You see a giant spider

Notes

Giant Spiders live in holes in the mountains of Tibia. They are among the most powerful monsters and are so fast that it is nearly impossible to flee. They can summon poison spiders and throw poison fields.

Giant Spiders used to be one of the most feared monsters, mainly because of the locations they could be found in. Some years ago, they were often being lured to Venore, Dwarf Bridge, and the roads near it. They were commonly found in places one would never expect to find such a beast. Giant Spiders used to be immune to fire but now they are weak to it.

You may hunt 500 of these as a task of the Killing in the Name of... Quest. Upon completion of the task you will face The Old Widow.

Abilities

Melee (0-300) poisons you for 5-8 hp/turn, Stalagmite (40-70), throws Poison Fields, Summons 0-2 Poison Spiders, Haste.

Behaviour

When using haste, Giant Spiders have similar speed to that of a level 80 character. They chase their prey relentlessly, spit poison fields around and summon Poison Spiders. Be careful, as the summoned spiders will sometimes appear in front of you, blocking your path. Giant Spiders will push or kill the Poison Spiders they summon in order to reach you and attack you with melee. Be sure to kill these spiders off first as they will break your shielding. Giant Spiders have a terrifyingly low attention span, switching targets often. Common lure in the Plains of Havoc.

Strategy

Giant Spiders seem to enjoy changing targets, the blocker should use Challenge if they have Premium Account and should stand between the Giant Spider and the shooters. This makes retargetting less likely. While blocking you should also kill the Poison Spiders so they don't break your shield.
Knights can kill them with a good weapon and high skills. A fire-enchanted weapon and 80/80 skills are recommended.
Paladins with level around 50 and Boots of Haste can just run and shoot Bolts or Enchanted Spears. Just remember that a Crossbow has a range of 5, while enchanted spears only have a range of 4. If you have Haste, you can start hunting at level 35, but if the Giant Spider uses haste too, you might get caught. Distance Fighting at 70+ is recommended.
Mages can use Strong Haste and shoot them with runes or Flame Strike. It is recommended to reach at least level 40-50 before trying this. Mages should try their first solo at a single spawn, with a large running area and perhaps a ladder or stairs nearby for an emergency escape. At level 45+ you shouldn't need magic shield, unless there is more than one Giant Spider. If you need extra firepower you could summon Fire Devils or Fire Elementals.
