Bakragore's Burden is a special mechanic that can be applied previously to fighting Bakragore, by making sacrifices of his children's essences. Defeating Bakragore while suffering from his burden is the only way to have a chance at looting special Grand Sanguine versions of the Sanguine Set weapons. They are brimming with Sanguine Power Augments, which gives them an edge over the regular ones. The higher the burden stage, the higher the chance to:
- loot a Sanguine Set's item from Bakragore
- loot a special Grand Sanguine version of these items
- loot better versions of Promotion Scrolls
Obtaining Essences[]
When players fight Bakragore's progeny while under the influence of its final taint, there is a chance to drop The Essence of Murcion, The Essence of Vemiath, The Essence of Ichgahal, and The Essence of Chagorz. These can be used, consuming them and "imbuing" the character with its power.
Sacrificing Essences[]
When pulling the lever to fight Bakragore while each team member bears four Bakragore's Taints plus the final taint, the team will arrive in a special antechamber, which is another lever room.
There, players will have 3 minutes to prepare (You have only 3 minutes to prepare for the fight. To reset your sacrifice you will have to leave this room and reenter!). Essence devourers can be found in this chamber, and characters that have previously consumed essences can use these devourers to extract and sacrifice their essences, thereby inflicting Bakragore's Burden upon the next fight (The difficulty of the upcoming battle has increased!).
- In the antechamber, one devourer for each essence type will be available:
- Using them sacrifices a player's essence, charging the devourers up:
Sacrificed essences only inflict a burden for the next Bakragore fight, and this burden is taken away at the end, regardless of the outcome of the battle (success or failure). Players need to gather and sacrifice further essences if they want to fight with the burden active again.
Outcome of Sacrifices[]
Each sacrifice will increase the impact of Bakragore's Burden, raising both the difficulty and the rewards of the team's next fight against Bakragore. There are four stages, one for each essence sacrificed:
Bakragore's Burden | Stage 1 | Stage 2 | Stage 3 | Stage 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|
Reduced damage dealt | 10% | 20% | 30% | 40% |
Increased damage taken | 25% | 50% | 75% | 100% |
Additional loot | 5% | 15% | 35% | 75% |
Additional experience | 15% | 45% | 105% | 225% |
Additionally, for each sacrificed essence, one Elder Bloodjaw will be replaced with one echo of a Bakragore's progeny: Echo of Chagorz, Echo of Murcion, Echo of Ichgahal, and Echo of Vemiath. These echoes are not as strong as their real versions, but each one has a separate set of skills and are still strong minions, making the fight even harder because:
- they do not interact with the tracks left on the ground by players or the boss, including the Rotten Charge
- they will get in the way of executing the mechanic with an Elder Bloodjaw
- they will not be removed from the room together with the Elder Bloodjaws
- they may heal back to full health if killed[1]
