Some time ago, a group of soldiers from the Royal Army, along with the commander of the royal army, travelled by ship to the Greenclaw Swamp. They thought that they had landed on an island, and the commander found it to be a good location to build a home.
During construction of his new home, there was an earthquake, and most of the structure dissappeared into the swampy ground. Sadly, the commander was in the cellar when the earthquake occurred, and the remainder of the troops left by boat, assuming he had died.
The commander had tried to escape, but the cellar door was locked. He then decided to try and dig his way out, but that quickly proved impossible, as the ground above him was unstable swampland, and could collapse and drown him at any time.
During his time underground, he encountered a family of Bonelords that seemed to ignore him. Over time, he became bitter about his men leaving him to die, and he now has a strong hatred for all humans. His affinity for the Bonelords has grown, and they now live in peace with each other underground.
The man who was once the commander of the royal army is now known as the "Black Knight", and the ruins of his unfinished home are sadly called the "Black Knight's Villa" (here).
