deal with the Glooth-Generators is have the whole team attack it as soon as it spawns. Despite of that, all players should be prepared to reduce the 5600 damage and absorb the remaining using Energy protection equipment and Magic Shield, for example.
Note: The Glooth-Generators do not activate their "charging up" phase if players are not around them. This can be used as a strategy if the whole team stays at the southern side of the room, but it can also be very dangerous since if one player gets into an active Glooth-Generator sight it will immediately summon the Energy Pulses which in turn will explode.
Professor Maxxen will summon 2 Walkers, and has 3 accomplices fight alongside him: Glooth Masher, Glooth Slasher, Glooth Trasher (not summons). During the fight, Professor Maxxen will be teleported to a different part of the room a few times.
Justice served[]
When Professor Maxxen is defeated, the team can enter the portal to the east to arrive in the reward room. Talk to the Strange Pipe there and obtain the rewards from the Box to the north. You will receive a Bag with the items listed below. You'll also receive the achievement The Professor's Nut. Now that you've obtained the rewards, you may use the teleporters on the north-east side of the first area (here) which will allow you to skip some of the quest (to redo a specific area). The team can now leave by entering the Slime Slide to the east, which will bring you back to Rathleton.

Shortcuts[]
After finishing the quest you can use the three Magic Forcefields east of the first room as shortcuts to skip some of the puzzles and bosses if you want to go to a specific part of the dungeon to hunt or kill a boss.
- The west teleport takes you to the entrance of the second room (where you go after defeating the Deep Terror), here.
- The center teleport takes you to the entrance of the third room (where you go after defeating the Empowered Glooth Horrors), here.
- The east teleport takes you to the entrance of the fourth room (where you go after the lava room puzzle), here.
