A Game World Merge is a merger of 3 Game Worlds located in the same geographical area (either the USA or the United Kingdom), and of the same PvP type (Open PvP, Optional PvP, or Hardcore PvP). The main purpose of this is to reduce the number of lowly-populated servers.
Cipsoft first announced they were planning on merging game worlds on March 04, 2014. On May 23, 2014, it was announced that Kenora would be the first server to come forth out of a Game World Merge through the merging of Kyra, Nebula, and Thoria. Its actual creation took place on June 24, 2014.
On July 14, 2014, five more Game World Merges were announced. These all took place on August 14, 2014:
- Kronera was created by merging Empera, Ocera, and Lucera;
- Garnera was created by merging Jamera, Shanera, and Balera;
- Thera was created by merging Samera, Trimera, and Keltera;
- Rowana was created by merging Hiberna, Isara, and Eternia;
- Nika was created by merging Aldora, Arcania, and Xerena.
On October 09, 2014, seven more Game World Merges were announced. These all took place on November 10, 2014:
- Umera was created by merging Libera, Mythera, and Rubera;
- Justera was created by merging Chimera, Grimera, and Malvera;
- Iona was created by merging Lunara, Nova, and Titania;
- Efidia was created by merging Azura, Danubia, and Galana;
- Irmada was created by merging Berylia, Iridia, and Morgana;
- Bellona was created by merging Furora, Obsidia, and Selena;
- Yanara was created by merging Askara, Pandoria, and Saphira.
On March 31, 2016, two more Game World Merges were announced. These both took place on May 2, 2016:
- Zeluna was created by merging Aurea, Elysia, and Valoria;
- Laudera was created by merging Elera, Tenebra, and Vinera.
On September 11, 2017, five more Game World Merges were announced. Most of these worlds originated from a previous merger, meaning that for the first time "third-generation" worlds were created. These took place on October 19, 2017:
- Estela was created by merging Bellona, Irmada, Verlana, and Xylana;
- Peloria was created by merging Efidia, Iona, Nika, and Quilia;
- Vunira was created by merging Rowana, Yanara, and Zeluna;
- Impera was created by merging Kronera, Osera, and Pythera;
- Quintera was created by merging Danera, Hydera, and Neptera.
Also on September 11, 2017, the merger of special (Preview, Hardcore and free-to-move) Game Worlds was announced. The decision to merge these different worlds together was made because all of them had very low population but none had suitable merging partners. The PvP type of the new worlds was set to be Hardcore PvP, despite a lot of controversy (news ticker). These Game Worlds received the newly created Experimental Game World label. These took place on October 26, 2017.
- Zuna was created by merging Calva, Inferna and Aurora;
- Zunera was created by merging Calvera, Dolera and Aurera.
On March 19, 2018, ten more Game World Merges were announced. These took place on April 19, 2018:
- Bona was created by merging Guardia, Nerana, and Tavara;
- Epoca was created by merging Chrona and Morta;
- Monza was created by merging Beneva, Candia, and Olympa;
- Firmera was created by merging Eldera and Mortera;
- Gladera was created by merging Fidera, Magera, and Veludera;
- Lobera was created by merging Laudera, Thera, and Umera;
- Nefera was created by merging Honera and Unitera;
- Solidera was created by merging Amera, Silvera, and Zanera;
- Talera was created by merging Fortera, Justera, and Shivera;
- Wintera was created by merging Julera, Solera, and Xantera.
