Notes
Prevented loss of all items, levels and skills. All of these amulets were turned into Broken Amulet in the Update 7.2. The closest replacement for this amulet is the updated version of it, the Amulet of Loss.
History
It was introduced in the 7.1 Update in December 2002. It could be purchased from Eremo for 50,000gp.
When introduced, this amulet would prevent the loss of any skills or items when you died, effectively nullifying the death penalties (the amulet would be destroyed when you died).
Removed from Game
In December 2003 (one year after its introduction), this amulet was removed from the game. All Amulets of Life in the game were changed into Broken Amulets, which could be sold back to Eremo for 50,000gp.
The main reason why it was removed was because of the Nova wars. A level 100+ sorcerer could easily go right into a battle, make 3 Ultimate Explosions which killed the enemies (but also many innocent players), then the sorcerer was killed (teleported to the temple) recieved full hp/mana and the only loss was 50,000 gp. Ready to repeat the same action again.
The sorcerers doing this could kill more than 100 innocent players every day. 50,000 gp was pretty much back in 2003, many war participants got that kind of money due to power abusing.
After this, CipSoft had to remove the Amulet of Life. They also introduced the Skull System to prevent anything like this from happening again.
Some of the benefits of this amulet are now achieved by wearing an Amulet of Loss and purchasing all of the Blessings, but there is no way to completely prevent the loss of at least some skills when you die.
